    Do you supplement with protein shakes or protein waters. The waters were my go to to reach my goal that early out. Another thing is the drinkable yogurts. I have all three on hand in case I’m low on protein through my meals. If so, I have one as a snack. I have actually made the drinkable yogurt myself with a regular yogurt and almond milk and a little fruit in a blender. Mine actually taste better.

    Thank you amber, this is great suggestions for my coning days. My program now only count protein. I am still in liquid stage, in 2 more days i move to puree food then 2 more week whole food which is when i will need to make the real adjustment to food choices for my life forward. Reading this fourm, with many great experiences give me hope but it is for sure not an easy journey, but easy journey got me where i am now

    Hey! I had the bypass, so I am just going to copy & paste the information that my nutritionist & medical team gave me regarding vitamins etc, because I also obsessed over it! A-Z Multivitamin and Minerals containing 2mg of copper. This means if you are lucky enough to get Forceval on prescription, you only need 1 Forceval tablet a day.     Very true. My biggest obstacle is my own impatience. I want to hurry up and get to real food, being so sick of protein shakes. I just started my soft phase, so thankfully I can now have eggs, beans, white fish, cooked vegetables. I just keep looking ahead to everything I will be able to do once some more weight comes off. I have also just booked a Mexican Riviera cruise for January 2026 to celebrate the new me and my new life one year from my surgery. No more "rewarding" myself with unhealthy food choices, and instead I'll be rewarding myself with things that focus on my self-care. Like taking a cruise I'll be going by myself, but it's not the first time. I'm very excited. 😊
  6. I tried unflavored protein powder in the hospital. Made my broth taste and smell like dog food. Lord forgive me. Lol I just couldn’t. It was the nestle brand. Beneprotein. Any suggestions for a better unflavored protein?

A good tip would be to have a mix fat and carbs every couple of hours to help you steady your weight so things like dates + tahini or nuts, Avocado milkshakes, full fat chocolate milk and a couple of tbsps. of peanut butter, Full fat yogurt with nuts, full fat milk with honey, just generally nothing low carb/low fat. For me personally, protein fills me up way too quick so maybe try high fat, high carb moderate or lower protein until you stabilize. Sorry you are going through this, please make sure to see your healthcare provider ASAP.

    Here's my one-week update after making some adjustments! I've been focusing on protein-rich meals and keeping my intake under 1,000 calories, leaving a bit of room for those extra nibbles. My protein has been between 70-100 grams, and guess what, ladies? I lost 2.2 kg this week, bringing my total loss to 16 kg! I'm so thrilled—I feel leaner, lighter, and fresher, with no hunger cues at all (which feels strange, honestly). If all goes well, I’ll be out of the 90s in just two weeks, which feels like a dream come true!

    When to measure food

    Choose the one that comes up around 21g protein. I know that if you weigh out a 3oz serving (weight after cooking), you're getting roughly 21g protein, whether it's chicken breast, steak, or salmon.

    So Scared Now, Please HELP!

    Hello there and welcome! I was sleeved about 8 weeks ago now and I spent countless hours, days and months before surgery stressing about every little thing that I read and heard. Right up until surgery I was still hyperventilating! I totally understand how you feel right now. Now I'm on the other side I have to say there are some major challenges for me to deal with. I have been big my entire life and this is like a baptism by fire to me. What do I mean by that? Well I knew I had a food issue especially comfort eating but I didn't realise how bad it was until after my surgery. Head hunger is my biggest enemy I crave food a lot of times during my day. Interestingly enough I don't really crave junk food anymore because I have avoided that from the get go, I just miss the comfort of eating more if that makes sense. I did feel really drained and miserable months before surgery, I was so afraid of things going terribly wrong too, but I was Ok and it was worth it. I don't regret it and I am still early days. I have lost over2 and a half stone in that time and I am feeling much better than I was pre op. Now, you say you don't enjoy healthy food but what do you class a healthy? You will eventually be able to eat chicken, lean beef and pork mince, fish, cheese, yogurts, protein drinks, protein puddings and much more. You will also be surprised how much your tastes and cravings change post op, I know! I didn't believe it either! I make a healthy version of pizza with my own low calorie wholemeal base and low fat protein cheese with ham. It tastes better than the one I used to have before and it is a much healthier version. There's literally loads of ways you can alter your favourite foods to make them lower in calories and healthier too. Get on Pinterest and tiktok there's so much content out there for bariatric surgery patients. The main thing I should tell you with absolute certainty is that the sleeve is a tool not a quick fix. You really need to be fully prepared for the changes it will bring. You will need to put in the hard head work and explore a healthier way of life, Be willing to try healthier food and you may learn to like it. You will not be able to eat unhealthy food and get all the nutrients you need from your diet. If you are certain this is what you want to do then you need to research. you said you don't like healthy food but you also said you don't know how to eat healthy. This is where your research will come in. I noticed you said that you can't find the discipline but when you have a smaller tummy you physically can't eat as much, you will be in a lot of pain and then you will throw up! I wish you all the best on your journey, it's a hell of a ride! x

    Day 11 after surgery

    You’re doing fine! I am 142 days post op. I was able to walk short distances on day 4-5(about 2 mile). Around day 15, I could walk 7-10k steps daily pretty easily. There was a bit of pain like a stomach cramp but it wasn’t too much just an uncomfortable lump in the stomach while I walked hard or fast. As for the soup thing, I know this isn’t good advice but this is what I did to stay a bit sane. I used to put a small piece of something in my mouth would chew and then spit it out. To get my tastebuds out of their torture. You could try fat free Greek yogurt to alternate between your soup flavors. 1 cup of yogurt, mix with water and salt to taste and enjoy your sour yogurt. As for the carb and fat thing you’re still in the recovery phase so don’t really worry about that. Once you reach day 30 and can eat normally, the goal would be to eat a similar ratio of carbs and protein daily. Example: 100g of protein and 100g of carbs. Don’t be afraid of carbs and fats though! They fuel the body and help the organs work! You need them to have energy to do stuff!

