The brownie one doesn't do it for me either. I 5th the cookie dough bar! Yummmmmy! chocolate chunk is great too. Love s'more and cinnabun too. Don't eat any of them expecting them to taste like candy though, bc candy they are not! chewy, yummy Protein they are! Good luck! On a side note, I honestly wouldn't recommend any other Protein Bars on the market. None that I have found come close to the protein-carb-fat-calorie ratio that Quest bars have. For more calories and less protein, there are plenty of options, but I'm greedy with where I put my calories, and 10-15g protein for 250+ calories isn't good enough for the more "candy bar" like products that atkins has. But, not everyone's NUT worries about calories, so to each his own! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Lap Band removed 11/2015, Sleeved 9/8/16
chevygirl10_24 replied to MonaBr5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same here....Un banded in Dec 15 then sleeved 9-14-16 not even off liquids yet. Extremely nervous that the sleeve won't work at all bc of that stupid band. Lost 80lbs in the first 2 years....banded in 09.....once I had my son in 12 it's like it quit working, kept having to have Fluid removed to be comfortable gained everything right back. I know my worries are just my insecurities....but there will always be that nagging in the back of my brain telling me nothings going to happen. I lost 18 lbs on my 1 wk clear liquid diet and an additional 3 lbs since....go for my 1 week post op appointment mentioned tomorrow....we will see how soon to expect things to happen.....I'm good with it coming off slowly....as long as it's coming off. Good luck on your journey! Keep posting and let us know how it's going! Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App -
I had my lapband back in October 2005 & I've had pain in my port area for a few yrs now & it's manufacturer is Allergan. I've finally read up on some lawsuits for that manufacturer & found some info! My wbc has been high for almost "8" yrs! Feeling bad, low grade fever & major fatigue which comes along with a high wbc bc your body's fighting off an infection but NOBODY can seem to find the source not even an oncologist that I've been to several times!? If anybody has ANY info on this or have shared the same experience please let me know!! Ty! Sent from my SM-G928T using the BariatricPal App

I THOUGHT I was sleeved...
Babbs replied to leebick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@leebick Yeah, this is no time for hemming and hawing. I would DEMAND answers NOW. No, "Oh, well this may be a glitch" and "We will have to do a barium test to determine". This is BS. Like someone said, I would demand the surgery report and any other notes along with your care to get to the bottom of it. This isn't some kind of ooops. This could potentially be life threatening if you don't have the accurate information. I would also throw the word "lawyer" around. It's outrageous, and I'm sorry this has happened to you. But girl, you need to be a b***h about this whole thing and get it straightened out! -
I hope you won't be there very long. Some small packs of peanut butter and beef sticks in your luggage might have fed you a few meals. Good luck getting on of there!

Hi all. I'm 3 years in with the lapband. I've lost about 70 pounds. I wasted about 1.5 years during the process as Kaiser suddenly stopped letting me see the surgeon for any more follow-ups (Kaiser approved my lapband surgery and follow-on visits for about a year but once they got a bariatric Dr, they no longer allowed me to see my original surgeon outside Kaiser). The Kaiser Dr was never there and I always saw a physician assistant who was terrible in doing fills. Anyway, after months of no progress losing, I got fed up and decided to go back to the original surgeon and self-pay and, since then, I'm back in losing mode. I went for a fill in July but felt as though I couldn't swallow saliva and with a plane trip and vacation in the next few days, I sort of went into panic mode that something bad would happen while I was on the trip. So, I went back to the Dr the day after the fill to have a slight unfill. The Dr thought that had I not had a trip coming up, things might settle down in a day or two but seeing as I was going on a trip, he did remove a bit and told me to come back when I returned if I felt I needed more added. That's exactly what I did. So, two months later now and I feel as though I could use a slight fill. So, last Friday I went in and got some fluid added. I weighed exactly the same as I had two months prior. No loss, no gain. Since Friday, I'm getting some fluids down and was able to eat some yogurt yesterday. On occasion this past weekend, I have had to to bring up some fluid (nice way of saying I made myself vomit) because it felt like it was sitting in the pouch and not going down. Saturday I only did fluids, to include water, protein shake, tomato soup. Sunday I added yogurt. I hesitate to run back to get an unfill. But something has started happening that ever hasn't happened before. I go to sleep just fine but find myself waking up a few times a night sort of doing like a belch or something where I can taste something acidic. I go to bed feeling as though nothing is stuck yet it seems overnight, something is going on. Could my own saliva be collecting in the pouch? I have not ever had issues with this band other than trying to get to the right fill level. No issues at all. No heartburn or anything else. Just this nighttime thing is making me concerned. Hopefully, it dies down in the next several days. I want to stick this out and not run back where surely too much would be removed and I'd be in the same boat again. I know this is a rambling post so sorry about that. But, does this weird night thing happen to any of you while you're sleeping? The first night, I did get up and made myself bring it up and it was the tomato soup I'd had earlier that I thought had gone down just fine. It didn't happen Saturday night but last night, same thing happened. I woke myself up with a sort of belch type of thing and had an acidic taste in my mouth. I made myself vomit but there wasn't much of anything that came up. I've just never had an issue while sleeping. Do any of you know what I'm talking about?

