    Having hard time sleeping

Nope. You didn't hurt anything. Next time you want to try foods, stick with the next foods on your list. Try a little oatmeal or yogurt....leave the pecans for a while down the road:)
  2. You will find out when you start eating more and feel the restriction. Since you just had surgery not to long ago, you really won't be eating any large amounts of anything for a while, no matter how hungry you feel. I think it took me at least 6 to 8 months beforeI felt like I could eat a decent amount. Now I do well to eat a full chicken sandwich from Chick-Fil-a. Usually there is always some left. When my co-workers are with me, they don't order much food because they know I'm not going to finish everything and they have become accustomed to eating the rest lol. Yogurt is one of my favorite foods. I have honestly never tried cottage cheese. When I get a hunger craving now, I eat either yogurt or drink a boldthouse shake which has 32 grams of Protein in it. The shakes/smoothies have a lot of calories but its better than alternatives.

    Food question

It's pretty warm out, so I don't eat a lot of hot food right now, but I measure the amount I'm putting on my plate to eat, whether it's something I'm eating raw or cooked.

    Stalling too early!

Your body is adjusting and needs time heal. The best thing you can do for yourself is to put the scale away and focus on getting in your protein. Your weight is going to fluctuate as you lose/retain water, put on muscle from exercise etc. Stepping on the scale everyday does more harm than good. Hang in there and trust that if you make smart choices regarding food, protein and exercise, the weight will come off. You can do it!
  5. colds when sleeved?

My surgery was Sept 8th. At my 3 week post-op mark, my kids brought home head lice. I had to clean like a freak, do massive amounts of laundry and treat & check 3 heads, plus mine. My hubby just shaved his hair. Lol! I paid for it by over doing it and actually ended up taking some pain meds I had left over, plus some valium from having my hiatal hernia repair done at the same time, as well. Because I over did myself, I ended up getting sicker than a dog with a nasty head cold. I had been down for 4 days and completely exhausted. I could not function. Then my 8 year old comes home with a concussion. Oh dear God! I am at wits end. I literally cannot handle anything else right now. My husband has been a saint thru this whole thing. I ended up calling my Nut because I was having extreme pain in my left shoulder on my collar bone when I would eat. It would last for 15 minutes afterward. She told me to take a step back in my foods and go back to really soft mushies. October 7th, my birthday, would have been the day when I can eat normal foods. My nut said it is a referred pain from my hiatal hernia repair. My esophagus is enflamed, as well as my hiatal hernia repaired area. So, eating won't be as easy again until the swelling goes down and the coughing settles down too. I also have to increase my Protein in take to 100g and no less than 64 oz of Fluid everyday. My body is trying to still recover from surgery and is also really trying to fight a nasty cold. So, it doesn't leave me with much of anything to have any energy at all. I am grounded to the couch for another 2-3 days to recover. I've already been there for 4 days. I think I've grown roots already. Ha! I hate just sitting/laying down doing nothing. But, I also feel horrible. I've also been advised not to go to a funeral that is out of town for obvious reasons. Either have to take care of getting myself feeling better and stay on the down low or end up in the ER. So, I am being a couch potato and sprouting roots. Being sick with the sleeve in the 1st month of recovery makes everything about 10 time harder. Trust your doctors and keep healthy, even if you have to post pone. Hopefully, my light at the end of the tunnel will appear in the next couple days. I am so anxious to not be sick anymore and just focus on becoming the healthy me again!!!
  7. I'm two weeks post-surgery and just transitioned over to soft food. I was actually pretty surprised how easy getting fluids and things like yogurt down was. I can drink a 20 oz bottle of Water in 15-20 minutes, 6 oz thing of yogurt in 15 minutes, a cup of blended chili, etc.. That last two nights I've had tuna fish salad and scrambled egg. I was thinking my sleeve must be huge if I can eat 6 oz of yogurt or a cup of chili without batting an eye. 1/2 cup of tuna fish salad - I'm DONE. Can't even think of another bite. 1 egg with a little cheese on it - DONE. I'm glad to see the restriction kick in big-time for more solid foods. It does make me understand more about "sliders", "eating around the sleeve", "cheating the sleeve", etc.
  8. I'm glad to hear that. I'm only 9 days post op and was the same as you. No problems with drinks, yogurt, pudding. I was wondering how my stomach is going to handle the food down the road

    Need to take vitamins

I take my Vitamins like a regular person. I don't take mine with food, I have them between meals. If you think vitamins might make you ill, then I would take them 20 minutes after done eating.

    Food not so enjoyable

From what I can tell you are just sleeved this month. You definitely won't be able to eat much. I am 8 months out and love food. I eat small portions. But it still is not as enjoyable as before sleeve. But that's a good thing. It will get better for you. I regretted the surgery for probably the first three months. After that I am 200% on board

    Total Calories

My surgeon forbids calorie counting! His deal is "you've dieted before it and didn't work." He tells his patients...3 meals a day and no snacking (protein first, then veggie, then...). This is what I REALLY do. I count my calories on fitday.com. I usually try to get 1200 average per day, with a min. of 60 grams of Protein, plus fiber rich foods. I do snack, as when I get hungry I also get the shoulder pain. The only relief, from my shoulder pain, is feeding my stomach???? I need a fill, but have averaged 1200-1400 per day. My loss had slowed, but also I am not requiring the amount of calories because my body isn't as large. I expected this... Shawn
  12. I am a little over 3 months. Breakfast: 2 egg whites with ham n cheese Coffee: it's a must for me Snack: breakstone's 2% milk cottage cheese (10grams of protein) Lunch: meat with veggies Snack: cottage cheese again Hot green tea dinner : meat n veggies Hot green tea I keep my calories @ 800 and under but sometimes I may go over I workout 5 times a week Ps I have found that when I have a little fat in my food, I tend to lose more weight than not having any fat. Best wishes. Ps down 42 lbs and over 25 inches

