It is so good to hear an update from you. I am so frustrated for you that you had to go through a stall because of conflicting information but at least you’re on track now. I am on a pretty similar plan my breakfast every morning is a proffee which is a caramel shake with iced coffee on top. Then I eat every three hours so luncheon dinner with two high protein snacks. this actually works well for me to remember all of my vitamins too because I have to take vitamins at five different times a day. that’s so exciting to hear about the clothes fitting and you were so lucky but you have someone to borrow. I think for me my most exciting moment was clearing out some of the things that are way too big for me now. I was actually thinking of asking my team if we could do a clothing exchange at the support group meeting. for the wheats, if you don’t have any look on marketplace consider discount stores as well. I checked several thrift stores for mine, and apparently they sell them separately because I found them in several stores but only one. I ended up finding some at a discount store for 599 for the set. Alternatively, check your library, city, and county websites for classes that use weights. Mine has all the weights there for you to use. And the group classes are really fun, Inexpensive and there’s no commitment. At mine it’s a really cool environment too. It’s nothing like a gym. The women are just average women that are there to get healthy. Nothing competitive whatsoever everyone choose each other on to beat their own personal best or just totally mines their own business. They even gave me my first class free to see if I liked it. I’m sure I mentioned that I started with yoga. I never in 1 million years would’ve considered myself someone who would survive one yoga class never mind love it. Of course I’m horrible and can’t do half of but it’s still a workout and I am getting more flexible and my balance is getting a bit better because of it anyways, congratulations on your loss and finding your groove. Keep doing what you’re doing and keep us posted. -
Report Your WINS ..What is your today's win??🥇

So today I’m two weeks post op and was my first big trip into the city. I went to my crochet group so I was just driving and then sitting but I was still excited that it wasn’t too painful and the three hours out didn’t Tucker me out too much. Also, while I was driving I noticed that my seat seemed too far back. I just asked my hubby to make sure he didn’t do it while I was in hospital and he says no so I guess my butt is a little smaller. My first NSV having to adjust the seat. -
Struggling 😔
Clark Griswold replied to Bypass2Freedom's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Really struggling this week and for no particular reason. Its hard to articulate, but I feel fat even though I am still losing and am now living an active lifestyle. I cant place my finger on why but having a 'fat' week where I feel like I've gone back to pre-surgery feelings about my size. I was doing so well mentally until this week. Anyone else feel like this randomly -
Offer to be the designated driver. Nurse one glass for hours (did that a lot & still do it but for an hour or so now). Say you’re not really in the mood to drink. Or you have been fighting a headache all day & you don’t want it to come back. Or if you’ve realised you’ve been drinking a bit lately & decided to have a dry couple of weeks. They will notice your weight loss soon if not now so you could be semi truthful and say you’re making a few changes and trying to lose some weight. Whatever you decide to say add you’re glad to see them and to spend time with them & make sure they know you’re okay with them drinking or eating whatever they want.

I haven't checked in in a while. I got super busy with haunt season starting and getting into the groove of working weekends. So far, everything has been going well. I haven't had any dumping, overeating, etc. I'm on regular diet now with a daily goal of 64oz of protein but I blow through that and usually hit over 100. I am still supplementing with a Fairlife either for breakfast or a snack before going to the gym. Last night was my first time eating out out (I've done Sunday breakfast but it's always an egg). We went to BJs and it's crazy how hyperaware you become of portions. In the past, we would get an app, entree, and dessert. My kids are having "sympathy pains" and have started eating smaller portions so we only got entrees. In the past, I would have gotten a burger or sandwich with fries and eaten the whole thing. I ended up getting a chicken breast dish and brought enough home to have lunch for the next two days. The weight loss has been up and down since I weigh daily right now. I won't say I've stalled because if I just looked at my Monday entries, it shows a consistent loss. This week is the first week that people have noticed and I can see a difference when I look in the mirror. I donated almost half my closet of size 18/20 items that were just too big. I'm in a size 16, almost a 14 and I went from a 2XL shirt to a large. -

On Sunday morning, I was 118kg. Monday I was 118.8 and now I'm 119kg again! I'm still sticking with the diet! I don't understand it! My scale is a smart scale with body composition and says I'm losing muscle, but not fat! I'm getting more than enough protein? I've heard of stalls, but you shouldn't gain during a stall, right? -
possible to stall after 9 day?
DaisyChainOz replied to DaisyChainOz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the detailed reply. It makes perfect sense that the loss is going on in spite of the lack of movement on the scales. My Dietician said the same to me yesterday at our first post surgery apt last night. I don't agree with the "don't weigh everyday" mantra myself. It would be no less disappointing or frustrating to find out after a week the scales haven't moved. for me it would be far worse!! YMMV of course. -