anyone using Vyvance (binging med) with Lapband?
Dxx replied to Dxx's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
thanks for responses. my binging is better and at least i'm narrowly maintaining my 100 pound loss, which is my goal. i was mostly just curious about the binging med, but i guess it's off topic in a lapband blog. still, it is a serious psychological issue for some of us. it's probably the SAME psychological issue we had BEFORE lapband. GET HELP OF SOME KIND! for me, because i know it worked, i try to go back to the place in my head where i was just before surgery. maybe when i started liquid only. it was great (almost miraculous) to get thru each day and i questioned at the time the source of the newfound strength. i fed off my own empowerment. i remember being more excited about successfully getting thru each day than the weight loss. not that i wasn't excited about the weight loss, but the years and years of defeat and lack of discipline had taken a serious toll. i had my life back. now, i take a little more time to process all those details from the standpoint of being 100 AWESOME pounds lighter. sometimes it takes a while & a few bags of m&m's sacrifice their lives ... yes, i probably need a fill. sadly, dr is 150 miles away so it turns into a time consuming, all-day thing. i honestly think my binge problem is the bigger issue. if i follow the lapband basics (i hate rules), i still do pretty good as far as restriction, etc. the last fill i got, the dr said my band had 90#s pressure before fill and didn't need. it spit back some of the fill into the syringe, supposedly.. I've probably had 4 or 5 fills. at some point, if i live long enough, i'll ponder what it takes psychologically to make this a lifestyle instead of a diet. maybe then i can tackle the remaining 30 or 40 pounds of my goal. *adjust ... my body is different at 225#'s than 325. even while losing big, i had to eat 4 or 5 times a day or more ... do whatever it takes as long as it works. *if i binge or feel tempted to binge, i don't do anything until i'm at the right place psychologically. then, i go back to liquid only for a day or 2. allow yourself liquids with a few extra carbs - great fruit smoothies, etc. THEN, get strictly back to hellish basics. *exercise, exercise, exercise. *premier Protein drink is great, especially blended with ice. (let sit awhile, then remove foam; otherwise, gas.) btw, I've NEVER eaten only 3 cups of food per day. wth? lol -
OCTOBER GBs where are you?!?!
Ninni replied to jtellechea001's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love vegges if i cant have carbs lol which i cant now so im ok but they dont keep you full for long. Im also ex band mine went in 22/11/2008 and i lost 35kilo about 75lbs but then but some back and found my way around it with saucy stuff and alcohol relaxed it. I had it removed 2 months ago and the day after it was removed realised a hunger that i had not felt for all of those years. So hungry all the time so it was working but i was not working with it obviously. The band stopped me eating fibrous things like salads and i do love salads so i would choose sauce meals which had more calories bc these went down easy. So did ice cream and chocolate.....so gastric bypass just seems like the viable next step. i dont blame the band wholly i take half the blame for it not working well for me -
My 3 week stall is on week 4..../...no loss for 2 weeks...im fed up. I'm getting all my Protein and following the diet to a T, but nothing. It is so frustrating and depressing. I hope we both see some movement soon.

