    Approved!

I just called the BS of California to find out the status of my pre-authorization and they told me that is been approved! PTL! I'm still kinda in shock and waiting for the letter/call from the doctor but I'm so happy!!!! Thank you for all the prayers and good wishes! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. I've fallen off the bandwagon...mostly due to stress which caused my fibromylgia to flare up more so haven't been able to go to the gym. Went for yoga last week and was sore for 3 days Protein doesn't keep my full anymore...I've stopped drinking the shakes b/c they were filling but not anymore. Anyone post op a couple of years share their daily menu of food. I need to start counting calories again and fix myself, i know and please no judging....It's difficult for me to even get out of bed and go to work :*( was so good last year going to the gym a few times, and almost had gotten to my goal weight *sigh* any advice would be greatly appreciated. and I dont have a dietitian or nutritionst that i can go to bc i dont live in the US anymore...will be going there in the summer time, but for now, need to get back on track. thanks

SIPS / SADI-S LOOP DS SUPPORT

I get oil spills if i something extremely high in fat. I know if I don't get enough Fat bc i will be constipated. I rather have oil spills instead of constipation. How far are you post op. I realize that when I go to the foods that I don't eat it is bc I am off emotionally. So I know to stay far away from the foods high in carbs. So far this has worked very well for me. Even when I am upset my first reaction was to stuff my face with foods high in carbs or sugar. Now I will walk or exercise when I am upset. I'm glad your seeking therapy bc it will help you with looking in the mirror . I am almost 2.5 yrs post op and I still don't recognize myself. Even at times I have to post pics on FB or look at the pics bc I have to remind myself from where I came from to now. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App
  4. I agree with you most of the time, but this is BS. Why the hell do we expect the whole world to revolve around our diet? Ridiculous. If someone is really serious about changing their eating habits and lifestyle, what everyone else is doing shouldn't matter. If your will power is so weak that you absolutely can't help yourself around people with "tempting" foods, then you really need to question how serious you are about having the surgery and changing your life. Let's stop acting like we have absolutely no way to resist tempting foods that people eat around us. There has to be some sort of will power involved here. I mean stop with the "Devil made me do it" crap already!

    Women on BCP after surgery

idk about the pill... i have the implant (nexplanon) and have had no problems losing weight. i have PCOS and hypothyroidism, so bcp or SOME kind of bc is necessary for me and weight loss has always been super hard.
  6. Hi! I am 2 weeks out and today I began my puree diet. After having a few baby spoons of mashed avocado I got the foamies and slimies and vomited multiple times. This also happened to me last week with some egg drop Soup though I was only having the broth. I had the lapband for 4ish years and foamed/slimed/vomited on a regular basis to a point where I had the band undone. Now I am petrified I have done this irreversible surgery and am doomed to eat slider foods for the rest of my life and remain fat bc the alternative is vomiting day in and day out. Sorry for all of this negativity but I am so scared that I have made a huge mistake and well, too late now so how am I going to minimize foamies/slimies/vomiting? Thanks all. Appreciate any insight u can give. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Getting Called Fat After WLS

Omgsh when I was smaller years ago and would diet lose 20 pounds I'd get called fat and so I know what you mean.... They say nothing before but when you start to lose boom your fat blah blah.... I think it's a jealousy thing and for people to feel better about them selves... but I'd get ugly and say something back bc I'm sure he's not all that and a bag of goodness haha Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Going down...

Sweet tea.... I know you are in the sleeve forums, but just wanted to check....you had a sleeve, not RNY? What was your starting weight or BMI, if you don't mind my asking? Just wondering bc I am losing sleep trying to decide between the sleeve and RNY.... Thanks! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  9. Yeah my surgeon is a jerk but he was the closet one that was in network so I was stuck with him. He also was indifferent when I told him I wasn't getting in my Protein shakes. He said don't worry about it but everyone else is so stuck on getting in the protein. The reason I'm kind of fed up with them is because it took a few different Protein Shakes to find one that wasn't too milky or too gritty. I loved the Premier Protein shakes before surgery now I think I'm lactose intolerant because when I drink them now I get bad diarrhea, stomach cramps or I end up throwing them up. So I tried to find some other ones with no milk but they only have the powder ones which I'm not sure how to make. Mixing it with just Water seems disgusting so I'll take the one person advise that said to mix it with sugar free pudding and give that a shot. I think pudding has milk in it though so not sure how that'll work. My nutritionist said don't give up dairy all together just try small amounts but honestly when I was drinking those shakes and it was going straight through me I almost got dehydrated so I'm a little weary of trying it again. Submitted to Blue Shield of California!

Still waiting. I called BS of CA and according to them, they haven't received any records from my doctor. The insurance rep called my doctor's office last Wednesday to verify and gave them their direct fax number to resubmit the records, but as of last Friday, the insurance was still waiting to receive the records, Sigh. I'm hoping that this was just a mixed up and the records are submitted but not showing in the insurance's system, otherwise I lost an entire week Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Other people

I just started going to church. Going in with not knowing anyone but the priest. I have not had my surgery yet either, but did anyone else feel like bc your bigger then normal no one wants to get to know you? Not one person has asked me who I am or my daughter, who is 7 years and very approachable. I feel like I'm nasty. But I'm pretty, clean, white teeth, dress normal no cleavage showing, and smiles a lot. June Surgery

