  1. So I was able to make my old saddle work by adding a seat shrinker pad. It was actually quite comfy. But now my butt has shrunk so much that even that is too big. So I splurged on a new (used) saddle this week! I've always ridden western until my last saddle which was an aussie with a horn. SO comfy! I will never ride anything but an aussie again. So in my search for one that fit both me and my horse, the winner was a Muster Master from Australian Stock Saddle Company. It is a crossover saddle, which basically means it fits and looks like an aussie, but takes a regular western cinch and has a western fleece bottom instead of the aussie serge panels. The other thing is this one doesn't have a horn. This will definitely take some getting used to and some creative rigging options, because I mostly use the horn to dally my lead rope, hook my drink holder onto, and drape my head stall and reins on when trailering. First ride is tomorrow....can't wait!

    Big NSV for me..............

Oh Jess! This is a marvelous NSV! Congratulations my friend, you have taken control of your life! *hugs*
  3. I am 5 weeks out and a slooow loser. I've lost almost 20 lbs. On top of that, i've gained 3 lbs after going in from being dehydrated and now being properly hydrated. I was sad, but this morning I took a double take in the morning when I saw signs that my hourglass figure is coming back. I've decided I am not going to weight myself until this pair of xxl pants from Old Navy fit me. They go up, but don't close like by 3 inches. Is a small victory, and wanted to share it. Ready to take on the weekend!!!
  4. Thanks y'all for the responses!!! So, I was talking to him tonight and he seems to be coming around, maybe, lol. He said, "I don't know baby, part of me wants to tell you to go for it because I know it's what you really want to do but the other part of me is still thinking about how crazy having 85% of your stomach cut out seems." It's an improvement y'all! LOL Bless his heart. As far as not wanting someone else to make this decision for me, I understand those sentiments. But, I also know that when I really want to do something, even though I seek the Lord's guidance for everything, I sometimes mistake my fleshly desires and reasons as His answer. In our marriage, when it comes to things that will affect not just the one person but the whole family, we both make sure and pray for God's answer, not ours. So, when I said that if my husband felt like he was led by the Lord to not be for this, I would have to really take that seriously. I know this may not make much sense to some, lol. But, I just wanted y'all to know I'm not married to some control freak or anything, lol. He's an amazing man who I trust with my life and who I know seeks the Lord's guidance in everything too and if he felt to his core that God was not giving him peace about this, I would have to listen because I trust him and know him well enough to know that he wouldn't just say that to keep me from doing something, it would be, literally, the God's honest truth. Trust me, I'm spoiled ROTTEN and he would bend heaven and earth to give me anything I ask for and has, 'til now:wink0: And will with this too if we are both given the green light from Above. Ok, so obviously, y'all know more about me now. Hope ya didn't mind that little marriage bio there, lol. Thanks again for all the replies! I really hope to get to know y'all alot better! You ladies are some amazing and strong women!! I spent an hour or so reading over the NSV's thread. SO inspiring, heartwarming and funny!!! Oh I PRAY that I get to be posting on there soon with my little ticker in my signature!! Hey, maybe my hubby's quote up there at the top of this post could be considered my first little NSV huh? LOL Have an awesome night ladies and fellas!! God Bless y'all! Krystal

    1. I am in a size 18 Old Navy jeans! Not their plus size, their regular 18's!!! (oh, and I can breathe) They are SO cute and comfy 2. I bought a bathing suit for the first time in forever! 3. I bought another pair of shorts, that I WILL wear in public. 4. I am wearing a diamond horseshoe necklace that my hubby bought me 2 years ago, that has always been a little too snug on the neck. It isn't snug anymore!!! Just wanted to share with my LBT family! Today is a good day.

    Very Hard

TPN: total parenteral nutrition https://en.wikipedia...teral_nutrition Folks as a general rule of thumb please don't throw out acronyms unless they are in common usage, e.g. VSG, NSV etc. BTW: TinaMarie, I did a double and triple take on your avatar, couldn't figure out just what part of the body it was showing
  8. Hello, THis morning I was standing in the mirror and realized the roll of fat that used to be present was gone and now I have one smooth waist line. It's still thick but at least it is smooth. I am so happy. I am on my way to the gym. I can't get dressed fast enough. I am so motivated!
  9. I chose to tell only a few friends about the surgery so most do not know. I haven't seen those friends yet, but for the ones that do know...I don't think they notice a difference yet. That's okay I guess..my hubby says that I seem a little smaller because when he hugs me now he can squeeze his arms around me more. - I guess that is a NSV huh? Oh and I did have to be tacky and use a safety pin to hold my pants up in the waist area yesterday...but the pants in question have always been a bit big in the waist. Hips, legs and calf area fit same as usual. I'll keep trucking along and keep working on that thing called "patience."
  10. I discovered that I have been down a little lately. While I have lost 23 pounds since since surgery and 30 pound since end of March......I do NOT feel a difference, nor can I "see" a difference. I am still tired and lack energy, my feet still swell. People that see me don't appear to notice a difference either. I am in the same pant/blouse size...albeit my tops are fitting a bit looser than before. Other than that NADA! ZILCH! wah!wah! wah! I did take my measurements and they have all gone down about 1/2 inch each...but I have always been more "solid" than mushy. Do I need to lose a 100 pounds to get an NSV or for it to be noticeable? So discouraging.... however patience has never been my virtue. Sorry for the pity party, but I wondered if any one else has felt like this?

    Finally Normal BMI

@@sa1976 - that is so cool, I would call that a NSV! I hope to be there one day soon

I Know I'm Not Supposed To Compare...