I am having same issues. I am also 18 days out. (Had surgery on August 30th). I have been scared I'm "eating too much" at 700 ish calories a day. I think it's all just part of the process?!? I hope so, bc if not, I'm seriously questioning why I did this to myself. I read that the weight loss is more like stairs than a slope. That makes sense to me. I am 18 days out. I had same experience. I was disappointed and worried as heck bc NOT feeling full was never covered in any of the pre surgical classes, of which there were plenty! Today I felt it at lunch. Finally! I thought I stopped in time, but ended up throwing up right after eating. You'll get there after nerves heal. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

I have been reading a lot of these post about paying out of pocket or co pays. Why is anyone paying out of pocket of the insurance covers the cost. I would go nuts if I had to pay anything additional to what my co pays have been with all these requirements. Does anyone have BC/BS PPO and live in Maryland ? I would love to know if you had to pay anything extra. I'm all types of confused. Please help me understand. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

It's Almost time![emoji16][emoji16][emoji16]
Tanette posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The time is surely approaching to my surgery. I have been wanting this surgery since 2008. However at that time I quit my job where I had good insurance. So once I got better insurance I went for it again. This is now so exciting. I have never been a small size girl or woman. I've always been heavy. Has anyone every had the feeling of what will I look like now since Ive always been big question?!?? I wonder a lot. I look at other peoples success and my mom and my sisters success. I just know I want to be happy and healthy and still sexy . So with that being said I have only one more requirement left and that's to see the Nutritionist on Oct 4th oh and they just threw in that BC/BS is a 7 month requirement visit with weight management so I have to see my doctor on Sept 26 for my final monthly report. They said after that they will submit everything and I will know within a week about the approval and the surgery date. HW: 386 CW: 378 GW: I want to be in the lower 200s no smaller than 175 though. I had Endometrial Ablation done a couple years ago. I can't recommend it enough. I am SO happy I did it. Obviously, this is not something you want to do if you want more kids and unless your hubby has been snipped, you'll still have to use some form of BC. I haven't had a period in over two years, yet all my reproductive organs are intact as well as my hormones. Did I mention NO PERIODS whatsoever?? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

So, I lost my job today. I'm already self pay, so insurance isn't the issue but the problem is that my surgery date isn't even set yet. I'm still waiting for the cardiologist to quit farting around (I mean approve the surgery). How am I supposed to look for a job and have a major surgery looming ahead of me? I don't know what to do! I'm super morbidly obese. I'm sick half the time and I need the surgery, like yesterday! What am I supposed to tell my potential employers? "Yes! I am willing to work, but you'll have to excuse me from anywhere between 2-8 weeks to recover from MAJOR SURGERY!!!" Yeah, I can see that going over well. I suffer from depression and social anxiety disorder, so it's near impossible to pull off the "I am confident and I have a great skill set" bs when I'm feeling the exact opposite. I'd rather crawl in a small, dark hole and stay there.

As silly as it may sound, I have done the following to keep the drama to a minimum. Accepted food on my plate to make people happy and then slid it to the trash or napkins when they weren't looking, pretended being the day after a stomach virus, started a new diet (told them that), fed the dog under the table ... all kinds of things. Eventually they'll get used to me eating like a thin person - for now it's only difficult because I'm in the puréed stage. I only told my family I live with. No one else knows. My mother is coming to town in a couple months and I'll decide then if I'm going to tell her. She will take if fine, it's more the money I spent to get it done with her. She's 5'10" and 145 pounds. So fat is something she's never really had to deal with (she's 75). Do what works for you for what stage your in and what you feel comfortable with. Everyone has their own way, and understands the personalities of the people they're dealing with best. Take it a day at a time, a person at a time, and one day you'll just be their thin relative/friend that eats like all the rest if he thin people! You got this! Question on daily fat goals
Bufflehead replied to Leather'nLace's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just try to eat mostly healthy fats -- olive oil, grass fed butter, fatty fish, tree nuts, avocados -- avoid trans fats, and then beyond that don't pay attention to amount of fat, kind of fat, etc. I figure as long as I stay within my calorie goals and get enough protein, my fat intake will stay at a reasonable level. For cardiovascular health, avoid sugar, engage in moderate to strenuous exercise regularly, and stay away from trans fats. My cholesterol numbers have always been excellent, my triglycerides (most important IMO) are "amazing" as per my nurse practitioner, and other numbers are good too. Honestly I think it's an area where you can set more big picture goals than micronutrient goals and everything will work out well. Good luck! -
