Has anyone experienced changes in tolerating foods after surgery. I know you can't tolerate certain foods post op but I mean being able to eat something and then suddenly you can't anymore. I was sleeved on July 15 and have been able to eat watermelon since about a week post op but today I had some watermelon and felt so sick I could only lie the floor in pain and then I threw up. What happened? I haven't had any problems before....

If you are pbing frequently, I don't believe you should get more fills. And getting more fills but eating softer foods is counterintuitive with the band, because it's designed to restrict solid foods. It might be that you are too tight, if you are watching what you eat and eating solids first and all that. How much do you eat on a given day? I think your 70 lbs is better than you think it is. That's about 10 lbs a month, which is great, no matter what you started at. I know it's not as fast as you'd like, which is frustrating, but you are doing well

Everyone is different and have different nutritional needs. Many folks are on liquids and or purees for quite a while post op. What is your nutritionists advice on this? I would think that would be the best plan to follow for the right amount of weightloss. Also you really want to be careful as rapid weightloss can cause other health problems like gall stones.

I've always preferred whole food based vitamins over chemically synthesized vitamins. They provide a lot of micronutrients, cofactors, enzymes, etc. that enhance absorption, bioavailability and who knows what else science hasn't even figured out yet. I take Garden of Life Vitamin Code for Women - 2 capsules/day. (Which is 1/2 the recommended dose). If you don't want to do capsules, Source of Life Gold is also really good and has liquid, chewable and tablet forms. I also take a B12 sublingual and a D3 5000 gel cap 3x week. My 6 month bloodwork was perfect.

I am 47 years old in menopause and I have an enlarged thyroid. I am considering the 21 day fix, by Autumn and beachbody, any advice? does anyone know if it will work? It seems like an awful lot of food...but I am willing to try it. Someone please tell me what to do, I do not want this weight back, and I am desperately seeking advice before I buy this plan. -
I had my surgery 2weeks ago..im on pureed and im having problems with my stomach when I drink even water. It hurts really bad. My staples are beginning to really hurt , I think my body is beginning to reject them. I sit a lot and ask why I did this to myself and my family. But I have to look at the big picture and know it will pass and what I did was the right choice. Just taking so much longer to heal then I imagined.

Today is Saturday the boys had softball this morning they played well. I have a few things on my mind and I dont know what to do or who to talk to. Anyway its like this I want to be thin so bad I even enjoy walking of a morning but what the hell am I going to to about my addiction. All I think about is food I know I have made it this far and Im proud of myself. But I am now starting to have withdrawals and I hate it. If I tell Darren or mum how i feel and what it is going on in my mind they will be very disappointed with me and I dont want that. I dont want Darren to be angry with me because I love him and I hate arguing with him it hurts me. I dont need the food because Im not hungry and I know its bad for me so why do I crave it. I hate myself because of my head. I thought I was going good what is happening to my head. How am I going to get out of this head space. Do I need to go and see Jean. I cant say anything in Brisbane because they will get angry at me and I hate the feeling of anger towards me. I hate the thought of letting people down , I dont want to let anyone down, I have failed at this before time and time again over and over. Im scared that I am going to lose it and take it out on Darren and the kids and I dont want that because its not their fault , I cant let myself take it out on the ones closest to me . Im a bit pissed off at myself because I thought I would have lost more weight by now but anyway I have so I have to put up with it. Brisbane on Wednesday .

Hi everyone! -I'm 2 days post op and am absolutely freezing! Why is this? -can you guys recommend any 'foods' for the next 2 weeks? Thank you
-
I know what you meant by foods. Isopure clear protein drinks, any protein shakes, sugar free Popsicles, frozen protein, some people, like me can have Greek yogurt, sugar free pudding after going home. I don't think I will try them though for at least a week. Whatever is on your approved foods list. Did you receive one? Vitamin water zero, propel, POWERade zero the blue one is my favorite! They say you can stay cold for a long time. Best of luck and congrats!

