Is the Pouch Test really necessary to stop a two year stall?
ladyslim2015 replied to serenityjames81's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If u been eating at 2200 cal. a day u should cut down 500 ur first week and then another 500 down the following week bc it's going to seem impossible to go from 2200 to 1000 just like that and the lowest u should actually go down to is 1200 cal. bc u go into starvation mode and will hold on to weight at first but it isnt sustainable. Ladies only ... PMS but no aunt flow!

They can go slightly mental as you loose weight so if it's possible, looks at BC that may help alleviate periods or stop them all together. NHS Glasgow who I'm doing it with requires all woman to be on BC before surgery due to the risk of pregnancy and wacked out menstrual issues. Fridge Pickers Wear Bigger Knickers ???? -
Yep, I hadn't had my period for years bc I had the Nexplanon implant.. and mine came with VENGEANCE 4 days after my surgery! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

5 Days Post-Op & I'm Starving!
minervaxx6 replied to minervaxx6's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess it's good habit reinforcement bc if I'm going to change my eating habits, I'll still be making meals for my child. I've got to learn not to graze off her plate. That's one of my waiting issues Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
People often ask me what's it like post op. I'm almost 4 months out. My explanation. Have you ever been around a baby when it's being fed? Yep that's me. They eat one bite yay, then the second. If my tummy decided it didn't like the first, even if it did 100x before. You guessed it out it comes. So the story of my new life. Finally able to eat eggs and sausage for a few weeks. The inside of a sausage burrito from McD's. This morning "roo" my pouch says nope I no longer like that. After working a 10 hour shift at one client on my way to a 5 hour client now I just want to go home and hug my specially devoted trash can. Ugg. So I regret my decision, not one bit, but some "roo" cooperation would be nice Sent from my 5054N using the BariatricPal App

Female Topic: Any Help?
hayleyf3706 replied to acm22_'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Always Infinity Overnights are awesome. Wear darker pants. Take a pad with you everywhere. And maybe carry a jacket you can sit on. I've had heavy periods my whole life, even with my bc. I know the struggle. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I don't get all the negativity I see here on this site.... ( Yes I quietly read a post a day or two ago that just stayed on my mind...) I kept strolling because I don't care to go back and forth with ppl it's not my style. I feel how I feel and I understand ppl will always have disagreements. But in the future if a person is doing good and post a before and after pic, don't put them down! If it's a Troll.... well it sucks to be them : ( Seriously how messed up must their life be to troll a WLS website! And if it's an actually individual your discouraging them and others reading these comments from posting their success... You don't have to call BS anytime you feel that's what it is, just Ignore Them really it's not that hard and keep strolling because you truly don't know!!! But it made me feel like what if it were me??? Depending on the season my skin my be darker and my hair is always different and my body shape is not like everyone else. I hold my weight very well people don't believe that I'm as heavy as the scale says. So if I post that I lost 40 in 4 weeks or ever hey that's me . We are all different! This site should be to uplift ppl not to tear them down! Grow the HECK UP!!!!( I wanted to say Hell so bad but anyway) Guess What.... You don't have to call out BS if you see it you CAN ignore it.... No matter what a person post on here it does not personally affect YOU!!!! SO WHAT if he/or she a LIAR, SO What if he/or she a Troll!!! And to all the Beautiful People Working Hard to Accomplish your Dreams.... KEEP PUSHING DON'T ALLOW ANYONE TO DULL YOUR SHINE! Love you all P.S. I will not reply to any negative comments I will show you how to ignore ppl....

I am also trying to decide between bypass and sleeve. I'm leaning towards bypass for a few reasons. 1. I have a band that will be coming out in 2 weeks. It worked for a little while but It quit working for me and I have gained all Of my weight back. I want something long term. Bypass is the gold standard. It's been around and shown success longer than any other WLS. The sleeve is the latest and greatest (like the band was 6 years ago when I got placed.) The sleeve hasn't been around as long to show those long term results. 2. I have/had issues with acid reflux, and sleeve can increase those issues. In all honesty, The biggest thing for me is Long term success. I don't want to go through all of this again---weight regain and trying to go through revision bc of a failed WLS procedure. so i guess i need to be tracking calories too.. cannot believe i'm actually saying that out loud.. i followed a NO carb diet yrs ago & was never focused on how many calories i consumed per day.. i will have to be more accountable by weighing & measuring bc it could be that i have been taking in TOO many calories?!?! i once read on one of these sites, you don't have to count/measure bc as long as you're following the rules & have protein,. veggies, the "tool" will stop you from taking in too muich

Before I had surgery ( 3 months ago ) My period was super irregular and when I did get it, it was light but I had blood clots. I still have big BC. Now it's REALLY heavy, and I woke up this morning and there was blood everywhere. I've never experienced this. And I'm sick, so when I sneeze and cough it comes out even more. I am very terrified, and I don't want to leave my house... I am in college and I am super embarrassed. Now that I am losing weight, I've noticed it becoming frequent and heavier. What do you recommend? Any advice? -Ariannuhh❤️

