  1. I typically do not toot the horn but today I received 2 very nice compliments. 1. A lady that I work with that I dont interact with on a regular basis stopped me in the hall to say that she had to do a double take because of how much weight Ive lost. She almost didnt recognize me. That was pretty cool. 2. The other was the woman that works at a gas station I frequent said "OMG youve lost a TON of weight". I told her it was 62 pounds and still going strong. She high fived me and told me "you go girl". She said it was a dramatic difference in my face. I took everything she said as a compliment but had she said it at the wrong time of the month if you get my drift, I might have gotten offended lol. Ive had other minor VSGs but 2 on a payday Friday? Woot woot!! Ill post pictures soon but part of me is still afraid of the camera Have a great weekend everyone.

    HUGE NSV for me!!

Well I just did 10 minutes of straight jogging on the treadmill for the first time ever!! I aimed for 5 minutes and kept pushing it 1 more minute and then I said just do 10 minutes and I did it!! I feel AMAZING right now!!!!
  4. I hope you feel better. Sometimes gas rises up to your chest and will cause major discomformt .. i know this for a fact because my cousin had the exact same symptoms .. so yes it is normal and it will go away. I strongly recommend you walk longer and more frequently to help with this pain. You are still only 3 days out and everyone deals with the outcome of the surgery differently. Never eat and drink at the same time because it will cause you severe discomfort. Don't worry all the pain will go away and you will be having NSV's which will make you glad you've done the surgery Good luck !

Living The Nsv's At The Moment

Congrats to you! I relate to your NSVs. A glamour shot? That is a huge NSV. I hope you post it here when you do it. I let my friend take a photo of me today. It was scary, but it felt so good to not be afraid. Celebrate every moment of your new life!

    Fast Food...

My only set back is Starbucks. It is difficult for me to get fast food down. Congrats on a great NSV.
  7. Coming up to 8 months post op and life feels better than I remember it being. This week has been a week for NSV's : * completed my first fun run, 8 kms in just on 1 hour * I fit into a size of jeans that I have not worn since I was 14 * feeling great and positive about the direction and the people in my life * am even planing a glamour shoot to show how far I have come. Even the scale is co-operating a bit.
  8. Now THAT is a great NSV! Congratulations, I remembe the first time I had to wear a belt, it felt amazing and awe inspiring

    Bathtub NSV

I normally don't take baths because my hips touch both sides and the water from my hips to head gets cold unless I pull my body out of the water now & then. Anyway, I poured a bath for my little one not knowing she was already clean, so I got in instead. Guess what? There was a good 3-4 inches between each hip and the sides. I could see over half a foot of space with my body against one side. Needless to say, I stayed in the bath until we ran out of hot water. Holla!

    Yay for me!

Well, so I do a bit of acting on the side (just for fun, nothing big). I got a call to do a bit part in a Spanish-language tele-novela (or soap opera). How cool! It's not a big deal (basically a cool background role, LOL ) but I've with the difficulties I've suffered lately (death in immediate family) this was a nice change from the routine. I show up 'on the set' and they whisk me off to the Makeup Chair. I sat there feeling like they were sizing me up even though they saw my picture and were given a card with my height and stats. (In my mind, I imagined they were saying "Oooh, she's a big one, isn't she?" ) My fellow actress in this scene is a very pretty, fresh-faced, 18-year-old blonde who is 5'2" and a size 4. She's really nice. (The other two lead actresses are the stars of the show - they are both tanned, gorgeous, Size 2's.) Off we go to the Wardrobe Trailer... and there the Wardrobe Supervisor shows us our costumes for the scene. They are identical 2-piece white cotton outfits (V-neck Top and Pants) and both are size Medium. Um... a medium? So the other actress puts hers on first. It's so baggy on her petite frame :rolleyes they tell her to 'roll it up' a bit. Then, I go to change. I stare at the outfit with dread - I haven't worn a medium since I was too young to spell 'medium'. :phanvan I am sure they are going to kick me off the set when they realize I can't wear the costumes they provided. (And yes, this does happen.) Anyway, I slip on the top - its not baggy, but it fits alright. So far, so good. Next, I try the tiny-looking pants. I wiggle into them - and they go on. They're a teensy bit short (I'm a tall gal with lonnnggg legs) but I could actually get into them. I can't believe it ! :faint: I keep checking the tags, thinking - are these a Mens' medium, LOL? But they aren't. Luckily the pants did have elastic in the back waist so that helped. I changed from my higher heels to flat shoes, so the pants didn't look so short on me. The Wardrobe Supervisor looks us over closely, then declares the outfits look perfect. I barely remember anything that happened during the production because I was so happy. The scene went fine, but the greatest thing was I wore a medium top and pants and lived to tell about it. Sounds crazy, but it's a Non-Scale Victory (or NSV) that I'll remember for a while. Yay for me!:clap2:

