@@Aggiemae We are stuffed with walnut trees here. They are all over the place. The neighbor's cats are well fed, fat and lazy, and Jester the dog keeps everything else at bay. The place is crawling with squirrels. We even had a couple of incursions into the house from flying squirrels. I wrote a story about one of those adventures.

We used to live in farm country but the city moved in around us and now we have a neighbor who feeds squirrels.. for years there were just one or two... then there were five or six, now more than enough... My chickens chase them all over the fields. At least they don't have weekly episodes of domestic violence on my roof like the (extremely well fed) raccoons. Thank God for coyote!

I actually had a bm the day after surgery -- liquid only but it was bc my gas pain was bad and they gave me a dulcolax suppository in the hospital to get the gas moving along. It worked on the gas and let some liquid stool out too the night after surgery. I am ordered to use Miralax daily and was recommended to use colace, so I've been compliant with that. Also got some benefiber to add to my hydration fluids. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Insure Nutrition
Butterflywarrior replied to JohnGraySmiley's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yeh but again I actually said no to several of there pushy product stuff and they requested to submit it anyways which my insurance paid for and even though I wasn't billed, i was pissed off because I specifically told them no and they did it anyways. That's just not right!!! To make matters worse to me, tge scar cream is not technically scar cream, it's a really potent cream for treating serious skin conditions like psoriasis etc and they send me large bottles each month. I called them leaving a message to please return my call on my account and I got NO call back.... Just to add insult to injury, I'm allergic to aspartame and they sent me the bariatric Vitamins despite me telling them no twice. I called my clinic to clear them and this is partially my fault bc I didn't through read the ingredients but aspartame is in them and I got really really sick all day after ingesting one of those vitamins!! So yes, they are legit but tgey are also shady too and I'm not very trusting if the fact that they misrepresentescsrscar cream, pushed multiple products on me and sent them for approval anyways and nothey haven't even returned my phone calls now that they have gotten what they wanted it appears!! -
Probably I'm 10 weeks out did everything I should. Dr wanted me to lower my carb intake just a bit. Yesterday I did. Had my light Protein shake for Breakfast 4:30am then snack at 10am. lunch was tuna around 12 and a p3 which is turkey, cheese and nuts at 3. Took a nap got up had salad w grilled chicken around 6. Headache most of the day. My bs was 40 then 34 then registered low. Finally got it back up. Needless to say I am sticking with the carbs I was on. It was working for me. Dr MICHEL GAGNER, Montreal, anyone? need reassurance before i take the plunge!
Darcia replied to shimmer's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
It is 2 weeks today. I have lost 14lbs. I feel pretty good. I get tired quickly. Iam sure that is because of the lack of calories going in. This is a process you DEFINATELY can't rush. I had my blood work taken and everything was good. My Iron was very high but that is bc of the blood transfusion. I take my Vitamins everyday and am getting monthly B12 shots at my family doctors office. Iam still on puréed/soft food and am totally ok with that. I like apple sauce, Greek yogurt and Soups. I made a really good lentil soup on the weekend. Lots of Protein. Your day is quickly approaching!!! Next week! Take a deep breath. Know the beginning isn't easy but each day you get physically stronger which helps. Be prepared, ur brain takes MUCH longer to catch up. Your brain has no idea what u did to your body and thinks it can eat. HA! Tricked you brain! The body has taken over this challenge! Lol. Keep In touch. Ask any questions you like, I'm here! They just don't get it!
RunningWithScissors replied to danithomas's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm laughing DaniThomas, but I get it. I got the same reaction from people I told. I hoped they would be supportive, but instead I got the same old BS "why don't you just diet? You're not big enough to do something this drastic." I'm 5' 2" and 215 lbs. My back and knees are killing me. I can't even walk my dogs anymore. I can't sleep laying down or I feel like I can't breath. This is for real. We are suffering. My sleeve is scheduled for January 17. Not even nervous, just want to get my life back. You go get the surgery and never look back. -
I call BS on that. She didn't have 6 people visit her profile yesterday so how did 6 people message her? The name calling tells the entire story here.

