    Weight regain advise please

I found out I was pregnant 5 months post op and after I had done a pouch reset period. I will say that I don’t believe the pouch reset actually resets the pouch, what it actually does it take you back to basics and allows you to re-harness good eating habits and reset your primary focus back to Protein. I was trying to get past the 200lb mark when I did it and it worked. It broke the stall and kept me on a downward motion. And now I’m pregnant. Good luck! You can do it!! I want to add, during the pouch reset and such, I was consuming less than 1,000 calories and ONLY focused on hitting those Protein goals. Aim for 60-80g Protein from low calorie liquid sources (to start) and you will have what you need in the short term. Now that I am pregnant, my nutritionist wants me eating 1500-1800 calories a day. I still focus on the protein first and then the calories.
  2. So happy to hear from you Letty! Tomorrow starts my second trimester. Everything is going good so far. My weight has stabilized but I’m not gaining. My nutritionist had advised me that I need to increase my calories by like 700/day. Even with the increase in calories and Protein (averaging 80g/day) I’m keeping level. Did you have sleeve or bypass? I had bypass and I’m really really hoping that heartburn doesn’t return - ever! Hopefully the next 8 weeks go by fast for you! Sounds like you’re going to have a Christmas baby!! Yay!!
  3. Regarding consumed vs absorbed, i would hazard a guess that consumed calories is the measurement. Wouldn’t absorbed calories de difficult to determine? Everyone will have different absorption rates. Maybe better to over estimate than under. Your scale and labs will tell u if u need to eat more or less. Regarding weight loss calories, again it depends on the person and their current weight as well as their current activity level. For me, i could lose weight eating 1800 calories when i was very active, but today that same amount is my maintenance level. My NUT was more concerned about the macro makeup of my meals vs a caloric goal. But she did say, if I remember correctly that i should aim to be at 1200 cals by 3 months and more or less the same forever. Well. I was like at 400 cals at 3 months, and sub-800 by the time i got to goal. And now at 1800. So yeah, her caloric goal did not/does not fit my experience. Best to do some trial and error to find what combination of calories/food types/activity works for YOU. And keep adjusting as necessary. Good Luck! ❤️ P.S. Im 5’2” 119 lbs this morning, and 4 years post op sleeve.
  4. …and now because i like to wrap things up into a nice conclusion, here is yesterday’s 4th and final meal. I haven’t logged it yet in MFP cuz there are so many components and i was too lazy (and drunk, lol) to do it last night. So I took a pic of the menu to remind me to enter it later. Ahi tuna appetizer: 320 calories. Ate everything above the rice. Didn’t eat the rice cuz I didn’t want to get too full, plus it was touching the ginger glaze “lake” at the bottom which was waaaay to sweet for my taste. Lavender lemonade: 200 calories. So pretty, right?! Drank it all. Also had 2 vodka sodas: 150 calories, not shown. sooooo…if my math is right, i ended the day at about 1900 cals (i also had some pistachios, some cheese and crackers and a Lindt Lindor truffle chocolate as snacks in between these meals). It really does all add up.
  5. I want to preface this by saying I am a really small person (4'10") with a small frame, but I eat between 800 and 1000 calories to lose; my maintenance calories will be between 1200 and 1500.

    Frustration

Your comment ‘in my head I’m not satisfied’ set off alarm bells for me & I’m worried you may have developed an eating disorder of some sort even though you say you want to put on weight. Have a chat with your surgeon/doctor & ask for a referral/recommendation to a therapist who specialises in disordered eating. It’s hard to judge your weight without knowing your height but I would worry you are underweight at 100lbs. What does your surgeon or doctor say? I would also think you are eating very low calorie to be at that weight too so if you want to gain weight the first step would be to increase your caloric intake. You can do this easily without introducing cakes, cookies, etc. into your diet. Simply increase the nutritious foods you already consume. This can be through snacks & portion size if your portions are smaller than recommended. Not knowing your diet, consider adding multi/whole grains. Snack on cheese, fruit, vegetable crudities, nuts, some good fats like avocado. Your dietician would be best placed to advise you on this of course.
  7. While there are similarities there are also differences as we have different needs. I was barely eating 900 calories at goal at 6 months but some are eating 1200 within a couple of months. I was never given caloric goals. Just protein, water, & portion size recommendations. It’s best to discuss this with your dietician. They should consider things like, your age, height, build, gender, activity level, etc.