@@Chelsdkunk5894 When you get those cravings drink more fluids, go do something like take a walk, read a book, take a shower, go to the garden. Anything to get your mind off of it. Stop thinking that you will never have those foods again because it simply may not be true and is probably making those cravings worse. My nut has taught me very good habits that have allowed me to deal with my cravings and still indulge once in a while. When you are able to start eating normal foods again which will be a while from now, you will eat Protein first and good carbs second. My body started craving good protein and good carbs instead of all the junk I used to crave. The saying you are what you eat is so true. I used to be a fast food and sweets junkie. I had RNY, I can still eat those foods if I wanted to. My stomach will let me. I no longer desire them. The first time I tasted a French fry post surgery it was so disgusting that I just don't even think about them again. Pasta was my favorite, I have tried it a few times, I no longer care for it at all. My cravings have changed to good protein, vegetables and fruits. It really is weird the way it works. The first month or so you just have to learn to manage that head hunger you are having. Leverage fluids and go do something else to get your mind off of it. You can master the cravings, don't let them get the best of you. Also don't be afraid to reach out to your psychologist if you have a hard time with this. They will give you tools to help you through it. Good luck to you. You will do great!

I'm 1 week and 2 days post op.. Everything went better then I thought it would with my surgery and could not be happier with my progress.. But these cravings are really driving me nuts.. I'm literally dreaming about food.. Food that is so so bad for me and I know I can't have ever again.. I'll admit, I was addicted to food and I think I'm going through withdraw.. I'm trying so hard to keep my eye on my main goal and my future! I absolutely love this app! It's so great to have a place to go to for anything and everything about the surgery pre op and post op.. It's so very helpful and so uplifting and encouraging!☺️

The thing of it is is that you can't think of it as 'sucking'. I have caught myself several times thinking "what I wouldn't do for.....". But you know what? I had this surgery so that I wouldn't be that slave to food... Food doesn't taste the same way to me now. If I know that I will hurt after eating something, then it isn't worth the pain. -
So I had my gastric bypass on Thursday. I am feeling really good......minimal pain, but I am hungry. I thought I was not supposed to be hungry. I am starting protien shakes today, but I am just beside myself on figuring out the food part of all of this. HELP. Alicia

jandseakin replied to 2notbwinded's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you using any protein powder? At 5 weeks I still have Unjury chocolate, warm, for one snack, and put Unjury unflavored in a glass of crystal lite. That alone givess me 42 gr of protein a day, the rest from food. You can add 1/2 scoop unflavored to greek yogurt too for another 20. -

Hi everyone. Maybe I'm paranoid but I was sleeved 11 days ago. My dr started letting me eat real food again ( granted soft, reintroduction etc) since day 8. One night I ate to much. Didn't mean to just ate faster than i should have, probably about 5 oz. didn't vomit but was uncomfortable. That was 3 days ago or so. Anyway today I noticed I can drink more fluids than before. So my question is did I stretch my sleeve already and therefor have failed already or is it possible that there was some swelling in my stomach that may have dissipated or any other ideas? Thanks everyone.

Averaging 400 cals/day GAINING WEIGHT!
TES replied to 2notbwinded's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some of the processed foods during mushies can be high in sodium. Usually you can flush out any related fluid retention with extra water. I was surprised at how high some of the things were in sodium when I started tracking on myfitnesspal.com -

What types of food are you eating? Getting your water in? On you period? This is most likely temporary and will start dropping off really soon. -
hi I'm 22 post op and I'm eating soluds already, my problem is that I feel like I'm gaining the weight back, I haven't notice a drastic change. my one week post of I had to be taken out on the fills that had been placed on my band because I was having to stuck episodes, so now I can eat everything I want and don't rlfeel reatricted. I went for a fill yeaterday and I can still eat as much as I want and not feel full...I have also noticed that i get a lot of sweet cravings and when I eat I notice that i'm eating way too fast but haven't had an episode of food getting stuck..I don't know what to do, or is my lap band not working?

I'm 8 months out and I like/agree with everything PDX Man said. Eating and drinking together is just annoying now because you have to eat again so soon if you eat and drink close together. Also you might really be looking forward to eating and find you can't get enough calories cause you're still too full of fluids. I'm busy! It pays to wait. For me food really is about eating to live; not, living to eat.

Breakfast...just not staying full, need help
scrappinqueen commented on Supporting Spouse's blog entry in Blog 99676
I too have not had a fill and feel hungry in the AM. I have since to keep with the liquid diet, did Whey protein shake (vanilla) with frozen strawberries and bananas, little apple juice and blend. They say that protein makes you feel full and not have the munchies. This also helped me continue to loose weight until my first fill which is Sept 7th, hooray. Things will change once that band is filled so enjoy now because you will have to reintroduce all these foods over again with the fill. Best of Luck.
