  1. try the pureed foodstuffs. Im nervous about getting nauseous and vomiting it up! I had a scrambled egg this morning and could only eat half of it because I was full. I have eaten yogurt and egg drop Soup just fine. I would love some ideas on where to start with this pureed diet situation? Btw, can we have string cheese??
  2. Today I was experimenting with my morning shake and it came out so smooth and rich, it was as sweet and decadent as any fast food shake I have ever eaten that I thought I would share . First the statistics: 295 Calories 3 Grams Fat 37 Grams Protein 27 Grams Carbs Ingredients : 1 scoop milk chocolate shake mix 1/2 cup skim milk 1/2 cup plain yogurt 1 scoop Isopure Unflavored Protein Mix and 1/2 cup Ice. Blend together in your blender. I had mine between 8 am and 10 am (it makes 16 ounces so it takes awhile to get it all down) but haven't been hungry all day. I have been sipping on the Isopure Infusions throughout the day, striving to get 8 ounces down every hour. I cannot believe how good I am feeling so soon after my surgery. I also wan ted to let you all know how glad I am that I found this website and how much I appreciate the postings from you all.

    Best Protein ??

Have to start using protein powder a couple times a day by drinking or adding to yogurt. Does anyone have any favorites? That can be purchased at a store not on line.
  4. I had this very same thing last week. I thought I was going nuts! It felt like constant hunger pains! I am on 40 mg of omeprazole a day. I took a zantac, and I took tums, and none of it seemed to help. When I called my surgeon, his PA told me to go ahead and add refried beans, and yogurt to my diet. (I was one week post-op) That did the trick. I think it all started after my first BM since surgery. All of the sudden it was like everything woke up, you know?
  5. It is really hard around the holidays and I get alot of support from home and co-workers etc. But I think it is a little more difficult in this month due to celebrations and festivities. My husband is supportive, but I do not think it is fair for me to change their diet and cook "differently" for them. Its hard enough that I am not as festive as usual and choose not to travel. So I just carry on as usual and when its mealtime, I go in my room with my shake and a diet soda:rolleyes2: I tell my husband to throw away all leftovers down the disposal when they are finished eating so I am less tempted to take a bite of the leftovers. What is everyone's pre-op diet? Mine seems extreme (shakes, yogurt, and clear liquids). ~Jackie~
  6. Hi folks. Hope everyone had a happy, successful holiday. I just had a couple slices of turkey and a spoonful of au-gratin potatoes. I was completely satisfied and full. Simply amazing! October 3 surgery date and 64 lbs gone! Here's the tip: I was having difficulty taking all my medicine crushed. I used both yogurt and applesauce to mask the flavor of the different BP meds, the Ursodiol, the Iron pill, etc. The medicine would always leave a terrible taste in my mouth & it would last for an hour or more. Then I discovered Popsicle pops again (loved 'em as a kid). Only diffence is, I'm buying them sugar-free now. These really do the trick to get rid of the medicine aftertaste. Try it. No calories, no sodium, no fat, and of course, no carbs. They also are an easy, awesome way to help keep you hydrated. You can have as many as you want, as often as you want. Enjoy!

    Morning nausea

I'm 5 weeks post op as well and I'm in the same boat! I don't have any advice, but I can certainly sympathize... The nausea seems to be a little better when I drink some skim milk or eat some yogurt first thing in the morning, but that doesn't always work.... I hope you feel better soon! *hugs*
  8. This is what I have for my pre-op diet. It is for 1 week with Dr. Illan. Any suggestions along these guidelines for yummy stuff? - Broth: low sodium - Soup: tomato, strained cream Soups, strained soups, - Tea: decaf, fake sugar - Coffee: decaf, fake sugar - Jello: sugar free - Popsicles: sugar free - Pudding: sugar free - Fudgesicles: sugar free - Juice: Fruit > crystal light, sugar free, - Juice: Vegetable > diet v-8 splash, - Milk: skim 1% (limit 2 cups per day), almond milk (no limit) - Yogurt: Greek, fat free, no fruit pieces, low sugar - Protein shakes: sugar free, almond milk, few pieces of fruit or sugar free syrup, fake sugar
  9. I am on full liquids, my problem is I dislike anything milky so I can't do Protein shakes or yogurt without vomiting. Looking for new ideas or suggestions I may not have thought of. I'm allowed cottage cheese, pudding, applesauce and cream of Soups. These were the nutritionist suggestions. Thanks!

    first Dr visit today

Hooray! Congratulations! My surgery was 3/25 and I've lost 10 pounds consuming between 600-800 calories a day. Is your calorie intake more/less? I see the doctor this afternoon and hope to be cleared for Stage 3. Do you feel any restrictions when eating? I've been able to eat yogurts on Stage 2, but haven't ever had any restrictive feelings when eating or drinking. This is probably a good thing, but it seems like most people do have some restrictive feelings when eating/drinking. I am so worried about stretching my sleeve out move to regular eating.
  11. I am currently in the postop purée phase, and my doc said WENDYS chili is ok. So tonight was a busy night and I bought a small chili and it puréed really nice and tasted great. I could only eat a little less than a quarter cup but it was a welcome change from tuna, eggs and yogurt. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. Easy to make Low Calorie Yogurt Dressing will taste great over many types of salads also. ENJOY! 13. Ok. I have two separate isues.... The first being my issues with yogurt....all yogurt. I cannot get it down! It just did there making me sooooo uncomfortable. Anyone else have issues with yogurt? I have the perfect restriction....and love my band...i just wish I could have yogury for breakfast or a snack if needed.... Secondly I have been getting kidney stones like crazy! Had my third one in two months this weekend.....saw a uroligist and he said that people who lose weight can get them more often....also high protein diets can contribute to them too....the thing that stumped the dr wad that I drink a ton of water (more than 70 oz a day) and hVe no pop at all! Anyone else struggle with this? Love my band! Down 70 lbs since may
  14. Just curious to see if anyone has tried this frozen Greek Yogurt and whether or is ok for sleevers?