Yay! Really felt the visual benefits of mid-October brachioplasty today with new winter vest, shirt and scarf ensemble. I begin physical therapy tomorrow to work out elbow knots + soreness, ensure overall range of motion and optimum healing results 13 weeks out. I am pleased with the continued process and results. -

Hi ladies. How's everyone doing? Share updates and losses and NSV x I've been doing very well. I'm 83kg and almost 7 months post op (well in a week) 26kg loss and my surgical team are happy and proud. I look fantastic and feel it. We are currently fasting (holy month of ramadhan) so I've been focusing on dehydrating more than food as doctors are more concerned about dehydration then starvation haha which is unlikely teehee but I've been doing well especially after getting a fancy stanley 😄 -
Yes, the ulcers were definitely the culprits. I had an EGD (upper scope) to confirm it. I was slowly bleeding out. The weekly IV-iron infusions haven't shown any rapid results. I've been told that this is a slow process and could take weeks, if not months, before my labs are in ideal ranges. My hemoglobin is no longer in the fives. It is only in the eights, but that's progress. I am still dragging. No energy. I am a food pantry volunteer. I also provide transportation to at least three families who don't have a car. A homeless man named Gordon relies on me to help him with enough water and protein-rich canned food for the week. My husband keeps telling me that I can't help anyone unless I help myself (heal) first. It's hard for me to do that. It was during one of these pantry trips that I passed out in the parking lot (while in the lineup car queue for assistance). I hadn't been diagnosed at that point, so it was quite scary. Fortunately, one of the families I pick up for was with me. Who knows what would have happened had I been alone... I have other conditions that helped to mask the problem. For one, I have Hashimoto's, a common thyroid disorder. I was used to being fatigued from that. I am also a chronic pain patient and take heavy doses of morphine, so I am used to being in pain (and anemia hurts.) My daughter is a PharmD and two of my three sons are M.D.s so I have plenty of support and knowledge in my corner. My primary doctor is also my youngest son's medical school classmate. She is like a daughter to me... Which just goes to show that a person can have all these medical types in your life... and STILL succumb to something like this.

2 weeks before my sleeve and I'm pregnant. Birth control fail. I cannot believe my life right now. All that work and testing for nothing. Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app

I had MGB a week ago and all and all I feel good BUT.. when I go to sit up from laying down, stand up or even sit up straight all the way it burns about 2 inches to the left of my belly button. BAD. It feels like something is going to rip apart. I don’t have any incisions there either. Has anyone else experienced this? TIA

January 2025 Surgery Buddies!
PoppyVelvet replied to Melissa💖💜💙's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi everyone, I’m new here. Surgery is the 21st and I’m on day five of the pre-op liver shrinking diet. Nine days to go! I haven’t been struggling with the diet too much; I think having a mental countdown helps! Although in bed last night I was thinking fondly of fried eggs on well-buttered toast. And sitting in front of the tv this afternoon I’d love some snacks but that’s just habit. i am going to Sydney for the surgery, I live in Canberra, which is about 300km away. I have to stay a week total, two days in hospital then the rest in an AirBNB I’ve booked. We’re flying because my husband doesn’t drive and I don’t want to (a) pay for a weeks parking in the Sydney CBD or (b) have to drive home if I’m not feeling 100%. Good luck everyone having surgery in January! -

That milk of magnesia is a miracle worker. I started with the lower dose even and it wasn’t two maybe three hours later and I’m good to go. I’ve not really ever dealt with constipation if you can’t tell. 😆 -
possible to stall after 9 day?
DaisyChainOz replied to DaisyChainOz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I found out Magnesium laxative works! 🥵 The evil has left the building!! 😆🥳 Thank you very much everyone, for the support, I woke up to find a 200gm (half poundish) drop today, so that's something!! I am looking forward to hitting my first mini goal this week (under 100kg) and am very close, so have been sweating it a bit!! -
I hope everyone was successful during their holidays! I actually lose a couple pounds this week, so huge win, when this would be the time I gain weight (from Halloween to Christmas).

