  1. yes... productive burp. Basically from my understanding it is throwing up, but from your pouch, not your stomach.
  2. I have a "fill" apointment in 30 minutes. Don't think I will be getting a fill today. I'm feeling great, have great restriction and am down 10 pounds over the last 4 weeks. I am lovin my lap-band!
  3. I had acid reflux every night of my life for several years until I had the surgery. Have not had it since! Not even Once!!! Love my lap band! I think if your band is too tight or has slipped you could experience it, but I have absolutely no problems with it. Good Luck!
  4. Marie Calander's Chicken Fajita Bowl Steamer... DELISH! It's not a "diet" meal but only 330 calories, 22 protien.
  5. I'm a calorie counter, been doing it long enough now that I don't even really have to write it down, however, I "cheat" more when I don't physically write it down.
  6. I have struggled with my quantity at meals... At breakfast I can not eat anything, not a bite. It will come back up. About 10:00am I can manage to get a yogurt down. By lunch i can eat about 2 cups of food and the same for supper. This usually does hold me over to the next meal though without any snacks. They say that you should only be able to eat a cup of food, I have yet to experience that. However, I have been thinking, I could probably stop eating after a cup and not be hungry? But I think I would require a snack between meals. My dr. is happy with how I'm doing and I have been very honest about what I eat. It seems to be working for me. I manage to get in all of my protien so I don't do the protien shakes. Good Luck!
  7. 19 Below Zero, but no wind! That's a balmy January day in Grand Forks, ND ! Have a good one!
  8. I really need to shop too, but keep putting it off. Don't think I can much longer!!! Great job ladies!!!
  9. I do them often for lunch. It seems to work out pretty good for me, some of them have quite a bit of protien.
  10. I was a chocoholic before surgery, for the most part it doesn't bother to go without sweets now, but once in a while I'll get a sweet craving. I go for yogurt, or have a crystal light. Also, i used to always have a candy jar at work. Once in a while I'll buy sugar free "Wurthur Originals" to have at my desk at work, usually does the trick for me.
  11. I didn't start exercising until 3 or 4 months after my surgery but I have to tell you I think it is key in losing weight. I didn't exercise over 2 weeks during Christmas and lost nothing. I started exercising again the 28th of Dec. and I lost 4 pounds this week! I don't always eat right, and I definately eat larger portions than they say I should be able too. Exercise and Water I think are really key elements. Some days I have to drag my hind end, kicking and screaming, to the gym. I feel so good after I work out. And I think I get most of my motivation from seeing the scale move. That really motivates me, every single pound motivates me more. WE CAN DO THIS!!! Get back to it, and when you fail to exercise or eat not the healthiest one day, just get up the next and start over, don't beat yourself up, just start again. Good Luck!
  12. WOW... how great!
  13. I was told the carbination can stretch your pouch! Wish all these Dr.'s were on the same page! Who knows???
  14. I have a standing everymonth apointment with my dr. Sometimes I loose 12 pounds, last month I lost 2. But they really, really encourage me to come and see them. I would be really pissed if my dr. made me feel like I couldn't come see them. They are doing you a service, you are the customer, don't be ashamed. There are lots of reasons you may not be losing weight, the dr. office is the best place to figure out why. Hardest part is being honest with them and yourself. When they wanted to know what was going on with me last month I replied "no exercise... and....cookies!) Use your support groups. My clinic has several different classes dealing with exercise, nutrition, behavior modification and support group. If you think it is your habits and not the fact that you need an adjustment, you should look into it and see if there is other help out there for you. You're worth it, don't let the dr. make you feel like you are failing! Good Luck!
  15. my "fill" person told me that as you lose weight, your stomach also shrinks some. So you may be at a really good spot for a long time than all of a sudden need another fill because your stomach has shrunk therefore loosening up your band.
  16. i was told the problem with cafinated coffee is it is a diuretic, so it can be dehydrating. I was told for every cup of cafinated coffee I drink I need to drink an additional 16 oz of water. I miss my coffee, i drink decaf most of the time just because it's hard for me to get the extra water in. But every now and than I need my whole bean gormet cafinated pot of java!
  17. I always had restriction... right from the start. the band is only about 1 1/2" in diameter, certainly that much give us some restriction? I guess it must work differently on different people, but I have always had some restriction since the very first day I left the hospital.
  18. I take 1 Centrum Chewable Vitamin Plus Minerals (need the iron) and 2 Viactive Calcium Chews with Vitamin D daily. I just had all of my levels tested and everything was great except my Vitamin D was a little low. I will admit, sometime I forget to take that 2nd Calcium Chew. I must be better at that! I didn't start exercising until about 3 months after my surgery, wish i had started earlier, it made a huge difference in my weight loss. I would think you could exercise moderately up until 6 weeks, than you should be able to do anything. Good Luck!
  19. I am 6 months post op. At first I followed the "plan" pretty close because I was worried about something going wrong. I don't understand the people who say they have NO restriction. I have always had some restriction, I saw the band before they put it in, in my surgeons office and it is only about 1 1/2" in diameter so I would think everyone has some restriction, the fullness may not have lasted till the next meal but since I have had the surgery I have never been able to even come close to eating what I ate before, I call that restriction? If you are eating "mushies" after you are past the mushie stage, you are going to be able to eat a lot more. I try to follow the "plan" for the most part, but I do eat things I shouldn't eat once in a while. I now have 5.2 cc in my band and it has made a world of difference in what i can eat and the quantity, but if i make the wrong choices... I can eat way more than a cup of food. I don't beat myself up when i snitch something I souldn't, i just get up the next day and move forward. I have so far been pretty successful. My clinic uses the term "mindful eating" a lot and I have to say I really need to think about what I'm eating but even more importantly, why I am eating! It is not always easy to recognize when you are "full" or should I say when you "are not hungry" Good Luck to you, it's a great journey, I'm enjoying every minute of it!
  20. After my surgery, i had to take a "new start" exercise and nutrition class. One of the classes was on the big ball so should be fine!
  21. 1.) Water, Water, Water 2.) Exercise 3.) If you have a bad day/week, just keep on going, don't beat yourself up... keep on keeping on. The weight WILL come off!
  22. Get back to the Doctor, don't be scared or embarassed, just do it! Get a fill and really start thinking with your head, not your heart, about your hunger. Do NOT have junk in the house to eat... GET RID OF IT ALL!!! Get exercising and be proud of every ounce you lose. If I can do this, you CAN do this. I was a horrible eater, sweets were my thing and I overate at every meal! I thought I would have such a hard time with the band but I really wanted to do this and you know what I found out... I CAN DO IT!!! I really can. If I have junk around, I eat it.... so I dont' have it around and guess what, I don't miss it. You know what I enjoy even more than all those sweets i no longer eat... losing weight. I really feel GREAT about every single pound and when I go a week without losing I just keep going and when that next pound comes it's better than a brownie! I am 7 months out of surgery but I make a standing monthly apointment with my clinic. Sometimes they give me a fill, sometimes they don't. i'm honest with them about my eating habits and how I'm feeling. They want to see you succeed and they see people all the time that are having problems making the band work... they will help you! Really, the key is knowing your not hungry, not eataing just to eat. Believe me, I sometimes still eat things I shouldn't but I get right back to it, I don't beat myself up, I just get back to it! Good Luck to you, I know you can do this... Get back to your Clinic!!!
  23. Would do it again in a Heartbeat! Only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. So happy with my results and I have a long way to go!
