It’s a wonderful non scale victory you can really enjoy even though it can be blow your mind. So many more options and a lot of fun to discover your new style and what looks great on your smaller body. Five years out and I still get that buzz at the size of my clothes. Not as often but still a great feeling. Keeps me motivated too.

@Candace4283 I have on hand Ondansetron subliminal that helps so much for nausea? I’m not dealing with that now but so much pain but it’s only 3 days out. I’m trying cream of shrimp soup/milk to thin…blended…little protein powder and bay seasoning and protein drinks mostly. -

Sleeved yesterday. Awful pain at first but pain killers and a hot pack helped a lot. Plus sleep! I’ve just been woken up with a tray of Brekky. Bacon, eggs, toast. Nah just kidding it’s yogurt, protein water, Optifast, milk and some sort of juice (I think) . And been told I can get the cannula out of my arm, which drove me mad all night, when I’ve drunk 1litre. Here we go! -
Should I Consider A Revision?

Like @Catwoma62 said it’s a switch surgery similar to the DS but the bypass portion of it is modified to make it a little less risky. It fairly new but they are starting to find it to be a good alternative to bypass. little as a revision to a sleeve. It’s a little more aggressive than bypass but the research is suggesting that the weight loss as a revision to bypass is not consistently great and with SADI revision it’s a little better. Plus the ability to keep weight off long term is believed to be better with the SADI revision. Not all surgeons do it yet and many will not reduce the size of the sleeve when they do a revision so they will do some tests to look at your sleeve first to make certain that it is still in good shape or it may not be the better option. There are many other factors in terms of which option is best and the surgeon is best to help you decide but it is another option to ask them about. -
I am 51 year old, 5 foot 6 inches and weigh 296. I started at 340. My calorie intake is 800-1000 calories a day set by my surgeon, 30 carbs a day and 64 oz of fluid with 60-80 grams of protein each day.

I'm scheduled for the 10th. I officially start my liver shrinking diet today, though in reality, I started last week. I knew there would be some minor hiccups and I wanted them out of the way so I can be 100% on track with what my dr requests starting today. He has me on a 3 week liver shrink diet as my BMI is over 50. The way he sets it up is: Breakfast - Premier Protein Shake Mid Morning Snack - 1 cup melon or berries (or 1/2 cup other fruits) Lunch - Premier Protein Shake Mid Afternoon Snack - Premier Protein Shake OR 1 of the following: 6 oz light yogurt, 1/2c cottage cheese, 4 oz tuna, 1 string cheese, or 1 oz low fat jerky Dinner - 4-6 oz lean protein + 1 cup raw or 1/2 cup cooked non-starchy vegetables I'm finding that I do well until that mid afternoon snack, then I'm wanting something more substantial. I might be scheduled a week before you, but I'm here if you want to chat at all!

I’d ask her. Just start by telling her you like her leggings and ask if she finds them comfortable because yours are annoying you at the moment. Then ask what brand they are. Most women are happy to share especially after a compliment. I know I am. 😁 You may find a few others join the conversation and you might get a few ideas and style options.

Sorry I have been away and not on the site. I am so glad you are doing better. My advice for what its worth is 6 tiny meals. My team okeyed it. I had protein yogurt for breakfast. A fruit snack later Meat or cheese salad for lunch. Homemade vegetable soup as a snack, mid afternoon Fish and a vegetable for dinner and a snack of cheese and fruit or carrot batons and hummus for a evening snack. This gave me all day eating or so it seemed, a varied healthy diet and no carbs as I couldn't fit them in. I hope you get the help you need. -

It's tough when finding the right exercise routine feels like an uphill battle, especially with all the challenges you've mentioned. Since you enjoyed water aerobics, maybe there's a chance to find a more affordable pool option, like community centers or local schools that sometimes offer off-peak access for non-members. -
Hi all...I am just starting my journey to getting gastric bypass surgery. I met with a Registered Dietician yesterday and she discussed the importance of having several protein shakes every day. Here's my problem....I cannot stomach anything sugar-free. I have such a hard time with aspartame, sucralose, stevia, etc. Any unflavored protein powder suggestions?

Still on fluids for a few more days, counting down til Thursday! Yesterday we went for a two hour drive to see some friends, had lunch out with them, there was pizza, hot chips with gravy, hubby had fish and chips on the table it didn'tworry me at all the others eating their yummy lunches! Luckily they had a clear wanton soup dish, so I had that and hubster got the wontons 😂 Today I made a darker version at home with added protein powder and fibre ☺️ Deeeeeelish!! -

Exactly. If it were the men having to do it they would whine until the standard of care would change. I’m sure that they could easily give you the option to do it at the hospital under twilight anesthesia (especially if you have not given birth and it will be worse), but because most women can “deal with it” and don’t complain they aren’t going to change it. A friend of mine who has had two children just recently had an issue switching hers. The strings were cut too short and they weren’t visible so they had to go digging and searching with hooks. The regular gyno couldn’t get it so she had to go back and see the surgeon who was finally able to remove it but she said THAT was awful because it took so much longer and even when they scheduled for the surgeon knowing that it wasn’t routine anymore they still didn’t have her take anything!! I know that for some people it’s not a big deal but we all know that our bodies are different and our pain threshold’s are as well. There really does need to be more consideration given to these things. I’m glad that you have that visit behind you and hopefully have 8 years until you have to deal with it again. Maybe they will make some changes to the procedure by then. 🤞 -
Hi all, I am almost 8 months post op bypass. I'm down 68 lbs (31 kg) I feel and look fantastic and I'm quite happy but I still need to lose 33-44 lbs and well it's barely coming off these past months. Now my question is I'm eating pretty well and counting calories and protien content. I'm focused on calories mostly but I think that's where the problem is. I should focus on my protien only which means I should eat 115g of protien daily which might mean more calories and it scares me.. I m active and go to the gym too (not as gym rat but not lazy) so what am I doing wrong? Do I need to up my protein? Also how much of the food is actually absorbed? Does bypass really mean ill def lose and maintain the weight? I need reassurance. Help me understand what to do now and if I'm safe

