Yes - I've had both. I occasionally eat a pickle spear with my tuna or as a snack at the movie theater when my husband is devouring popcorn. I had a couple of green olives on Thanksgiving. Both are approved by my NUT and surgeon, but I don't eat them regularly bc they have no nutritional value and are high in sodium. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Ladies only - IUD or Implant?
Corrie2016 replied to rolosmom7's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had mirena inserted mid Oct and I got it taken out last week. It couldn't wait until it was removed. I had the worst experience with it and the pain. Oh god the pain. Turns out my body was physically rejecting it. I have issues with BC and have tried and tried may. I have PCOS and reverse endometriosis. I need a "concrete" diet plan to follow please! I'm in 2nd NUT class, so a few months to go, but I need help to start losing now.
Bufflehead replied to Robyn1953's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know if this will be concrete enough for you, but here is the plan I had for my pre-op program (not the official pre-surgery diet but for before that, on my nutritional program). I still use a modified version of it when I need to drop into weight loss mode again. Unlimited: lean, unprocessed protein (fish, white meat chicken & turkey, lean cuts of beef, etc.); green veggies (asparagus, broccoli, brussels sprouts, leafy greens, cauliflower, artichokes, green beans), black coffee, tea, water; herbs and spices, healthy fats (olive oil, grass-fed butter etc. but in moderate quantities -- "unlimited" doesn't mean to go eat a stick of butter!).. One serving of each daily: whole grains, fresh fruit, nonfat dairy. 1 time per week (each): sweet potato, nuts (small serving only), beans/legumes; eggs Banned: everything else, including starchy veggies, sweets, artificial sweeteners, highly processed food such as jello or pudding or chips. Weigh/measure all portions and log everything in MyFitnessPal. Stay under 1500 calories per day. Carbs, protein, etc. will take care of themselves on this eating plan. Sample menu: Breakfast: steel-cut oatmeal w/ cinnamon Morning snack: 1 c. nonfat yogurt Lunch: Chicken breast & asparagus salad w/ olive oil & vinaigrette Afternoon snack: apple Dinner: Grilled salmon, baked avocado slices, pan-wilted garlic spinach After dinner snack: 1 oz. hickory almonds Good luck! -

I love both MFP and Baritastic. Baritastic has a ton of features, and doesn't make you pay to see what macros you've eaten like MFP app. That said, I use MFP still bc it has a bigger food library. Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App

I've had the same pain too, mainly on my right side. And the surgeon told me that's where they pulled out the remaining part of my tummy. It takes the longest to heal bc the incision is larger than the rest of the other holes...best wishes for your recovery! Sent from my SM-G530T using the BariatricPal App

I hate that I had this surgery
facebro29 replied to HisMrsWright's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I completely understand you. I've had problems myself. I'm dry heaving since week 5 been back and forwards to surgeon. He's doing a swallow test next week. I HATE eating. Completely hate it. Nothing feels good going down. I can't eat much I'm just tired of trying to make myself eat or drink. I'm on different types of meds now. One for gas and others for anti nausea to help with dry heaving, these meds make me sleepy. I'm fed up. I've lost 50lbs but can't get any happiness from it because I feel crap. I hope you get the help you need Hun. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I am in the Uk and now 4 weeks today and have been having same problems. I can eat yogurt baby bell cheese Protein shakes etc but been sick when I tried soft food. I am hoping it is just a phase and maybe taking a bit slower but just so fed up with soup or sweet stuff. Just of out to a big thanksgiving dinner as one of my mummy friends is American. I am taking some broth as don't want to be sick in public. I have met up for coffee today with a lady from this site and it was lovely to chat face to face. So I am four days postop. I feel great. I'm walking around I'm basically doing everything on my own around my house taking care of my kids. But I am really struggling to be able to get all my fluids and all my Protein and I don't feel dehydrated or anything like that I just can't seem to get it all in. The Water alone fills me up and makes me feel full. I love the feeling not being hungry though. Of course I haven't lost weight yet bc I'm swollen still instead I gained weight from all the fluids and being swollen which is to be expected Had my first bowel movement yesterday it was so wonderful. (Sad I know lol) I know my NUT said to just try my best to get in what I can!!! But like I said I feel great have slept in my bed since the day I came home. Was discharged the next day after surgery bc I did so well. Trying my best to get in what I can I don't wanna end up having to go to the hydration clinic. Anybody else experiencing the same issue post rny? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I have been reporting them diligently, every day. I find at least 5-6 SPAMs per day. I actually gave First Prize to one today (in my report), it had most amazing nonsensical and truly laughable pseudo English. I also noticed there is one plugging "Legendary Beard"! Today was the second Spam, nickname changed, but the same "Legendary Beard" BS! I think this person needs to go to a barber! Anyway, I hope most of us report this nonsense, soonest we see it. It is easy and quick. I mainly write "SPAM" in the Report button, and send it off. They seem to appear early morning for you, Americans. I spot them in my time zone at early/late afternoon. We truly need the new rule of banning Newbie first posts with a link provided. Anyway, my rant over for now, have to finally go to bed! I tagged Alex before, maybe you can do it too, @@James Marusek. Nite, nite for me.