I haven't tried any yet bc the post-op people keep saying that my tastes will completely change post-op.
  15. I think post surgery the answer would be who cares because you now have a tool to help you... I'm pre-op so I have been thinking about how did I get here... I do believe your genes influence your weight... I do believe if you came from the house where you were taught to clean your plate because there are people starving in Africa, you learn the wrong message about food early on... You get over fed, than you get fat... Than you get reminded how your fat and than food becomes more forbidden and negative... Next thing you start to find comfort in food, yet you know this is the thing that has made you fat.. In many ways it could be compared to the abused child who marries a partner who abuses them...I think the nurture part of it is deep and complicated. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. VSGAnn....thank you for this! I have read lots of your posts as I try to decide between RNY and sleeve.....I worry that there's not enough data on sleeve and that there is the opportunity to cheat the sleeve AND THEN I read your posts and I realize that if someone is committed and responsible like you, it could be the perfect tool. Your success and very committed attitude gives me hope. My BMI is 49 and I am 48 years old, so some doctors are suggesting RNY bc of those factors but again....I think of how well you did and I wonder if the sleeve might be enough of a tool for me, without the fear of nutritional deficiencies and rerouting my insides... Thank you for all your insight on these forums. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  17. Also let me add - I have gained 2 lbs ...my body fat % has been stuck at 47.5 since week 4 even after losing 5lbs then week 5 I hit another stall and it has been at 47.5 for two weeks. I am not on my period and i don't salt foods. I am tired and taking the day off of my exercise regimen bc my body is sore and im cranky. I'll get over it by tomorrow but today I'm in my feelings. Stall from week 2.5 to week 4 Stalled from week 5-7
  18. I had a stall at 3 weeks...that lasted a week and a half. I am now at 7 weeks and I am hitting 2 weeks now on another stall eating 30-40 carbs per day under 10 grams of sugar a day 6-800 cal per day and burning around 4,000 calories per day by walking 10k steps a day. I am getting 100% of my Protein drinking 120oz Water a day - less than 15 grams fat a day and I monitor my heart rate during cardio to make sure I'm I'm fat burn zone.i asked my NUT she said DO NOT increase calories stick to exactly what I'm doing . I feel like this isn't working for me bc I am literally killing myself to put in so much meticulous effort into doing all the right things yet I barely lose weight. Thyroid - fine Vitamin levels - fine Exercise - 7 days a week for 70-90 min I know they say ride it out but when I'm wearing my ass off trying to lose weight that phrase doesn't help.

    Brachioplasty Surgery

Your arms look SOOOO much better. Did you discuss expectations with your surgeon? Mine was careful I didn't have realistic expectations, especially with arms and thighs. He said you can only cut so much because there are a LOT of nerves and arteries in the arms and it's easy to cut too close to them and sever things. He warned me they wouldn't be perfectly tight. I didn't have any lipo bc my body fat was only 17% at the day of surgery, but that is often done as well so that is another possibility.

    Sick

Thank you all so much. She is doing much better. We still arent sure if it was a virus or not but basically i forced her to drink powerade. She also ate a piece of a grilled cheese sandwich, and weirdly enough she kind of perked right up after that lol. I think bc shes been having such a hard time eating anything, that her body was messed up in several ways. So i really appreciate everyones concern! The dr ended up goving her anti nausea and diarrhea meds too that did help
  21. So I get heartburn, probably 5-7 times a week. Esp if I lie down shortly after eating something, even a snack. Not terrible heartburn that last for hours, but I certainly feel it a bit and sometimes I grab some Tums. Is THAT GERD? Or is GERD another type of severe experience? Trying to decide between RNY and sleeve, and this GERD question might make it a lot easier. Bc I do know that I DON"T want to feel more frequent heartburn after my surgery. I just don't know if what I am feeling is normal, what most people have. Or if it's another one of those things I never consciously tied to my weight issue? Thanks!
  22. This scares me too! What happened to only getting WLS if you had 100 lbs or more to lose - or you had significant medical issues (diabetes) that would resolve with GB. When I see what is probably a "normal" sized person (except on the BMI chart) removing 80% of their stomach or re-routing their entire intestinal system to lose 40 - 50 lbs - I wonder what the hell were they thinking. I think this also gives a bad opinion of WLS in general and why some think it's the "easy way out". What was I thinking? Wanting to no longer be obese and on BP meds and not a fasting BS of 150.This due to being 50 - 60 pounds overweight. It's not an easy way out.
  23. It's no ones business but I tell ppl and I am not ashamed but rather proud! I needed a little help! Working from home to the last 4yrs didn't help! I did FMLA for work BC I requested time off and they only gave me 2 days...the butt heads! They tried to ask me but I told them it's against Federal law for them to ask! We did it for us and our families! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  25. Mo, man, thanks for response, damn I just dropped down to 195 - hell haven't weighed under 200 since I was literally a child. Feels incredible. My life spent living on advils, soma, flexerile, etc seem to be over I haven't taken anything for aches since surgery. As my friend says, "Pedro, if I hand you a backpack that weighs 95 lbs you're gonna look REAL quick to put it down somewhere" and he's right; that's a helluva lotta weight to have been luggin around on my back those years. I feel the biggest difference in little things you wouldn't think of, like the ease of tying my shoes, turning my head to look behind me in the car, walking up stairs; just strolling down the street I find myself thinking damn I feel good and light.... I kept telling myself that all the aches and pains were because of my age, and yes, there ARE extra pains as we age but I was BS-ing myself, it was the damn 100 freakin lbs. Let's DO this, Brother man....!! Keep me posted as you get down towards goal. By the way, my original goal was 215 ish, then when I passed that I realized, let's see where this all goes...
