  1. I am starting week 2, or my Full liquids Phase. This morning I had an 11 oz EAS AdvantEdge Carb Control RTD, and I sipped on it and I finished it in about an hour... I never felt an restriction. I feel full and satisfied ( not stuffed and miserable, I felt like it was the perfect amount ) I know everyone is different, but my concern is that I am reading about people only tolerating 2-3 oz at a time...I sipped and sipped and took it slow and finished the whole thing - all 11 oz......( 17g Protein, 2.5 g fat, 3 Carbs, no sugars. ) Maybe the 2-3 oz only applies to people who have moved on to pureed/soft foods. The EAS is pretty thin and seems to go right down. I feel like I could have this for Breakfast everyday for the next 2 weeks while I am on full liquids. Am I on the right track ?
  2. I too have the same thing happen I can eat more if I wanted to but my doctor told me to stop eating "safe foods" as he called and that is food that is easy to go down and try to eat more meats. I can only eat so much meat and I am full less than a cup. That leaves little room for anything else. Only thing is I have to take metamucil (i think that's how it's spelled) for fear of being clogged up with all that meat. It works but I do not like to eat a lot of meat. I thought I needed a fill but my doctor wouldn"t do it so I have to eat the meat and things that I know I get full from fast in order to feel full and have a full feeling for a long time. Did I mention that I don't like meat(red meat).
  3. That's exactly what it is like for me, only I am not prepared to try for "good" restriction. Due to being more able to stop easily when I've had sufficient, I've almost lost all my weight and see no need to go tighter to the point where I cant eat bread or other foods. I think long term, the more variety I can eat, the healthier my diet will be. I just think the lap band, to work effectively takes a very large dose of sensible management on the part of the user. I too can eat past satisfied, but I definitely cannot eat what I used to. In a year I've only once or twice eaten just too much and I've felt very uncomfortable and sick afterwards - not something I want to repeat. Some behaviours are just impossible, I simply cannot get down a McDonalds meal in 10 minutes in the car anymore, and that's a good thing.
  4. Hey all im in a weird head space after being in whats called a stalled state and gaining. Sleeved 7/13/16 weight 275.0 1st Week follow up 7/21/16 wt 255.0 6 Week check up 8/24 wt 245.0 I have stayed here in the 242.2 To 247.0 Range 8/24. I walk 2 miles a day and burn off between 150-200 calories. im without a doubt not over eating maybe even under eating..... Not getting the 64oz of fluids in and pretty sure the Protein is not 40-60gm either im off track mentally and I can't digest the multi Vitamin makes me hurl even on a full stomach the smell alone makes me gag. so I don't take it either. I've tried every Protein shake know to man don't like any of them but im pretty sure I should be drinking them less and less by now and learning how to eat normal food correctly again and finding my protein in food. feel like I need a support partner terribly to push me and help me I've short of given up and I know mu body has the potential to still loose another 50lbs. Please NO judgement I didn't join the group to be beat up on. Just need to know what others did or are doing because I can't be the only one that has been through this. What did others do or are doing to push through Find what to eat How much of it And Alternatives to Vitamins Can anyone offer me a template of what you are eating daily? Breakfast lunch dinner and Snacks? Im looking for ppl who have done this and success with it. I Need Help!!!! Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  5. @@AJP1243 I had my surgery the same day as you! I have 3 incisions and all have staples. I have my post-op follow up tomorrow and I thought I read that they will take out my staples then, but I could be wrong. How are you doing otherwise? I am so sick of these sweet Protein drinks I can't stand it anymore! I hope they move me to pureed tomorrow after my appointment. I am def not getting in enough protein or calories. Good luck with everything!
  6. Had Lap band surgery in November 2012. I am down 58 pounds with 1 fill (6cc) and have officially hit week #3 of my first plateau. I have an appointment scheduled for another fill on the 23rd but am wondering how long this will last. In the past, when I have hit these plateau's I would quit and turn to food. This time I have picked up my weight lifting routine. Starting to get frustrating...Any advice would be wonderful.

    Woooaah hunger there you are!