I hate that I had this surgery
losingit60 replied to HisMrsWright's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm so sorry that you're feeling so bad! I've read that sometimes our hormones change right after surgery bc it's so stressful-those hormones can make you feel down and sad. Please don't over eat, that could be dangerous to your new staple line and cause a leak. I've also read that some nurses say that you will not be able to get all of your food in the first few weeks after surgery bc of the swelling in your stomach-maybe try to make sure you just get your Fluid in right now and be easy on yourself. Sounds like you need to take care of you right now!! Feeling sick is horrible but it will pass and get better. Take one hour at a time, you can make it and when you do ,you'll be so happy that you made it:) -
Does having a baby ruin your sleeve and weight loss?
gettingtothenewme replied to Comfy_Blue's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I am currently 17 months post-op. 37 years old. I am at the maintaining level and happy with weight. I had 2 pregnancies prior to surgery (many years apart). Spouse and I are thinking we would like another. original weight 240- now between 138-144. Water weight sucks. I am off the BC because of side affects. Any one have any input on side affects of losing weight after? -
Getting sleeved this afternoon. Suddenly super scared. Have been waiting to do this for over a year. Any advice? Will keep you posted on how everything goes. Husband and best friend are very supportive but haven't told my kids or anyone else because don't want my daughters to think this is an easy way out. I want them to believe in exercise and diet. And I really don't want anyone who doesn't know how it feels to be overweight and suffering with being overweight to give me BS advice. I love doing sports and have always been active. But after fourth kid can't seem to lose more than 5 kilos and keep regaining them. My husband and kids have always been a priority. Doing this step for ME. I read and watched so many horror stories of the pain people are in after surgery and the problems that people have. I'm so thankful and feel so blessed I had my surgery at 8 am this morning I was so afraid of the pain I was in store for. But I feel amazing!!!! Very little pain very little gas. I have taken now a total of 7 walks. The first one right off the stretcher comming to my room from recovery lol they said you ready to scoot into the bed I said no I'm ready to walk lol. The dr said my liver was great and he could tell I did well with the pre op diet. I said and the worst part was I didn't realize till the seventh day that I was allowed to have creamed Soups lol so I did all liquids until then. Duhhhhh. He laughed. The nurses said they are amazed that they have never seen a patient do this well directly afterwards. Honestly I just feel like I did a few hundred sit ups. So for those of you who are worried. Don't be so worried. I spent way to much time fearing the worst instead of expecting the best. I was supposed to be here till Thursday but was told by the dr this evening that if I'm doing this well still tomorrow they are going to let me go home which is absolutely wonderful. Considering I haven't slept since I woke up in recovery bc this bed is not comfortable at all!!!!! And it's very noisy in here!!! And i have never been away from my munchkins on a holiday so hoping everything stays smooth sailing!!! Best wishes to all!!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

No one wants to say yes either bc it's a liability if something happens to you I'd feel bad. I'm 2.5 weeks out and was cleared for thin Soup but when I'm dying for salt I've eaten those tiny oyster crackers. I chew them to a pulp. I can't take my Vitamins with only clears in my stomach- throwing up hurts so bad. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

As others have stated.... it's not the best plan. I couldn't have mashed potatoes until 21 days. And I don't eat potatoes now that I'm on solid food bc most carbs are just too filling. I also haven't tried any pie, but I'd be extra careful with that.