Sounds like you are doing great. I had my meeting on Friday too. I am down 30, they want me to do South Beach again but they said I can do low carb as well. I started exercising today actually but I am having those fall asleep tired moments still too. I am averaging about 7-900 calories. Protein and vitamins are good but water is something I am still struggling with.
  9. I'm 2 years out I've had my ups and downs of weight loss. I've have worried daily in my success of weight loss. On how many calories, rite vitamins, exercise, list goes on. I may have been the lucky one or am I? I went thru the phase of regret not able to enjoy the food I once loved. But I loved loosing the weight. Slowly. Sex drive went down hill. Hair falling out skin crepping. " Blood levels are normal" . Started out with small weight loss goals. Reached my goals. Over and over again my goal weight was 125. I told my self I have to stick to a healthy weight for me . Not what the experts say I should weigh. Then it was a goal of 115. in my head I'm not satisfied I'll do another goal of 110. So I decided it's time to maintain my weight or gain 10 pounds back. Since I'm now 100 lbs. I'm trying to gain weight. And I'm struggling!! I want to gain. should I eat the three C's cake, cookies, ice cream? Of course not what are healthy fattening foods? The positives. Looking good feeling good.
  10. My lunch. Black bean taco with fat free sour cream, lettuce, cabbage, hot sauce, red onions on a flour tortilla. 151 calories, total weight 158 grams. Ate it all. It was yummy.
  11. Hi, Everyone - I've seen a few posts about how many calories people have been eating to maintain their goal weight but none about how much they have to eat to lose weight and was curious, as my surgeon never gave me a target caloric intake (I had my procedure in 2014). He just told me to eat 80-100 grams of protein a day and to focus on avoiding refined carbs. I was also wondering if the target caloric intake people are talking about is total consumption or absorbed amount. (For example, they eat/consume 2000 calories a day but only absorb 1200 of those consumed calories so their target is 1200 absorbed calories?) Thanks in advance for the insight!!!

    Food log?

Closing the day just gives you an idea what you will weigh in 5 weeks if you eat the same amount of calories as that particular day. I recently started MyFitnessPal again, I like it very much. However, at the same time, I am still using the Fitday.com website since it has my monthly and yearly statistics, graphs, food and macros... Etc. of what I have eaten for more than a decade. I wish MyFitnessPal had monthly, 6 months and yearly averages. My diet is by monthly calorie average, not daily or weekly. Is there a way to see your monthly average calories in MyFitnessPal?
  13. May as well post my 3rd meal today too: Persian Food! Salad and grilled meats: 271 calories. Ate it all. (also had 2 sake cups full of…sake beforehand +75 calories, not shown
  14. A Food B&A 3-for-1: yesterday’s dinner, today’s 1st and 2nd meals of the day Yesterday’s dinner: Congee, 192 calories, ate it all. Today’s first meal: Open faced Havarti-poached egg slider, 255 calories, ate half, Mr. ate other half! Today’s second meal: Cole Slaw mix with feta and avocado: 433 calories for the bowl. Ate most of it, and none of the avocado (looked off to me so decided against eating it). Gonna just take off the avocado, so adjusted log to 321 calories.

    Food log?

I like the barcode scan feature and that you can speak your meals and not have to type everything in. You can speak recipes and it comes together seamlessly. It coordinates with my smart scale, and I can add strength training and or cardio not logged by Google Fit. It shows calories burned from exercise/activity too. It really does do a lot more than I ever recall MFP doing.

    Food log?

I use https://www.baritastic.com/ I used MFP for years and I didn't like how it was tailored for lower calorie intakes/wls patients. https://www.baritastic.com/ is geared solely towards weight loss surgery patients, so I feel like it's more user friendly for me.

    Food log?

I just ignore the MyFitnessPal nastygram about low calories. It still works fine, even if they want to complain about my calorie count.

    Food log?

I use MyPlate. There is no problem moving onto the next day even if your calorie count is very low. I like the app.

    Food log?

Hi everyone, I am new to this app- please excuse any mistakes I make. I just had surgery and am wondering what app people use to track food and water. I was using MyFitnessPal, but they won’t let me close the day because of the low calories of this diet. Please and thank you

Weight gaine 3 weeks post op from sleeve

I can see how this can be alarming. I'm trying to remember all this as I go through the process. I still have the worries in my head that this won't work and I'll be one of the people who don't find success... my body so darned and determined to hover around 290 pounds for life. Logic is what you're all talking about with stalls, calories, water retention - but the mind can be so tricky. ' ♥️
  21. Dinner. A cute little dinner roll with a slice of havarti and 3 anchovies (don’t judge me, it was YUM, lol) Ate it all: 238 calories.

    Weight regain advise please

Curious if your doctor/nutritionist suggested 1700 calories or if you naturally got to that #? i am trying to get back to basics but never had a target number of calories as a guide. the focus of my dietician and surgeon was just for me to get enough protein in and to limit my refined carbs. the weight melted off the first few months (50% of my excess) til it no longer did.... i was content being at 215 lbs til it has impacted my fertility. now i'd like to drop another 50 lbs asap!! any advice is much appreciated.

    Stall on loss

This. I fit this pattern to a T. I am 14 months out. I'm working out hard, tracking calories, and have dropped into the 4-5 bs a month range. The fast loss is only at the very beginning for most people, and will slow down. You will have stalls and it will be frustrating unless you are someone very lucky. This is a long game, not a quick fix by any means.
  25. Dunno why, but I just felt for oatmeal for breakfast this morning…which is weird because (1) I probably haven’t had oatmeal in probably 10+ years and (2) I don’t normally eat breakfast hahhaha Anyhoo, 260 calories for the bowl, ate roughly half. (Microwaved 1/3 cup steel cut oats with 1/2 cup water and 1/4 cup milk…topped with brown sugar, cinnamon, blueberries and pistachios) The after pic doesn’t look so great, sorry!