Hehe tell me about it, I am only 9 days post op so I'm still only allowed to have shakes and baby food like things...but that's not cutting it-- I'm STARRRRVING haha
  8. 199.8 this morning. LOL scales definitely aren't "flying" downward like I hear with some new sleevers, but that's (mostly) ok. I think we all want to lose weight as quickly as possible, even when it's not realistic. If I weren't still trying to stick to full liquids/puree (essentially the same thing with my docs office), I wouldn't feel like I had a sleeve at all. No difficulty drinking, haven't had trouble with anything that I've tried, no nausea, soreness, etc. I'm hungry, too, but I'm hoping that will change once I start eating solids. On the NSV side of things, my pants have definitely gotten looser! I worked a big bike race yesterday and although it sucked to be in full police uniform directing traffic for 12 hrs, it was nice to have loose pants while doing it. No complaints (so far and knock on wood!) about the sleeve! I didn't weigh at home before going to MX, but I'm guessing I've lost 12-15 lbs since surgery (2 weeks ago). I've NEVER lost an average of 6 lbs in one week before and now, the scales will be going back in the closet! LOL I'll weigh again in 2 weeks, maybe a month, or, if I can stand it , 6 weeks. Until then, I'll try to make the best choices I can with soft foods (start those tomorrow) and keeping the calories down, but emotionally, I do better without those scale numbers. Cindy
  9. Has anyone had a stall after 3rd week post op and how long was the stall? I had surgery august 5th and then the stall happened in the 3rd week and now its the 6th of November and I'm still in the stall I was 320 pre op 314 on day of surgery and currently 295 my clothes are getting loose and my lower back pain is gone but the scale has not moved more than 295 and 290 I know it takes time and a lot of work but it is very frustrating to me that I haven't lost the weight by now:( I can drink as much as before surgery without restriction and my meals have been cut in half with restriction I'm more active eating less food and just drink Water or coffee but nothing is working Is there away to jump start and get out of a stall because i need one any suggestions will be great thnx
  10. Hi Brooke, I am 9 days out from surgery, and I too have questions. I haven't lost but 2 lbs since my surgery. Total weight loss of 17.5 lbs. total in 3 weeks (2 weeks pre-op). Kinda concerned that the weight doesn't seem to be coming off as fast as I thought it would. My BMI was at 30 when I had the surgery and my weight was 177. I am walking everyday. I am hoping when I get back to work next week that the weight will begin to fall off. I am only having very liquid foods and protein drinks until next week. Then on to soft puréed foods. No complications as far as drinking anything either. But I am careful about how much over what time period. I too am afraid to not follow the drs. orders. I guess I am just looking for support and would appreciate all offered. Christina With a BMI of 30 your loss is going to be slow. Generally the bigger you are the faster the initial weight loss.
  11. Everyone is different. The recommended time frame for food stages are just that, recommendations. My nut said if I try purée a bit before the 2 week period and it is easy on my stomach then I can continue on purée. In the beginning I felt nauseous and couldn't figure out. I now either feel hungry or uncomfortable. Hard to find my happy medium. I'm 3 months post op sleeve. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. I get that too. My doctor said that the food is stuck between your upper and lower stomach in the band area. He said to chew my food better and eat slower.

Liquids for one week after a fill??