    Swallowing with pain

I am 5 days post op and feel bloated and distended too. taking big sips of liq seems to make it worse and esp after my 1 oz of pureed food. I found 10 mts of walking and Gas x strips to help and take small sips of liquids. Also that 1 oz of food i get in 30 mts. Walk after eating seems to help things pass along better. When the pouch is empty feels better. Think we need to gauge how much we can tolerate. Hope this phase passes soon
  14. eggs were definitely out for me, even after being released to full foods. Eggs are some of the hardest things to digest. I was on clear fluids, sugar free popsicles, and jell-o for the 1st week. 2nd week I was allowed full liquids - as long as there were no floating pieces in it. Your new tummy is swollen and irritated. You should stick to your doctor's recommended diet to allow yourself to heal.
  15. I am having a hard time keeping any real food down no matter how small the pieces are or how slowly I try to eat. Sometimes creamed soups or ritz crackers with peanut butter stay down, but even the protein shakes are upsetting my stomach and causing burping or discomfort which is eventually making me throw up. The weight loss has been amazing thus far, but I am getting concerned about how this is going or when it might change, etc.. anyone else having this kind of a problem? thanks, Steve

    Alternate Day Fasting

I’ve never followed a diet but inadvertently do intermittent fasting, as well as alternate day fasting to some degree, some days just wind up much lower calories than usual especially with doctors appointments, errands or laundry. I might go from 6pm dinner to 12:00 lunch except for tea in the morning I like yogi slim life caramel apple spice with a bit of ripple milk. Every so often I switch things up. And might vary my calories a bit. I do stick to low carb even though post surgery I haven’t counted, for now it’s protein and calories. And track what I eat. Daily weight. And maybe a note for the day. Like if I’ve had a dr. Appointment. I have to manage things as best I can without the benefits of exercise. Which due to my chronic illness isn’t possible. Just basic things like a shower, laundry, dr. appointment, errand, is like a triathlon to my body. Sometimes just getting up in the morning is equivalent to a workout. i think adding things like IF can be beneficial to Better utilize the tool that is bariatric surgery. It helps solidify the reality that our bodies don’t need as much food as we think. also I have to say @FluffyChix always has awesome advice.
  17. question : Every time i eat my pureed food or eat Soup etc i always feel alot of pressure just under my chest right where stomach starts..i Always feel this pressure actually ..is this normal? And i try and burp and Fluid comes up.. I wish i could just burp so much but i cant .. That is what the pressure feels like ... (like i have to burp huge)
  18. I haven't seen a nutritionist yet, I believe my first class appointment is late May. I eat small meals throughout the day, I found myself hungry a lot and I usually only eat 2oz at a time. But I usually eat something every three hours. But I guess I keep more tab on it, however still being in the puree stage, I wasn't expecting any weight gain. I'm not sure if anyone can share their experience as well? I would love to know that im not alone haha

    Do you count vitamin calories?

I am three weeks out and I am lucky if I consume 300 calories per day. I feel satisfied with 200-300 calories. I don't count my vitamins either. It's amazing how different I feel about food now. It's like night and day! I had a stall during week two and didn't lose anything for 6 days. So far I have lost 27 pounds.
  20. The eating holidays are upon us. I and 13 days post op and still on thick liquids figure that by thanksgiving I should be able to have mushy food according to my recommended food list I can have 3-4 oz of food 3/4 of that being protein... You should tAke your scale or measuring cups. And, yes your family will probably notice,be polite, tell them your following does orders. Don't get involved in the "one piece won't hurt you" game.
  21. My husband, children and I travel to the in-laws every Thanksgiving. I will only be three weeks postop on soft foods. I'm wondering should I be prepared to go grocery shopping or just take my food scale and purée machine for turkey and green Beans? I don't know why I'm so anxious about this. I'm sure family may notice. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    totally math baffled!

At three months I was averaging about 1000 calories (that's where I am now, too, at 4 months). I can't remember where I was at 6 weeks, sorry. However, I was hitting my Protein. I had trouble with working out if I didn't have protein before I worked out and a snack after. I would get dizzy. My nutritionist and the exercise physiologist both said if you don't have time to eat properly yet have time to work out like a fiend, you're out of balance: 80% nutrition and 20% working out. So, are you hitting your protein and Fluid goals? That will make as much difference as the workout. Unless you're craving the workout. I'm working out about three times a week, doing cross-training/circuit type stuff (cardio and weights in the same workout) and have been doing OK with the weight loss. I'm sort of stalled now, but I'm not tracking my food and that's the bigger issue. Kathy
  23. I was the same way I lost a lot the first two weeks and yes I was able to drink freely and without any pain or to much restriction! I also thought that maybe my sleeve might be to big! but NO I feel the restiction now on soft foods after a couple of bites and yes my wieght stalled for a week and now it is coming off fast again I love the way I feel I have been so luck to not have complications!! I also felt the need for solids when on liquids but now I have to stop and make my self eat. My energy level is great and I have droped almost 3 pant sizes!! Keep up the good work!!!!
  24. I went 12 days with no BM and had to finally take a laxative. Now that I am 4 weeks post op and eating real food I have been going fairly regularly.
  25. Your foods that you have been eating were on my plan starting day 7 post op
