in principle, the main points have already been described to you. so maybe I'll repeat myself a little. also faced such a situation, now I study all sorts of "hot" creams for wrapping. write that they increase blood circulation in the dermis, which in turn triggers the processes of renewal and saturation of the upper layers of the skin with oxygen. I think to try one of these creams for my belly and thighs. I don’t know for the face ... everyone talks about the need for cоllagen and retinоl, that they are excellent helpers in the fight against wrinkles, and they also talk about necessarily sunscreen (which I successfully forget😓), so I don’t use retinol creams or serums yet because i read tha it's bad combination retinol+sun. But my must have is orаl cоllagen pіlls I use an alginate mask all the time (I buy a large can at once on Amаzon and use it for 1-1.5 years, it is very profitable), it moisturizes the skin very well, I advise you reaed more about it futures and use it at least once a week

Getting nekkid with someone new
Lynnlovesthebeach replied to kristieshannon's topic in The Gals' Room
Congratulations on moving on! You deserve happiness! My opinion is that most men of a mature age will understand what you have been through and if they are lucky enough to be with a beautiful woman nekked, they can overlook a few scars or loose skin. He probably has things he hopes you won't notice too! Since it's morning now-I hope you had a great time! -
I'm losing weight now. The first 10 kg went quickly (three weeks). Now the skin on the arms and stomach looks so-so. She's very flabby. I am training, I am on a HEALTHY diet again, because before this first 10 kg I was eating 1000 kcal. So what to do with the skin? how to do it like before losing weight - filling, elastic? maybe someone knows, creams, wraps, etc.

Im afraid i picked the wrong doctor
cellbell replied to alandk's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've been frustrated throughout the whole process about how inconsistent the different pre-op and post-op diets and instructions have been so I totally feel your pain here! How is it possible that the medical community hasn't done studies and determined a recommended set of guidelines at this point?! Anyway, the others are right that just because you're cleared to do something doesn't mean you are forced to right away. If it helps, my info said no swimming or taking baths until 30 days out AND until the incisions have healed to the point where it looks like regular skin, no scabs or anything. I think it may be difficult because everyone heals at different rates. I'm sorry that you're not feeling supported by your surgeon's office now that you've had surgery; I agree that sometimes the impression is that you're not their problem anymore. The good news is that this has been a really fantastic community for advice and help. -
Way to go!!!! That's awesome! I'm struggling with a bit of a skin infection on my shin right now and there's swelling so I don't see my 8 day stall breaking just yet. Hopefully these antibiotics kick in and my leg returns to normal so I can get back to cardio. At least I've stayed the same, so silver lining is maybe I have lost a pound or two considering the swelling has to add some weight. I will definitely check out that link you posted. Congrats again. Keep up the amazing work.

@kristieshannon ! I've missed you! Sigh. The one single thing I miss from being married for decades is DATING! Lol, there is nothing funner than going on dates with someone new who want nothing but to impress you! (Don't get me wrong, I love me my Mr., but I do remember dating to be FUN TIMES) My initial reaction would be just to go full-disclosure with Mr. New, and if he is a d**k about it, then you can thank yourself for dodging a bullet. BUT...since that provides absolutely no help whatsoever in practice...may I suggest crotch-less pantyhose? Keeps everything in place and firm-looking yet still provides the necessary "access". I'm not talking about regular stockings with a garter...personally I find my own "looseness" in that area to just ooze over the top of them like a thigh-version of a muffin top. I'm thinking more along the lines of the item in the pic below. 😉 I hope you have a FABULOUS time!