Liver Shrinking & Liquid Diet ideas

Everyone’s liver shrink diet is pretty different. Some have all shakes and others are basically just high protein/ low carb. Did your team give you any paperwork? They usually include a very specific list of foods that you are allowed to eat. Finding a couple of protein shakes you like will be a good start though, those are good for most pre op diets, immediately post surgery and even down the road they are ideal to have on hand for unexpected times. I carry a cooler full of water and at least one protein shake or yogurt drink with me whenever I am out so that if I find myself stuck out and don’t have time or can’t find anything on plan I can just have that. I also have a ziplock with a variety of protein snacks that I bring when I know it will be an unpredictable day. Don’t stock up on too many shakes of the same kind though, your tastes may change a bit after surgery. Especially for sweets stuff. Convenience stores are a good way to try singles of a variety of shakes unless you know someone who will drink the rest of the ones you don’t prefer. One tip if your allowed sugar free popsicles is that the tropical flavors are Amazing. Soooo much better than the traditional flavors I thought. -

My hair was coming out in chunks around 4-6months -I thought I would be lucky but sigh nope!. My hair is coming back thick and I'm 15months post op. Hi - Protein shakes were driving me NUTS. I am at the very end of full liquids and beginning to introduce pureed food. However my purees are on the liquidier side because it is what I can handle. You can add less liquid to this recipe if your tummy can handle thicker stuff. I was so wanting something savory. I've been basically living off premier protein chocolate shakes and broth based soups with flavorless protein added (for awhile this was truly all I could handle otherwise I would feel quite ill) but - now I am trying more things gradually. Note - this serves probably like 6-8 servings? Maybe more? I haven't measured. I just eat a few spoonfuls and don't over-do it. Ingredients 🔸4 hard boiled eggs 🔸1.5 tbsp mayo (I used chosen foods - because it's paleo and doesn't have inflammatory oils - I was paleo before surgery and before pre-op even to help manage my PCOS symptoms) 🔸1 stalk celery chopped 🔸A dash of Himalayan Pink Salt 🔸A dash of Onion Salt (I used Trader Joe's brand) 🔸1/4C Pickle Juice (this is the liquidy element that helped me) Directions 🔹 Throw everything into the blender and blend until completely smooth. 🔹 Store and refrigerate. I tend to eat 2 oz servings at a time. Additional notes - you can probably add more seasoning to this if you're able to tolerate. Since I am so early on I wanted to keep it very simple and easy to digest. I loved loved loved this meal. Hope yours turn out great 👍

Yes - I have that. Or at least that is what my physician thought after I had occasional symptoms like that and they couldn't find anything else wrong with me (had the workup about four years ago). She said to eat something about every three hours - preferably a protein or something paired with a protein. It works - I rarely have those symptoms any more. P.S. any kind of protein is fine - even a thing of yogurt. -

That doesn't sound like enough food, or a very healthy choice, to be honest. Crispy chicken is fried. Sweet tea is nutritionally the same as soda and can provide a shocking number of empty calories. You aren't getting enough protein and if you're only eating once a day, that's probably messing up your metabolism. Just based on what my dietician has told me, I suggest three meals per day, a minimum of 60g protein per day, 64 oz water, and little to no sugar or simple carbs. You might try cottage cheese with fresh berries for breakfast, a spinach salad with 3oz grilled chicken for lunch, and 3oz baked salmon with steamed broccoli for dinner. Maybe add in a serving of raw almonds for a snack. Make sure you weigh all your portions. -

Well said. I would just add that a good source on you tube is Dr Matthew Weiner. He explains the surgeries, pros/ cons and risks very well. This will help you prepare for your first visit. Like @Justarwaxx suggested, though, try not to stress too much because your surgeon will help you make the right decision. My Dr said that there were two good options for my revision and it was up to me. He sent me home to do my research and follow up with questions at the next visit. He didn’t rush me to make my decision though, you most likely won’t have to decide at that first visit but make a list of questions and if you feel confused don’t be afraid to ask for clarification. It is a lot to take in and they understand that. You can also post questions in the Pre-Op area on this site. Lots of really good people on here will try to help you by sharing their experiences to guide you every step of the way. Best of luck ❤️ -

5 shakes per day? Never! I think max I ever had was 2 or maybe 3 in a day. I drink premier protein, so 30g protein each. I think at 5 a day (so 150g protein) is even more protein than most body builders need. I’m 5 years out now. Still drink 1/day for breakfast and am able to hit my 90g daily protein goal easily with food. -
Glad to hear @~Niecy~ ! Pretty much on the same boat, recovering at home now and sipping water, clear protein, broth all day. I feel great, just a bit of gas pain still but feel almost instant relief when I walk and still supeerrr tired. Been taking the best naps ever lool.

Hair loss is almost inevitable with significant weight loss due to a number of reasons such as lower protein intake and lower levels of certain micronutrients such as Iron, niacin, etc. Stress and hormone changes are also leading causes of excess hair loss during weight loss. This is true regardless of how you lost weight, thus it's not unique to Zepound or any other GLP-1 drug. The good news is that it typically will come back once you go off the diet. -