  15. I had my surgery on March 8th. I am down a little over 70 pounds which is actually not really hitting me yet. Here is what I have jumped for joy over. My scale will never hit the dreaded 300 mark again. It will also not hit 250. I have not been under 250 since my early 20's Bigger victories? I am no longer on ANY medication. supplements are the only thing I NEED. No more arthritis pain. NONE...EVER No more CPAP machine....and my kids are not afraid I am going to die in my sleep! No more antacids. No more blood pressure meds NONE!!! All erased from my life. YAY! Silly things to many that make me smile I ran 2 miles...and lived to tell about it...I did not even FEEL like I was going to die. My dog LOVES her 3 walks a day! (she has dropped a few pounds herself I am saving a TON of money...just the amount I was spending on soda and Snacks for my home was ridiculous! My kids are eating a better diet...hopefully they will not get my "fat" gene! and the #1 Victory Today my 1st pretty bra and pantie set was delivered and I can wear it proudly COMFORTABLY I have not had a pretty bra since I was 13 YEARS OLD !!!!! I feel FANTASTIC!

Not exactly an NSV, but still pretty cool

That is a great NSV whipple. Made me smile. We got the giant 5 gallon water bottles which are heavy too and they always remind me how much I have lost when I have to carry it in. Your doing great! Teresa

    Nsv

what does nsv mean Sent from my SPH-D700 using VST
  19. I dont recognize myself and then i see all the wrinkles. my skin is falling off. so far this is an nsv for me, i am nearly 60 and have no illusions left. I see it as a badge of success. the only one that even comes close to bothering me is the belly. I shall see what it looks like when (if?) i get to goal and maintain it for a while. It would be interesting to get it removed at that time but from what i can tell the panniculectomy seems to be a far tougher surgery than the sleeve and i did not have the easiest time with that one.

    It's The Little Things.....

I thought the same thing when I originally quoted your post. Let's keep it going {down.down, down} and share our next few week accomplishments or as they say here, NSV's.
  22. I'm two weeks out from surgery today and I have lost 18lbs since surgery, 43 since the start of my preop liquid diet. I am pretty large so you can't tell much, but today I bit the bullet and joined a gym. I realized that this journey is for me and I'm going to make the most of my tool. I didn't care about what others might have thought about me or that I was sweating my butt off just walking on the treadmill, it was just about me pushing myself to be better. I'd say that is a great victory for me!
  23. I went out with some friends for Girls Night out on Friday. I knew I was going to have fun and get some much needed ME time. Well, the night started off great when I tried on a pair of size 16 jeans, buttoned, zipped, and they fit!!! In January I was wearing size 26. So while driving to town, I was thinking that it was a great night already and not thinking it could get any better. Well, while waiting on the rest of the girls to show up, a couple of us stood outside talking when one of the girls walked up and said "Susan, I didn't recognize you." It was a great feeling. Can't wait til the next GNO in October. I know some on here have had friends who have not been supportive, but I have been so blessed.
  24. Ok ..so I went to a store for the first time..not just digging through my closet and yes..I am finally down one pant size. Now that may no seem like much BUT I haven't seen this size for 11 years much less even squeezed myself into it! They slipped right now and zipped effortlessly with room to spare! (sorry gentlemen..this next part you can disregard!) I also had a change in bra size ..when down a full 2 inches and went up a cup size! LoL ..maybe things just shifted in that aspect! But still who ever heard of going up a cup size wild!!! I am proud of me and my sleeve! I am on a journey and I hope it continues to go well! 9 w and 5 d out and down 49# and I guess that is good!