After my fills, I'm told to stay on liquids the rest of the day and then mushies the following day. After that, it's back to normal food. If I were you, I would see what you can tolerate after a few days and then go that route.
  14. Moving off all liquids to soft transitional foods. Any suggestions besides egg? Don't like oatmeal or cream of wheat:(
  15. I've been having the same issues for about 5 days now. Suddenly I'm getting stuck on foods that normally pass with no problem. So, back to smaller bites and bigger chews. I get the esophageal dilation fear though!
  16. I just went I. Trip and took protein bars with me. Struggled with food horribly. Stomach was very displeased with food . I was 4 weeks and just started soft. Happy to be home and in routine again !!
  17. I finally have the green light to eat pureed and soft foods but I'm really struggling. Anything I eat - outside of Protein Drinks - I throw up. I thought maybe I was eating too much or maybe too fast so I weighted out 2 oz of rotisserie chicken and pulsed it in my Ninja. I took 10 minutes to eat it. Still no go. What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions on things to try? Is this normal?
  18. Hi All, Having a revision from the sleeve to by-pass on an emergency basis on Monday due to GERD. I live several hours from the hospital so my surgeon wants me to stay for couple of days in a hotel. Started packing for the hospital and have been so preoccupied that it suddenly occurred to me I will need to bring food. Not Snacks this time LOL! I will have a fridge but not a freezer and also a microwave. Can anyone here suggest what to take/buy that will help with me those first few days. I will have to bring a cooler to keep things cold on the day of surgery. Thanks for your help.
  19. I posted a vegetarian/vegan forum on the Food & Nutrition board if you would like to talk
  20. I am 8 days (sorry for the typo on the subject) post op and I have followed my surgeons diet plan to the T but tonight I got so hungry that water or chicken broth wasn't doing it for me. I went out and bought a Dannons light and fit yogurt which is about 6 ounces. And in about 40 minutes I ate all of it. I'm just wondering is this ok or not. I'm freaking out.
  21. Hi there. I am 4 months post-sleeve and 2 months post gallbladder removal. I'll share with you from my experience at least, but as someone mentioned talk to your doctor cause there ARE medicines to help. I started experiencing the diarrhea pretty much right after my GB was taken out and it comes and goes. I was told by my doc that my body is going to take some time, probably a few months, to get used to a constant drip of bile now being inserted directly into my intestine. Now that the GB is gone, that used to hold bile and wait for fatty food to come down the path and then GB would squeeze the bile out to digest the fat down. Now without that "reservoir" the bile is constantly dripping like a faucet directly into my intestine. Unfortunately I couldn't find many online articles about wls and gb removal so it took me a while to figure out why this is a problem and what I can do to mitigate. If too much bile is in the intestines for the fat content that is there (I'm sure you can relate: I'm afraid to eat cause I'm afraid of whats gonna happen so I go extra long between meals), the extra bile causes my intestines to become like a slick no matter what i eat, bam diarrhea. If I eat too much, meaning a meal that makes me feel uncomfortably stuffed with my tiny tummy, there is too much food/fat content in my intestines for the amount of bile that's there and then the food passes through undigested and bam diarrhea. This is especially true for me when it's a fattier meal (good or bad fats, Peanut Butter gets me sometimes) and/or if it's a meal late at night say after 6pm. So for me... 1. eat something nutritious every three hours tops regardless of if i'm having diarrhea now or not. If i don't eat now i'll be in misery later. 2. stay away from food with over 30% fat versus Protein and carbs. supposed to focus on protein anyway. 3. drink fluids, i can't get dehydrated or then i lose all appetite and the will to fight. 4. instead of imodium, i take an antispasmodic prescription medicine my doc prescribed that's often used to treat irritable bowel syndrome. Imodium dries out the stool whereas the antispasmodic stops the cramping and binding so its a lot more effective for me. I'm clinging onto the hope that this is a temporary adjustment, and have seen many people say anywhere from 3 to 6 months things "even out." Hope this helps and take care of yourself.

    Restriction during liquids

I had my sleeve on Tuesday the 4th...and OMG I have been struggling since to get the Water down. Today is the first day I have made a true effort with the Protein. I don't know if it makes a difference but I have the unjury chocolate splendor and after 3 drinks it feels like a brick in my stomach. I can only imagine what real food will feel like. But again your blessed without the issues...I am honestly happy for you it's not good times. =(
  23. So, I was sleeved October 8, 2014. Two days in the hospital and I am now 11 days post op. Doing pretty well right now ... On soft foods and fluids. My sleeve hates bananas, but boy does it love pudding, baked potatoes and applesauce. Weight loss since surgery 12 pounds. Total: 21 pounds. Only thing I hate so far is sipping. When will I be able to drink normally again. Now your turn. Please share your story.
  24. Pure Protein was what they gave me.
  25. I'm 5 days out. My dr believes that have food keeps everything open and trys to get people to eat in the hosp some soup and tuna. most other drs believe liquid is best because it gives all swelling time to heal. I guess I see both points of view. Today I was able to drink/ eat with no problems Hope your doing well!!