Put on an old pair of pants that were tight to remind yourself how far YOU have come. Look at some of the NSV that you have had. I am a low-bmi having surgery soon and I'm worried about the same thing. I have a friend who had surgery and lost alot of weight quickly and she will be the person to comment on how slow I am loosing. You are loseing. You've lost alot. You've come a long way. Keep it up. Compare yourself to where you would have been if you did't have the surgery. And...Be sure to remind me of all of this when I'm having the same problem. good luck.
  13. The last time I lost a significant amount of weight on my own was around 1994! I got down to about 240 doing Atkins and exercising everyday for about a year. Of course, it didn't last, but that's the last time I saw the 250's! Well, I broke into the 250's today at 259! About 44 lbs down from my highest and surgery was in August! Not what I should be, but I'm sure not what I used to be! Woohoo!

    Intimacy

Yay for having fun with intimacy finally! I thought that I was going to feel very insecure and uncomfortable, but I'm not. One of my favorite NSVs =)

    Non Scale Victory!

You might need to fill us in with some more detail on why this is an NSV....is it because your clothes are now all small enough to fit into a single load in the dryer? My laundry NSV was my teenage son commenting that I no longer wear the biggest shirts in the family, in fact, he had picked up one of mine because he mistook it for one of his!
  16. As a proud member of the 'Slow Losers', I promised to start a thread of my NSV's. I'm wearing clothes I haven't worn in years. Before my surgery I ordered a pair of custom fit khakis from Land's End (if you haven't tried their custom fit service - it's awesome - but I digress) By the time the pants showed up 6 weeks later, I had gained enough weight that they didn't fit. I, of course, blamed it on bad measurements and threw the pants into the closet, meaning to return them. I was digging in my closet yesterday and came across these same khakis. I tried them on - they fell off! and I mean FELL OFF. I'm going to take them to the tailor today and see if she can fix them. I have bones!! When I lay down flat, I have hip bones! I also have wrist bones and knuckles on my fingers. I'm beginning to see a little clavicle action. and some cheek bones. I had to retire my XL belt from Target. I got an identical one, size large, and I'm down to the 2nd to the last notch. I can cross my legs! (this is probably my favorite) I was at the gym doing some weight work. I picked up the 35 pound dumbell to start - and it hit me - this is how much I've lost. Holy Cow - This thing is HEAVY! I know I have more - and I'll have to think about them and add to this list like Vines does to hers.

    Nsv For Me!

Last night I had errands to run after work, between that and rainstorms, I ran too late to go to the gym. By the time I got home, I was CRANKY. I grumped around the house, put on my workout clothes, decided against the Wii because I would have had to move the sofa with husband attached to it, tried the mini trampoline that made my back hurt, and finally grabbed a dog leash and dog and went for a brisk walk in the drizzle. Did about a 2.5 mile walk around the neighborhood and tried to let my mind clear a little. On the way back up the street, I had an epiphany. I just walked over two miles at a fast pace, and I was not sweating, gasping, limping or being dragged by my dog. It blew my mind a little. In mid-February I had to be wheeled through airports because of my back injury, weight and general bad condition. Oh. My. Freaking. Gosh. Needless to say, my bad mood disappeared instantly. I love Me 2.0, and can't wait to see what the next upgrade will bring!

    August Bandsters Updates....

I was banded 8/25 too and am down 23 lbs, unfortunately I didn't measure before surgery so I don't know inches. I have my first fill tomorrow, and I've just started noticing I can eat alot more than I did last week, so it will be good to have a fill. I feel alot better since the surgery, not as sore and stiff, more energy, asthma is better, and walking more. Down 1 pants and 1 shirt size. One of the big NSV's is my belly isn't putting pressure on my lower ribs, so they aren't sore like they were before. The hard part is the mental, lots of issues that I've buried with eatting -- and they aren't much fun to deal with and resolve. But all in all I am happy with my progress, and while it's not easy. . . the band sure makes the weight loss doable.
  22. Hi August Bandsters... Since it is October I thought we could check-in and see how everyone is doing....weight loss, inches loss, all the NSV's, fills, etc...... I will get us started... First of all, I feel like a new person... that's the best thing since being banded. I have lost 38 pounds since my pre-op diet, 27.5 inches are GONE, my NSV's are so numerous I will just mention a few: taking walks with my daughter, swimming again, clothes to big, walking up the stairs without feeling like I am going to die, bending over without feeling like I am going to puke, getting out of a chair without making ugly, groaning noises.... My first fill was last Monday....it was a breeze...he put in .5cc and I have restriction....yeah!!! So how is everyone else doing???
  23. IT has been 8 years since I was able to shop in the non plus size of any store and today I went shopping for the first time since my sleeve surgery and almost 50 pounds later I can easily put on size 12 jeans in American Eagle! I am soooo grateful for this sleeve and for this forum, the support that is out here is amazing!!! Happy Friday!!
  24. Well, folks, I stepped way WAY out of my comfort zone and treated my body to a massage yesterday. Wow! What a wonderful experience. Poor body image and embarrassment fused with shame had stopped me before surgery. Although I'm only down 30-some pounds, I decided to break with old patterns and give it a try. It was rejuvenating and relaxing. Everything I hoped. I've already booked my next on for mid-September.

    A new Non-Scale Victory!

After years of reading my medical reports and seeing terms and unflattering statements like obesity, morbid obesity, "composed mostly of fatty tissue", and "due to patient's habitus," (which is the medically polite way of saying "can't see sh*t due to too much fat!" I finally had a CT scan this week and the report has the term "dose lowering technique utilized due to patients size." WooHoo...I'm too small for a normal dose of radiation! That's a NSV in my book!