What are you eating post op?

I am 5.5 weeks post op (every day matters!). I am back to work and can eat a little bit of anything although raw veggies like baby carrots is not good. I am still relying on a protein drink of some sort to get in easy protein but yogurt, eggs, and chicken are my mains. For breakfast I had 1 egg and half a piece of toast. Lunch and snack will be yogurt. I have had no slime incidents, but, came close with the carrots!!

What are you eating post op?

For the first week post, i was eating clear liquids; drinking rather. I was allowed to progress to semisolid foods beginning the 2nd week post op. At that time my eating consisted of refrained beans, low fat string cheese, yogurt, egg whites, sugar free pudding, 1% cottage cheese and various protein fortified desserts. I have been cleared to progress past semisolid foods at my discretion and will try fish today for dinner. Mahi mahi is one of my favorites!

    Morning tightness

It depends for me. Some mornings I can have breakfast after coffee and sometimes I cant but I can at least get in a greek yogurt or oatmeal. I have to eat something in the morning because no shake is going to keep me until lunch time.
  18. My surgery was Aug 27th. I was 350 day of surgery and now I'm at a standstill at 265. Before I could only eat 6oz. The size of a yogurt cup. Recently I increased going to the gym and am now Gibson.g myself so hungry. Today I had soup and then lunch was 3 inches of a turkey hoagie. All low fat. But not even an hour later my stomach was growling so bad and I was hungry again so I ate the other 3" of the hoagie. I'm not supposed to track calories but I am supposed to track portions. Am I eating to much??? Is there anyone else hungry like me? And how about going to the gym, is anyone really hungry afterwards?

    3 months out

You could try Beans. They will add carbs, but they are a good source of Protein. Lentils, black beans and split peas have the highest protein. You can blend them in a Soup or eat them whole. I sometimes have black beans with a sunny side up egg and a slice of avocado. Lentils I like in a soup with onions and mushrooms. Split peas I make a chunky soup and garnish with pepitas and a scoop of Greek yogurt instead of sour cream. Good thing about beans is they won't make you constipated Be careful of bananas - they are high in sugar. I think Apples & bananas have the highest amount of sugar, but I'd have to google to confirm. I also added raw spinach to my smoothies early on. Since they were pulverized they weren't hard to digest.
  20. I plan on having a shake on the 20 minute commute every day. Water in between clients. hard boiled eggs, egg salad, chili, yogurt, meatballs, tuna salad, chicken salad, crab dip...all great options. any other ideas? i'm SURE i'm over looking all sorts of options. i'm on softs now and doing great but trying hard to incorporate all the 'requirements' of Protein, carbs, fats, water, that my nut outlined. i only have a couple days left so no time to buy anything on internet for now, but that's an option later on. i just want to get back into a solid groove and get my eating in! thanks

    Ugh, still feel hungry!

Premier Protien shakes are also very good. 30g of protien low carbs only 160 calories and the chocolate is just like chocolate milk 2%. I was lucky with my liquids starting day 4 I was allowed anything that could fit through a straw so I thinned yogurt out with milk and ate that. It was filling. if you are looking for protien the greek plain yogurt tastes a lot like sour cream maybe you could try that in your soups instead. I use it on taco recipes instead of sour cream it honestly tastes great and punches up the protien.
  22. I was not able to really eat anything (except yogurt and over easy eggs) for almost 8 weeks- it's different for everyone, but just because you are cleared for pureed/soft foods doesn't mean they will go down easy. If it doesn't go well the first time, try again the next week. I literally woke up at 8 weeks able to eat pretty much anything and MUCH more of it- I can't decide if that's a good thing or a bad thing
  23. Think about you too! I had to keep a timer at the table at first and time two-five minutes in between bites and 60 second chewing. It was annoying but worth it. Chew chew chew and do not reach for a drink. Also use a baby spoon/fork - it definitely helped me. If you still have problems then go back to yogurt and foods you can tolerate for a week and try again, as others have said already.
  24. We fly out tomorrow at 6! So many emotions but one us hunger. Day 3 of yogurt and water and I could hurt someone over a hamburger. Heck even a pc of fruit right about now!!
  25. When i saw the nutrtionist we talked about foods i liked, eating habits and focused on what to eat post op. I have been weighing in with my regular doctor not the nutrtionist though. There is not really a set plan that she has for me. she just told me greek yogurt or eggs for bfest Protein and veggies or salad for lunch and the same for dinner. I have been following that plan, she said she was proud that i had lost 2 lbs, but i feel like it should be more.