Can this be done alone?
BigSue replied to MrBeeswax's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had gastric bypass surgery and did everything alone. I live alone, no husband, no kids, no local family, and I didn't tell anyone other than healthcare providers that I was having surgery. I took a taxi to the hospital. Hospital policy does not allow taking taxis/rideshare or public transportation home, so I hired a home healthcare service to pick me up from the hospital (I was in for one night), take me home, and pick up my prescriptions. After that, I had no additional assistance. The most limiting thing after surgery was not lifting more than 20 pounds for (I think) the first 6 weeks, and also not bending over, like when cleaning or doing laundry, so I had to be careful with household chores, but other than that, I didn't have any problems. I went back to work (desk job) after a week and I was fine. I will say I had a very easy recovery with no immediate complications, but you won't know how your recovery will go until you get there. I would recommend to anyone without support to have a backup plan. Is there a friend or family member who could come if needed? Could you hire a home healthcare service if you needed help? Also, if there is any physical labor your normally do, like cleaning or landscaping, consider lining up someone to do that for a while. -
Slowing Down 😶🌫️
Spinoza replied to Bypass2Freedom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Things absolutely do slow down, for the reasons the others have said. I lost almost 10 stones with my sleeve, half my starting weight. 9 stones of that was in the first year post op (with many stalls towards the end that made me think I was done) and 1 stone was in the subsequent 9 or 10 months. In the last few months I was honestly losing half a pound a month or less. It's fascinating looking back. The concept I am most happy to have learned on this board is that of a new set point. Once I knew that our bodies can decide early after surgery what weight it now wants to maintain, I felt less like the driver and more like a passenger who could sit back and just enjoy the ride. No actually - not quite sit back - follow the rules strictly to enable the smooth journey to my new set point. Mine ended up a bit lower than my 'goal' (plucked out of thin air) weight. Lots of people's seem to end up much higher. All of this is fine if we can make our peace with it. I get the feeling you have much more to squeeze out of your procedure @Bypass2Freedom. I do understand the frustration when you're following the rules to the letter but not losing. It's steps and stairs always - never a linear loss (well not for me). You're doing this. -
Report Your WINS ..What is your today's win??🥇
Hiddenroses replied to Mspretty86's topic in Rants & Raves
Love LOVE seeing all your wins!! I'm excited by the way my clothes are fitting now, especially when I wear something that actually FITS - I feel like ITKYK - sometimes my belly just isn't feeling a snug waist band or a bra tightly cinched around my chest. (Usually after a meal, when I accidentally gulp too much water too fast, or after taking my morning medicine. Something about taking my three pills in the morning just leaves me feeling icky. I think it's the capsules before they make their way down, IDK) I like that the tops I was comfortable wearing pre-surgery (and kept)can pretty much be worn as nighties now. The other day I was able to wear a big poofy sweatshirt OVER a huge oversized flannel and look like I was swimming in both. I'm was into more grunge style clothing in my youth and it was absolutely something I would have worn as a teenager when I was hiding my body. Conversely, I can wear a properly fitting shirt now in a 2x, down from a 5x, and it be flattering. I took a look at myself closely in the mirror yesterday and could see how my hips and back have changed. I definitely can tell the difference in the size of my arms and the way bras got too big. Keeping up with bras that fit is my biggest challenge right now! -
Anyone have a trick to detoxing from carbs. I swear they are like a drug to me and I have a little bit of processed carbs and I crave them for weeks. I will do it somehow but it’s not easy for me. I can do healthy carbs without issues. It the processed ones that I’m addicted to.

Lately, I've been eating quite comfortably, and honestly, it's scaring me. I had a week where the scale didn’t move, and just when I started panicking, boom – down 1.7 kg the next week. But here’s the thing... every time I feel confident in my weight loss, I start getting too comfortable, and that makes me so uneasy. And the weirdest part? I’ve become a sweet girl! Like, I actually crave sugar now, which I never used to before. WHY?! 😭 There are no actual signs of regain, but that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t be worried, right? My brain is panicking even though nothing bad is happening (yet). I have a friend who also had gastric bypass, and she keeps telling me: 👉 “Don’t worry, you will lose weight no matter what – that’s what bypass does.” But how true is this??! 😭😭 I feel like I can’t fully trust it, and I don’t want to get too relaxed and regret it later. Someone please tell me I’m not losing my mind. 😣 -

Zoloft Tablets make me extremely sick Post op .. any idea what I should do ?
Tinatolb replied to Dk2181's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I feel your pain! I have been lowering my dose from 150mg down by 50 each week to this week where i stopped taking it due to the same reasons you stated. I just can’t stand it now but i really do need it. It’s a struggle. I tried capulets to sprinkle but it’s the same as tablets. Asking dr for liquid later today but I’ve been totally off of it for 5 days and withdraw symptoms are as real as when i started taking it years ago. GB was on 10/31 and between this and the horrible air bubbles when i try to eat or drink anything that cause pain and make me never want to eat again, i am not a happy camper.
