Going for my consultation next week! They told me I have to see a nutritionist for 6 months before I can have surgery. This is frustrating because I have been this way for so long. I wish they would bump it up to 3 months. Does anyone know if insurance companies will ever do this?

Ive been looking at your pics and reading your posts. Have you had the surgery yet? When are you scheduled? What's your starting weight? I'm 3 1/2 weeks away and counting..... 293.6 this morning. Can't wait to get pictures up here!

Hi Tracy, I used to live in the DC area. I've been banded for 10 weeks now. I"ve had one fill and will have another fill this week. Hopefully this one will give me more restriction, I'm able to eat too much right now thus slowing down my weight loss. Let me know when you're banded

I am doing pretty good. I lost under a pound this week, but I've eaten out 1 meal a day all week. That pulls you down when it comes to loosing weight. At least I made semi healthy choices. I say semi cuz I am eating a cookie as I type this. When does the Doc check your band next?

Thanks for the comment. First fill yesterday....soft foods today.....dont really feel much restriction yet. He put in 4cc in my large band. Not sure how much my band holds. Dr. said Id be in there every 2 to 3 weeks for fills instead of every month which Im really glad about hopefully get to my sweet spot sooner. Good news is lost another 9 lbs since my last appt. For a total of 21 lbs down since wt before preop diet. 21 lbs down since first of August. Im pleased. Love your blogs!!

Hello! Sad to say I'm not really exercising. I started taking swimming lessons this week and have made sad attempts w/ the elliptical machine I have at home. Hmmm, I can tell you what a typical day of eating is like.
8:00a - protein shake w/ 8oz skim milk
10:00a - I have either cream of wheat or a boiled egg w/a slice of wheat toast
12:00p - lunch: today I had a crab cake and 1/4 cup of boiled potatoes w/onions and a large apple
It's 3:00p now, I really don't have an appetite but will have 2 rice cakes
Then at 7:00 I have dinner - I always cook, so tonight it will be a chicken stir fry w/a little white rice.
Most evenings before bed I have an Isopure drink (blue raspberry is my current favorite) or a protein shake.

hi ya! Dr.s visit went just fine. The PA said that it was just a seroma(a fluid filled pocket) at the inscision- no infection!!!!! So relieved!!! That turkey chili sounds really good.....I think I have to wait another week for that, but i will remember it. I got out this morning and got my hair done- feels great....also had a facial yesterday....I figure i need to pamper myself somewhat. Have a great day.

ok...that's good to know. I LOVE new york and company...I was just in there today for lunch they are having an awesome sale! I bought all 12's and medium shirts but I should have gotten some 10's too becuase I know they will be fitting perfectly in a couple of weeks. I'm still like a 13-15 in those junior sizes so I wouldnt dare go in forever 21 or wet seal yet...lol. I felt funny going into Express but I can fit a large in there. I thought that once i hit "normal sizes" it would be the same across the board but I guess its just like the plus sizes. I used to be able to fit a 3x anywhere but sometimes it varied. Targets stuff runs big...especially that Mossimo line. my size 12 target jeans are too big too. this can be so frustrating!

Hi Special K, I am new to the forum. I see you had a lap band meeting last week at Polaris. I am interested to attending a group like that and was wondering if you are meeting again in November? I'd love to chat with others who are have had the surgery or going through the process. I am pre-surgery through OSU and hopefully will be banded in early spring. Thanks so much for the info!

Thanks, I am about 80lbs. now so I am still loosing. I would like to hit the 100lbs. mark by the one year mark. I did hit a plateau and it lasted for a couple of weeks then I started loosing again. If that happens don't worry. I've probably should exercise more than I do but I am working on that and getting better at it. I have also started working out to tone up my body, which I hope really works... haha. So can I ask how much you have lost? When where you banded? I can't take all the credit for loosing the weight.. The band helped me so much!

Hey bobbie! Just checkin on you girl! I now have 5 cc in my Realize band. I think I might have finally broken through my stall. Last week I was at 235 and today when I weighed I was at 230! I have better restriction and stay full most of the time for at least 3 to 4 hours. But I still think I could be a little tighter. I am giong to give it another couple of weeks though. So, I am at a total loss since surgery day of 18 pounds. I sure hope it continues!
) How you doing? Hugs!!

Hey Mechelle! Thanks for the comments! I was thinking of you last night...DH made homemade mashed potatoes and I overate a little just because they were sooo good (I still love good food)...yep it's a slider, but I ate the meatloaf first so I was full all night!
I've never had a fill get tighter (they've only loosened over time for me), but I know many here say they get that, even weeks later. If it's not better soon, you're doing the right thing. Many say even a tiny unfill (.5 or .1cc) can make all the difference (food shouldn't hurt).
I have found that I have to retrain myself how to eat after each fill. You get used to things going down with what you've been doing and then with more restriction you need to make even more changes (the hardest one for me is slowing down...doesn't seem like you'd have to if you're chewing it to death, but you do).

Hi, just checking to see if you have gotten over that plateu yet. I am still at a stand still. No loss, no gain either. it's frustrating. At the support meeting, I was told that I am where I am suppose to be after being banded only 8 weeks (at that time) it will be 10 weeks tomorrow hmmm. I just have to be patient. Have you experienced any other problems since banding? let me know how its going.

Cheri,
I went out to dinner with family and friends and indulged in some nachos. Nothing spicy. I have had pain since Friday. I go to the doctor tomorrow, but I have been worried. You are doing great at 31. You are very steady. I tend to lose a bit and then nothing for a couple of weeks....would much prefer the steady. Hope all is well with you and family. I am free the next 2 Sunday afternoons. I will let you know when the Houston Area Bandsters will have their next meeting for our area. Talk to ya soon.

Hi padanelle,
thanks for replying; I did something crazy tonight, I am now craving sweets, after six weeks, I ate about 1/3 of a brownie; seems like my had habits are returning; I have lost about 26 and a half pounds, I have reached a plateau but I think that I am becoming impatient; I am going to talk with my dr. this week about getting another fill. I cant do this if I feel hungry, some advice.
