  3. B-Protein Shake S-Yogurt & Laughing Cow Cheese L- Chicken Breast with FF Italian dressing and Green beans D- ?? not sure yet since I'm going out to dinner for a friends bday
  4. Have you tried them?. I am on puréed foods and have started using this in my chicken salad instead of mayo. 25 calories, 1g fat, 2g carbs, 2g protein. I like the taste and I'm trying to squeeze in protein wherever I can.
  5. I'm about 7 weeks out. I tried tuna and put in low fat mayo, small amt of dill pickle relish and tiny chopped onions. Threw it right up and even saw small amounts of blood. I'm sure the mayo and pickles hate me right now... I also can't drink Protein shakes. Not premade or a high quality powder. Tried $300 worth of different ones. HATE THEM ALL. can't even swallow them. It's too bad I hate yogurt and fresh fish too. Ugh. I'm a mess Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using the BariatricPal App

Half a cup plain greek yogurt half a thinly sliced banana. Finely chopped strawberries (2) One scoop vanilla protein powder. 1 Tablespoon natural peanut butter A few raspberries Topped with a natural granola. You can also use chocolate protein powder. It tastes a lot like cheesecake meets mousse. SO SO good for those days were swallowing isn't a b***h

    Need help

You don't say whether or not you're hungry. That's the sign of needing a fill...or possibly just not eating what your body needs. A few ideas though... Your meal should allow you to be hunger free for about 4 hours. If it doesn't, perhaps a small protein snack mid-meal would help (an ounce of cheese, hardboiled egg, etc.) . Yogurt or Protein Drink is fine for Breakfast if it gets you through the morning. lunch and dinner, according to my surgeon, should be 3 oz of protein, 1/2 cup of vegies and 1/4 cup of starch (maybe and only if I'm still hungry). Record everything you put into your mouth in something like fitday.com. You'd be surprised how fast the calories add up with cheese and Soups. Once you know for sure how many calories you're eating, then you'll be better able to figure out why your weight loss has slowed. Don't expect major losses. One person I know only lost 3/4 of a lb per week. I only lose 1 lb per week and that's only if I stick to a 1200 calorie diet. Have enough days at 1600 calories and I don't lose anything. A lot will depend on your own metabolism. Some people see a faster weight loss when they exercise. That hasn't been my experience, although I do feel better. .
  8. During the week I usually eat yogurt or 100 calorie oatmeal for breakfast, a protien shake is the first thing I have every morning. Lunch consists of 45 calorie bread (1 pc) and 3-4 oz of shaved deli meat. For dinner I usually have a pc of fish and later I snack on beef jerky. Some days I eat a protein bar before I head off to the gym. This could be my so called "stall". I am happy with the results but wish I could lose 2-3 pounds weekly.

    How tight is too tight?

I got a fill, so totally 3.5ccs in a 10cc band. That was 6 days ago. I'm still drinking liquids soups and yogurts, because I got stuck a few days ago and I dont want to do it again. I had some iced tea and I guess I drank it too fast, because it wouldnt go down and I had to spit it up. I wonder if its not really vomiting, since I'm not gagging?? it really is like spitting. I hope in a few days the tightness will go down a little. I dont really want to have any removed because it is a good fill for me, ie I know I will feel restriction once its relaxed a little, and I dont want to go for an unfil just to have to go back a week later. Stick with it for a few more days with me and we'll see!!

    Ice cream

I really hate Greek yogurt, can I use a couple teaspoons of white sugar to help it taste better???
  11. I seriously don't think I can make it another 11 days on this liquid diet. After the first 7 days, I was so hungry I begged my doctor to move me up to soups and yogurt. That worked for a few days but now, I'm tired of the soups and yogurt also and ready for something more substantial. How did you guys get through the 3 weeks on the liquid diet? Any tips, tricks, ideas? I'm basically eating only 400-500 calories a day. I'm lethargic and starved all the time and my doctor wants me on liquids for 3 weeks before moving to the pureed foods. This seems a little extreme. I welcome any thoughts. Thanks.

    OOOPPSS! Slipped up

Here are a couple of days... My goal is to eat around 900 calories and at least 80 grams of Protein. Nothing is really "off limits" except for trigger foods (Wheat thins, etc.) I have a little fridge under my desk at work and keep Atkins Protein shakes and Greek yogurt available. Plus I like Luna Protein Bars and Quest brownie protein bars. (The Quest ones are AWESOME after you microwave them for 10 seconds.)