    Yep, me. I never lost my hunger at all. I've just had to learn that if I follow my plan, I'm getting enough food. I ignore it by staying busy, working a lot, and keeping busy so I'm not focused on it. I make sure to have 3 meals and 3 snacks per day and prioritize protein, then healthy fats, then fiber, then carbs.

    I need help and advice

    Semaglutide (and other various GLP-1 agonists) effectiveness can be dose dependent. 4 weeks is likely not long enough to see changes especially if you are still at the starting dose. According to a meta analysis reviewing multiple trials “We observed that aside from the administration of semaglutide, reduced calorie diet and increased physical activity were also part of the intervention. Hence, semaglutide alone probably will not be able to achieve an 11.85% weight loss” https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9758543/ Take a look at your early post op diet plan and give that a try again. If you didn’t have one, I can share that mine was protein forward (80g minimum) with minimal carbs (under 50 g and mostly complex) and low fat (20g) and almost no calories from drinks unless they are protein shakes. *edited to add: These meds can cause constipation so any weight gain could be due to that You really should consider checking in with the prescribing/administering physician to ask about your progress.     Omg this foods cooking smells so good. I’ve been lucky since surgery that it’s just my hubby and I and he is not a big eater and usually makes whatever he wants on the grill. I had a protein shake for breakfast but my mouth is watering. Idk if I’m gonna be able to control myself today. I mean portion wise I will but I’ve gotta taste a little bit of it all.

    IM HUNGRY!!!!!!

    I get that, I said that for about two weeks and amazingly I turned the corner a few days ago. Yes, I'm still hungry but I am forcing my self to drink more protein drinks (cafe mocha) in-between meals and lots more water. I found both has helped me considerably and I am used to getting hungry so it's not as bad now. How are you feeling now?

    Psych evaluation?

    They gave me a questionaire to fill out online and sign. One of the questions was what meds are you on and do you suffer from any mental illnesses and I put yes and told them I was on some antipsychotics and mood stabilizers. I'm sure that will come up during the interview but I was afraid that would make me fail the evaluation but if it's easy to pass as long as you're getting the surgery for the right reasons than I guess I have nothing to worry about. The evaluation is today in about 5 hours from now. Mine is through video too. I had the option of driving to my psych eval but I decided to do it through telehealth instead.

    Surgery tomorrow

    Hey congrats! I wanted to let you know while I myself haven't been through this surgery, my mom has had it. She said it doesn't hurt as bad as you'd think. Plus they are pretty good about giving you what you need to be comfy med wise. I will be having mine the 14th of next month, and I'm pretty nervous too. I think the biggest thing is going to be sticking to directions. Making sure not to drink during meals, waiting for so long before and after, getting in enough water or protein. But I think it will go well, please keep us updated on how it goes for you ❤️ You've got this!
  22. I like the compliments but I also use it as fuel to stop eating and to keep trying. After all the nasty rude comments this is a welcome change to my ego and when I’m exhausted and exercising I focus on the good changes and push on. After my surgery I hit an almost 4 weeks of no weight loss. It was heartbreaking and I almost gave up. Those positive comments kept me trying and sticking to the diet. My problem was I was on the wrong type of protein supplement but it was torture. Take the compliment as a positive. I tell people I will be the grandma on the beach wearing a thong and looking fabulous . YEAH.
  23. I am having my surgery in December and getting ready to start my liver shrinking diet for a week followed by my liquid diet. Wanted to get some inout and ideas on what some other people have eaten and drank during their pre-op liver shrinking diet or liquid diet. I have some unflavored protein powder coming in and some soups with nochunks or anything, just want to add some other things in my list for ideas. Thank you for all input and help everyone!

    possible to stall after 9 day?

    Well loss still excruciatingly slow here! 😩 I had a weird thing with the scales this week. I was 97.4 kg, then the battery died in my scale, so changed it, to find I was up to 98.8 WTF!! Hubster weighed he was also 1.5kg above where he had been. We now don't know if pre or post battery change is correct! And I don't feel like I have lost any, still feeling very fat. Eating an average of 800 cals, but makes little difference if I eat much more or less. It's a bit over a month since surgery, and I have lost 8 kg or 16lbs, most of that in the first week. I am trying to meet water and protein goals, not always hitting it, but do often (avg 67gm from 70 goal) Despairing a bit here tbh.
  25. Hi guys, I had my Sleeve 9 days ago, and am averaging 430 cals per day. Trying to get my 2 litres of water, but mostly 1.5 or so. Still on liquid diet, having one shake in the morning and 2 x 125ml (half cup) serves of home made soup with protein powder for lunch/dinner. At first the weight was falling off at .5kg (1lb) or more a day. but the last 3 days it hasn't dropped, in fact this morning it was 200 gm (half lb) up. Not panicking, I know that there will be stalls, but I didn't think at this early stage 🥲 I also know I probs shouldn't weigh everyday, but I *have* to 😝 Today I thought I might try to up the cal intake a bit and get a bit more steps in. Anyone else have this so early?