I think they did mine when i was sleep. I guess I'm kind of weird bc I have no problem swallowing I take little sip and breathe through my nose to exhale any extra air and I'm fine. I haven't tried yogurt bc I couldn't stomach it before surgery. But I will try that and see how it work now. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Anyone Low Carbing for Pre-Op Diet?
jpaps20 replied to 81Kellogram's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've always found the South Beach Program easy to follow - no carb/sugar. So for the weeks before the pre-op I followed SB. Then 15 days before was shake for Breakfast & lunch & sensible dinner. I made sure that my dinner fit within the SB guidelines. My surgeon said that was fine bc my post op diet with be low carb/ sugar also ... so SB was good practice Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Feel your pain, so lets vent together! I was sleeved 17th Oct, and the first couple days were awesome but its been a steep downhill from there mood, fatigue, and food-wise. My mood swings are pretty crazy, and Im so lethargic its tough to get up most days. My sense of smell has multiplied exponentially, and I gag at almost every little smell, meaning I am def. not getting in enough food or drink bc I cant be near food. Every diet stage has been tough. Uff!! Had a chat with my nutritionist, and she sounded a bit....judgmental...saying that I should just get more Protein and liquids in, that I wasn't following diet etc. Easier said than done, dearest, especially if you're nauseous at the mere sight of food! Its a tough place to be in especially considering this is supposed to be a positive thing. Seriously, I can't even drink from my own glasses or cups anymore, so I am trying new bottled liquids daily. Sigh.... Husband says it will get easier as time goes by. Heres hoping! I'm sorry you both are having trouble, and it sounds like your nutritionist isn't listening to you, seattlemom. I was given anti-nausea medication when I left the hospital and didn't have to use it. I wonder if something like that would help. Tiredofmyself, I know this is a tough place that you're in, but I say congratulations on the 30 pounds. If you have many different sizes in your closet like I do, that's certainly enough to notice a size or two change. Perhaps that might lift your spirits? Me, I just have trouble getting moving. I am purposely not working right now so that I can get into a routine with exercise....but the cold and rain (you get me on this, seattlemom???) make me want to stay inside and curl up with my cats and watch tv. I suck!!! I do hope you both are doing better soon!!! Jami

Scare and Confused

I'm on purees as well. What are you eating??Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App Protein powder in nonfat milk for breakfast or scrambled egg, tuna pouch with one wasa cracker, turkey meatballs in chicken broth and chard and a few saltines, yogurt, cottage cheese non fat or lie fat by Lucerne with apple sauce, mmmm butter Beans, refried beans or pinto beans with salsa, hummus and Melba toast or wasa, Basically that's what I choose from..I chew tge crackers to pulp and my NUT said it was fine bc I was hungry all if the time before and now I'm not. I eat five mini meals every 2.5-3hours as they told me. Not sure it's working yet... I use fage yogurt with stevia drops and true line or lemon for flavoring it I buy yogurts from trader Joes non fat Greek. Still on popsicles!! What are tge crackers? Where do you buy them? -
Good support groups are hard to come by... during the first one I attended a guy who jus got his sleeve explained to the group that if he wants to eat after he is full he just drinks some Water to wash the food down. His wife, who had the surgery last year "taught" him this and he was nice enough to share with the group. Well...now I know why so many people regain their weight. I called his BS and left before the woman running the group got a chance to ask me too. The NUTS in my surgeons office know it was me when they heard about the incident! I have had group counseling for food addiction and that was very helpful. And I still go to OA (overeaters anonymous) one a week and find that helpful as well.