    Gerber

someone mentioned I should buy mt self chickens cultry set like the gerber brand to help take smaller boys had anyone done this I think this should read: Someone mentioned I should buy myself children's cutlery set like the Gerber brand to help take smaller bites. Has anyone done this? Yes. I have also heard of this and plan to do so. I found one of my kids baby spoons in the drawer and have been using that to eat yogurt in prep for surgery. Will be getting baby cutlery in the next few weeks.
  14. What I want to know is who doesn't struggle with Snacks after dinner? It's sure not me. One thing I have done is move back dinner time a bit so there is less time between dinner time and bedtime. And I also do as others have mentioned: Keep the crap out of the house, have some healthy snacking alternatives, find something else to do to occupy myself. Most of the time, the combination of those things works well. Also, I make sure to eat enough earlier in the day that I am not truly hungry. I do have a snack every night after dinner ,but I try to make it a healthy one that is filling. Last night I had 1 graham cracker and 1/2 cup greek yogurt mixed with a small peach and some Splenda. Yum! ( I am at goal. I didn't start eat many graham crackers till I got to goal.) Lynda Lynda
  15. Here are some of the items I've had in similar situations: Cottage cheese (you can get small containers), greek yogurt, string cheese, beef jerky, cold meats like ground turkey, deli meat, chicken, etc, soups (put can in sink with hot water before opening it to heat it a little). Not a ton of variety, but maybe eough to get through. For extra storage you could bring a cooler an keep it full of Ice from the ice Machine.

    Omg Starving.......help!!!

I am sorry that you are having troubles. Are you allowed to eat non fat greek yogurt or cottage cheese? My Dad is also a diabetic and has trouble keeping his blood sugar up while sleeping. His solution is to eat 3/4 cup of cottage cheese with fruit or some other topping right before he goes to bed. As for broths- have you tried straining broth based soups? You can get all the flavor of the soup without the solids. I really like low fat broth based tortilla soup. Num Num.
  17. Gotcha.... so initially the first 48 hours was clear liquid Proteins only, then for the first two weeks was liquids. Then soft foods... but in my docs soft foods... it includes fish and meat and eggs cooked properly. cheese... yogurt. From week 4-8 is semi soft foods but it's actually pretty much the same diet as the soft foods. I was told I pretty much couldn't do anything other than walking but then I feel that because I am self pay I got very little guidance on that part and they don't really care to elaborate nor respond after they've been paid. Omg!!! No more soup!!!

I am eating pudding, yogurt, milk, jello and popsicles, but I want something fulfilling. The soup is just not cutting it. I feel like I'm hungry in an hour, and I have to hold off, because I feel like I am hungry too soon. I just don't like that hungry feeling.

    Pre-Op, your experience

I had to do 14 days of liquid diet. I got to drink one Slim fast and 5 cans of Ensure each day with two Dannon lite yogurts. I paced it like one item every two hours and that keep the hunger pains away. I started dropping weight right away and lost 20 pounds oin the pre-op diet. SO that helped me along. Plus I got to really like the Ensures and now can't wait to get to senior citizen statis so I can have them again..lol Was on liquid diet for 4 weeks after surgery but got to add things to it and I did this whole liquid diet without cheating once and it went a long way in helping me adjust to new habits. Good luck with your surgery and keep us posted

    Starting Pre-op diet

Hi, I had to do a milk and yogurt diet for 10 days prior to my band op and again for my revision. I found that the best way for me to cope with it was to have a complete blow-out the night before of my favourite takeaway and then I was sorted and my head was in the right place to get on with the pre-op! I had milk for Breakfast, milk for lunch and milk for tea. I didn't have much yogurt as I can't stand the taste or consistency but I did have the odd oxo cube to satisfy my cravings for savoury. I heated the milk up, whisked it like mad and had it with coffee as a Cappuccino, I drank whenever I felt hungry or had a craving, I let my family prepare their own meals and went upstairs whilst they ate and did everything I could to keep occupied and not thinking about food. I was also mindful of the fact that my liver needed to shrink for the op and that my surgeon would know if I hadn't stuck to the diet and would possibly cancel as a result. I kept this in mind all the time that by doing this it would make the op easier and safer to perform. It's not easy but just keep thinking about why you want this op and that you are going to succeed. You can have a moan on here anytime you want and we will all support you! Good luck!

Help please. Is my band to tight?

Thank you so much for the imput. when i say vomiting I mean i will be eating and suddenly feel uncomfortable in my chest like the foods not going down then have to go to the bathroom and throw up chunks of food. It happens all the time now but I thought maybe i was eating wrong because several of the times its happened it was bread but then when it happened w/ yogurt I started to worry. Water stays down as long as i dont drink to much to fast. I havent had any problems until recently and I just thought maybe once i started vomiting that it was causing the band to tighten or swell. I dont have insurance so was trying to avoid going back to doctor unless I have to. Thanks
  24. thanks for the fast reply, dorrie! I didnt worry about fat either -- until today. The yogurt that I bought today weighs 136gms a cup. It had 2gms of fat and 3 gms of Protein per 100gm serving. I'm planning to have 2 cups a day - which will be 5.4 gms of fat and 8 gms of protein approx. I just wanted to know if this is a conservative number.

    Food issues

I was having issues with that for a bit after surgery. I just didn't want to eat and even thinking about taking my pills in the morning made my stomach queasy. I just stick with food that had little taste such as vanilla yogurt, took my zofran and changed my multi vitamin bc that made me nauseated. Eventually I felt better. Now I haven't had any nausea but can't wait to be able to stop the omeprazole. He said 3 mos on it. I ate bc I knew I had to. I hope it goes away soon for you, but I would take the nausea med and eat something mild, I figure there was a reason they gave me like 6 bottles of liquid zofran in my prescription before surgery.