Pre-op-Anyone starting around 215lbs and BMI 35?
Darcia replied to Darcia's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@"Thinfarmer" I had my surgery In Montreal but at a different clinic than where you are going. I had it on November 29. Started at 210. Today weighed in at 8 weeks post op and am down 31 lbs. Iam 179 today. post op: I had to get blood work, X-rays, and an endoscopy. The only pre op diet I had was the day before. I could have Breakfast then after that only liquids. I also had a nutritionist telephone call prior to surgery -which the doctor set me up with. It was included w my fee. Also, one nutritional consult after. I had an initial telephone consultation with the surgeon in planning stage. The communication has been fabulous so far. The staff was great and the clinic pristine. Vitamin regime is impt after. They will tell u all about it. BTW - I self paid. Didn't want the hassle of waiting. This journey is NOT easy. There may be a case of buyers remorse after the first day BUT that goes away. Each day is challenging for the first month. However, each day also gets easier. And the scale victories help on the hard days. It's an emotional roller coaster at first bc your brain has no idea what u did to your body and it needs time to adjust. It thinks u can eat. You can't. The best part was after surgery YOU ARE NOT HUNGRY! At least I wasn't. Iam still not really. Water is the hardest thing to get enough of. You will feel like all you do is sip sip sip. But IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY. 100%. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
MY EX TRIED TO TEAR ME DOWN

Reanea- Just think all that BS talk and do's. its a new year a new you and just added fuel to your fire! They are jealous, he is jealous, because he is and they are not your enabler any more! You have gained control of your destiny and now you have the power. You will define who is there for you and who you will be there for. I noticed "gym" life, weightloss "life" changes who you surround yourself and most important is WHAT is important to you as human and as a woman! I love your smile and you look so awesome! Be proud, be you! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Did you have any blood clots or get one during plastics?
gryffen replied to Be_pretty_epic's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Depends on what disorder your talking about and if you already have guards in place for blood clots? My friend/wls buddy has Factor V plus a clot catching stent installed and she was OK, For myself I developed a BC in my leg a month before gallbladder surgery and was on Clexane for that whole time plus more, needed a clear scan before proceeding. Hi all, I have two insurances, both will cover the surgery but I'm not sure at what percentage. My question is, can approval be submitted to both insurances? One is a little more strict than the other and I think i may be denied through one but approved through the other. Has anyone went through a similar experience? The insurances are BC/BS of AL and BC/BS Anthem.

I had liquid hydrocodone 5mg/375mg (it's got Tylenol in it) and I alternated that with a shot of extra strength liquid adult Tylenol (500 mg). After I got home though, I really only needed the hydrocodone to sleep at night for about a week the rest I just stuck to regular doses of Tylenol every 4-6 hours. It all depends on how you tolerate pain. I will say though, stay on top of the pain don't try to wait and see if it will get worse bc it takes forever for the pain meds to kick in when you're feeling crappy.

Wow, your family sounds pretty cruel. It must be very hard on you. I'm 47 and my dad berated me about my weight since I was about 10 years old. I decided about 7 years ago to cut off most contact with him and it's been freeing. He reached out to me right after my sleeve surgery bc my brother told him I'd had my band removed. I emailed my dad to say I'm well, thanks, and Happy New Year. That was it. I figure that I have enough criticism towards myself. I don't need it from anybody else. Getting this surgery is a courageous move. Congratulate yourself for that! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hi Cherlyn I can understand all of these things you posted. Now I had my RNY in Coos Bay, Oregon July 2, 2013. I had a pretty easy time. But I started having trouble with Strictures right away. I ended up having 5 endoscopes with 3 dialations with my Suregon, but he treated me like I was a "PROBLEM". He even called me and my Husband "PROBLEM CHILDREN". I changed to a different Bariatric Center for my last one. That was Jan of 2015. Now for my hubby's story. He had the Lap Band for 13tyears and lost 100#'s but he still had a lot of weight to lose. His Band malfunctioned, so he went to the same Dr as I did. When they went in to remove the Band and revise him to the RNY. His Band had eroded into his liver so they were unable to do the revision. So fast forward to him seeing another Dr in Portland Oregon. (that is where I transfred to) they wanted him to lose 25#'s before his RNY surgery, which isn't bad except he is diabetic and they wanted his A1C down to a 7 along with his weight loss. He couldn't do both it was lose the weight and then his BS would be out of control again. In the mean time we find out that he has Cancer on his kidney. It could not be taken care of because of his size. So we went to Juraez Mexico. Thru BELITE WEIGHT LOSS GROUP. We had bad care there. The language barrier, the nurses didn't wash their hands only one nurse used hand Santizior. He ended up not getting the RNY because of scar tissue from the 1st surgery. ( I also forgot an important side of this, he got infections from his 1st botched revision and almost died. he was so sick and ended up with a wound vac for 4 months all in all he was sick for 9 months and 3 months he don't remember) So due to him having a different surgery

Yes! Bc calorie intake & burn is confusing & varying.... First it's lower your calories to lose weight. Then it's don't lower em too low or ur body will starve &you won't lose weight.... All i know is im planet-fitness-ing my ass off & staying below 900 calories (bc i cant stuff any more food in there) & my weightloss has slowed to 1lb a week &im 9wks out.... Frustrated! But still thankful as all for the help this sleeve IS giving...