As some of you know, I've been through a recent-ish divorce. After my plastic surgery in Jan my husband got weird, angry, super insecure and borderline abusive. I've started dating again and have met a really nice guy. I have disclosed to him about my WLS but not PS yet. Although my loose skin on my belly and arms is gone and my breasts are perky again, my thighs still show the evidence of my significant weight loss. Plus I've got all my PS scars. I've been seeing this guy for about a month. He is super sweet, funny, smart, and supportive. I'm having him over for dinner tonight at my place for the first time, and I imagine things are likely to progress to where he may be seeing said loose skin and scars. I'm so nervous! I'm for sure worried about rejection, about his reaction, etc. Any guidance for me? I'm totally confident and feel awesome fully dressed but am super nervous about being on full view by someone new for the first time in many, many years.

skin spots/ itchiness after sleeve
Arabesque replied to kim0221's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Could be an allergic reaction or sensitivity to something too. Could be something you ‘re eating like some artificial sweeteners can cause skin irritations. Or external things like washing powders, shower gels, etc. Have you changed anything you’re using or eating lately? There’s also a couple of viruses that cause skin irritations & itchiness. I had one a few years back - I scratched myself silly for a couple of weeks until i got over it. -
HEAVY Weightlifting is a GAME CHANGER Ladies!!! Pics included!
Pkump replied to Kat2013's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I have been focusing on weights also, but have not been doing the free weight lifting that you are, I am still in the process of losing, and weights have really helped keep me from excessive lose skin. It it also helps that I am losing slower. I still do cardio because I need to work on my stamina and it helps my asthma, but weights are my preference. -
I am having such a difficult time loosing weight pre-op is not even funny. Has anyone experienced this phenomenon it can be due to anxiety, bad patterns of eating etc. can you share you experience and how did you overcome it?

So glad I saw this—because this is the route I intend to take. (I already CrossFit, so have a whole bucket list of CF-related things I want to do once my weight isn't the limiting factor.) My coach does also program "functional bodybuilding" which I will be following to try and shore up the (inevitable) loose skin. You both look AH MAY ZING. -
Tips on how to shrink the Fat on Hips, belly, tummy and thighs
WendyO posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
So I have lost 100lbs, and I am 11 months post op. I still have about 70 lbs. to go to reach my goal weight. No worries there. What I am noticing is that my butt, belly, hips and tummy still seem to have a lot of fattiness to them. I still have that top part of the belly, under the bust, that seems fatty as well. I have a waist, but then I have the belly apron fat. Any tips on how to reduce this? I am not talking about loose skin, and yes that is a part of it, but it seems like it is still carrying some fat. I do not exercise, and was wondering at my age (62), if exercising is going to help at all. I was thinking of trying to do some light aerobics, and some sit ups, etc. Do I need to give it time for my body to loose the rest of the weight? Any thoughts, tips or ideas would be great. -
skin spots/ itchiness after sleeve
catwoman7 replied to kim0221's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
it's not uncommon for WLS patients who've lost a lot of weight to have skin rashes from the excess skin (although this would be under the skin "folds", not everywhere..), but I haven't read about this on this or other bariatric boards about skin issues from vitamin deficiencies. Although I just quickly googled it, and rashes and other skin issues CAN be a symptom of various vitamin deficiences. Here's one of the articles I found (below). It looks like it can be caused by any number of vitamin deficiencies, so it's hard to tell which one it is in your case. Did they test all levels? It also says they can happen to people who have malabsorption issues or have had G/I surgeries. Again, I haven't read about this on bariatric boards (and I've been hanging around on these for about seven years), so it's evidently not a common issue, but it's certainly possible that could be what's going on in your case. https://www.ccjm.org/content/83/10/731 -
My surgery was ~8 mos ago. I've started having very itchy skin all over my body... legs, arms, chest, abdomen, etc. Everywhere except my face. And there are some areas that have red 'bumps'. They look like a teen breakout but they're not actually pimples, and I haven't had breakouts for > 20 years. If I'm not paying attention, I scratch so much that I end up with huge hematomas/ scratch marks in large areas. The areas with the 'bumps' are most itchy but I'm essentially scratching everywhere depending on the day. I thought it was dry skin but moisturizing hasn't helped. And I've never had this type of problem before during any season. I've lost just over 55lbs or almost 30% of my overall starting weight, and just over 80% of my excess body weight. Not sure if this is even related to the surgery/ weight loss, but my partner remembers we were told something about skin issues if there is some sort of malnutrition after surgery, but we don't recall the details. My latest lab work was essentially ok except for still very low ferritin and vitamin D, which are both HIGHER than pre-surgery because I'm taking the supplements so those don't seem related to my issue. I think Vitamin A was normal as was everything else. Has anyone else been told of any specific deficiencies that may lead to these skin problems, like itchiness and bumps? What specific nutritional deficiencies have you been told may cause this? Thanks!