Here is my thing okay and I'm gunna say this with as much respect as possible. But you had a life changing major surgery and one week after not only are you giving into ur cravings but ur craving JUNK. My problem is this. There are so many people out there who have this surgery bc they need it to save they're lives and for the people who have this surgery and don't make it successful that's taking a chance of ruining the statistics of the success in this which could allow insurance companies to no longer cover this surgery if the success rate drops to a certain percentage. So when u make these wrong choices you are potentially stopping people in the future from saving they're lives or making they're lives better and healthier when they truly want it and will follow thru. And with all do respect you seem to get very upset bc people are just trying to give u constructive criticism sometimes even though u may not like that it's what people need to see oh crap I really messed up and I need to stick with my plan. And I'm far from saying it's simple bc it's not but the one thing I can say is since I have started my pre op diet NOV 8. I have cooked every single meal for my family I have baked Cookies home made pies home made cakes u name it. I sit at the table with them while they eat supper. But I haven't even licked a finger when I've gotten something on it. It's not worth it to me I made this choice to make my life healthier. The vets on this forum have read stories like this over and over again and responded hundreds of times. So by now it just short and too the point and they tell it like it is. But they have been successful bc they listened to what they were told and I'm sure to other vets before them. So maybe when reading they're posts don't take it to heart but think I wonder how many others they had to go through this with. They just are not gunna make it fluffy and surgar coat it but say it how it is. It's always with the best intentions believe me when I say that. I for one like reading they're posts and if I did something as stupid as eating junk like that I would want someone to get on me for it. Think of the reasons you made this choice. Would u rather people sit back and say good job and then this all be a waste. I wish you the best of luck on ur journey and home that this helps you understand more. Also when u need a crunch .... crunch on ice. It's on ur allowed list and does the trick!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I found out today that my esophagus has dilated so my lap band is useless and will need to be removed. I have had an ongoing battle - when I had it 8 years ago, I lost 100 lbs, then put 40 back on. I have yo-yo dieted ever since...filling, unfilling. I can't lose the weight now because of the dilation. I am horrified at the thought that I'm stuck here. My partner - who I wasn't with when I got my band - is furious that I would consider conversion and we had a huge fight tonight. I'm so fed up and so depressed. If I could lose my last 50 lbs on my own I would, but I'm useless at that. I just don't know what to do. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Genepro Flavorless Protein Powder
LittleBill replied to Heidijenn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bought a can of the stuff. It is okay. I've put it in coffee, pudding, hot Cereal, applesauce, stuff like that. It foams up a little, and if your liquid is too hot it will clump, but it doesn't really have a taste to it. I will also say this. They claim 30 grams of Protein in a 15 gram serving. That is utter BS. We have a saying around here. You can't put two pounds of poop in a one pound bag. If you buy it, I'd recommend you count it as 15 grams per serving. -
Has anyone looked at the money they have saved post op?
OutsideMatchInside replied to mbuczkowski's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@mbuczkowski I don't think you really save or it is still about even. Yeah I don't spend a lot of money on fast food anymore, but the food I buy now is higher quality in general so it isn't cheap. I eat high quality Protein, grass fed, wild caught, organic. I don't think most people can really grasp the concept of replacing your entire wardrobe in a small amount of time. It depends on how you dress and what you are willing to spend on clothes but I have had to replace everything. Some things you don't think about like, socks, hosiery, jewelry (all my bracelets and rings are toast), bra, underwear, SHOES (all my shoes are useless, and even some of the one I bought earlier this year are too big). It is a massive expense and there are some things you can't get used like bras, underwear and shapewear. Over the past 17 months I had to replace things every 3-6 weeks. Eventually it will cheaper but right now it is the same if not more expensive. -
What did you replace food with?
ayahbesleeved replied to SlimJill's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think this is my main struggle too. food addiction is hard to deal with bc it's like an alcoholic being told to have one drink a day. But I think exercise, writing, journaling, art, talking to friends. I think the main thing is recognizing your emotion when you're stressed or upset and want to eat and choosing to channel it. Just take a second when you're feeling the urge to eat and think about how ur body is feeling and how ur mind is feeling and parse out what the emotion is. If it's not actually hunger, think of alternative actions that u can take that aren't food. It takes a looong time to be able to do this consistently but keep at it Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
From the people I have talked to you will pay for all anathesia cost, surgeon, and any meds that you may be given during your stay. I think there might be a few other costs. Call you insurance company...I have BCBS FED TEXAS, BASIC PLAN.

Anyone having a sleeve in Jan 17

Anyone having or had a sleeve weighing 200lbs? SD 14/05/17
RunningWithScissors replied to Rachel79uk's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, Rachel. I just joined the forum and will be having my sleeve next month. I currently weigh 215, but because of my height I have a BMI of 39. I am also wondering how slowly the weight will come off, plus I am 55 years old, so the metabolism isn't what it once was. But I figure the weight is going to go down for sure, so how long it takes shouldn't be the worry. But when you take a big step like this to lose weight you want to get on with it already!!! I have only told a couple of women that I work with who I thought would be supportive and quickly got the "you don't need surgery, just diet" BS. What??? Like we never thought of that! I told them that my arthritic knees and back hurt so bad I can barely walk to the bathroom without considerable pain and I'm finding it increasingly difficult to wipe my own a**. That shut them up. I think people who have never lived with obesity just don't understand how it physically (and mentally) affects you. -
One week post op plus best chocolate protein shake
Fit4HisGlory posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am one week post op and feeling great! Days 1 & 2 were hell but I was much better by day 3. I'm getting in all of my Water and Protein but still deal with that grumbling, clenching, rolling, hot contraction like pain from time to time. I've lost 30lbs in the past three weeks, 21 of which were pre op. I wanted to share this Protein shake recipe with you bc to me it's better than a real chocolate shake. I use Bariatric Advantage chocolate (2 scoops), 4-5 pieces of ice, 1 cup of vanilla almond milk, and one capful of DaVinci Gourmet sugar-free caramel syrup. I blend it in my magic bullet for about 30 seconds and voila!! Chocolate perfection!!! I can drink these forever and never get tired of them. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13 -
Yes he did bc I've always worked out from before so I was good my prob is I don't feel full or hungry and that was a prob before as much as I tried I couldn't diet and that's what I feel now like I'm just dieting bc I'm not having a stop point Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