Really for me the most important things were my phone, charger, kindle, and night guard. I just wore the hospital gown and their socks for my walks. Wore the same clothes home I came to the hospital in (loose - nothing tight). The main helpful hint I will tell you is to have whomever is picking you up bring a pillow. You’ll want to put that under the seatbelt so it doesn’t touch your incisions directly. Saw that advise on here and so glad I followed it.

I use obvi collagen proteins or vital proteins collagen powder daily. I do not count towards my nutritional goals as I use it as a hair/ skin supplement. My skin is definitely better - my complexion has improved/ feels softer. I think it is helping with hair too. No noticeable hair loss after 6.5 months ( including gall bladder removal around 5 months post sleeve).

What others have said. I also brought a loose robe for walks in the hallway.

Any 45+ year old women on here with gastric bypass experience?
learn2cook replied to timmytommy's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi @timmytommy, I’m 53 , post-menopause, and lost 72 lbs pre-op which was 11 months. Weirdly no weight loss at all during the liquid phase before surgery, no idea why. As soon as I had surgery (RNY) the weight has peeled off. Just 13lbs the first month but I’m elated! I can move so much easier. I compare it to WW when .5 a week was a victory. I know I loose slowly, but I feel like all the tracking, measuring, and exercise NOW makes a difference. -
I was miserable the first two days. Then I used spanx to keep the loose stuff inside still so I wouldn’t feel pulling. I’m four weeks out and still sleep with spanx. I avoided the couch because it was too low and couldn’t get up without pain. I also bought a raised toilet seat to be independent. It was $20 on Carewell.com . Do whatever you need to do to get through it, no shame. You will get through! Talk with your bariatric professionals. They know what’s normal.

July 2021 Surgery People!
eholmes89 replied to Sammys_VSG_Evolution's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey all! Bit of advice, or just someone to confirm and ease my mind! So my overall target weight to loose was 5 and a half stone to get to my target weight. A healthy weight in the middle of my ideal BMI. 8 weeks post op I am roughly half way through reaching this target with a 2 and half stone lost. however I feel this is slowing down… I still can’t eat much so I’m not eating loads more or anything… I’m trying to keep my water intake up.. im crap at sticking to exercise plans - But trying to walk and move more in terms of housework etc. do you think it will continue again? Im having a doubting moment…. 😢☹️ Or do I need to sharpen up and get my self exercised …. I think I know the answers just probably need someone to tell me as well… em x -
Collagen Peptides
jenny8791 replied to Sleeve_Me_Alone's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I also take the Vital Proteins collagen powder, but I do not count it toward my protein goals for the day. It's not a good protein source. I take it mainly to help my hair and skin. I figure the protein in it should just be a bonus. If it helps, it helps but I don't want to count on it for my health. -
WHERE ARE MY AUGUST 2021 PEEPS?
imhenryxvi replied to phenomenally_me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh no! I would be so upset if I were you! I guess just remember that the weight is coming off, just much more slowly than expected. On the bright side, perhaps you won’t experience the sagging skin that a rapid weight loss can cause? -
Psych Meds after Gastric Bypass
learn2cook replied to EsojLabina's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thank you for sharing such a personal heartfelt story. My brother is bipolar and schizophrenic and he gets great relief exercising outside all year, particularly winter. He has been able to reduce his meds and loose weight as a result. -

Congratulations on an amazing achievement!! It’s such a great feeling. I used to hate shopping too but now I have become a bit of a shopaholic and look forward to wearing new clothes that fit right and aren’t loose and drab (my choice to wear clothes that were too big and drab of course but that’s what I was comfortable in). Good luck with the shopping and I hope it ends up being really enjoyable
