  1. Well done for spitting out!!!!! No harm done and you drank your broth guilt free. We all ended up in this place because we have a distorted view of food and have used it to meet some need other than hunger. It's going to take time to change the heart and mind but we all have been brave enough to take this HUGE STEP. With a prayer and song we'll get to our goal. Hmmm maybe singing as we cook would help!!! I occasionally feeling like grabbing my grandson's peanut butter sandwich and taking a huge bite.... i am still resisting and it's 3 days to go to soft foods. YAY!!!! Good luck to all of you. Des

9 days post op and battling with liquids only but am grateful that I have more freedom than so many other people. Counting down to baby food Home , click on it
  3. I'm in my second week too and also struggling with the same things..... grrrr. The thing that helps me (sort of) is to remember that I (we) have internal injuries that are trying to heal. Hang in there... not long now and we can have the mushies and then after that NORMAL food. I'm trying to keep busy to distract myself but overate on jelly (Jello?) today. I live in South Africa so our english may differ in meaning sometimes : 0 )
  4. I'm on week two of liquids only and it's just such a huge challenge especially feeding my family. I just want to grab and chew something!!!!
  5. Hi there. I was banded last week Tuesday and the same happened to me. Called a friend who had it 8 months ago and it happened to her too. It lasted a few days and suddenly BOOM the weight came off. The drip I was on added the weight and my body was in shock so a lot of water was retained. I'm sure it's the same for most of us banders. Congratulations on taking such a huge step and taking charge of yourself. May your journey be more smooth than bumpy. Warm wishes, Des
  6. Hi Natalie... so sorry you're feeling low. I was banded 9 days ago but have a detailed eating plan for each stage. It struck me that you don't seem to be eating enough! There is a huge amount of literature on the value of eating 5 - 6 times a day having 2 and 1/2 hours between each meal. Breakfast, mid-morning snack, Lunch, mid-afternoon snack, Dinner. The other hugely important thing is having 2 litres of water a day. I keep a bottle with me all the time that I sip from so I can keep a check. No sugary stuff in it. I do hope this will help you. Is there post op psychological support for you or someone safe who you can chat to and share your feelings? Warm wishes, Des
  7. Hi Lorraine. My name is Des, I'm 57 and a gran to 2 beautiful little ones. Had exactly the same motivation to have it done and went ahead last week Tuesday. I'm already feeling the benefits - my knees aren't so sore, and it's only 9 days. I wish you all the best to the beginning of a new life of renewed health and strength so we can have fun with the grandkids! Blessings, Des
  8. Congratulations! So glad it went well and hope you slept like a dream on the recliner. Rest, rest, rest and take it slow in these early days. We're learning to love ourselves!!!
  9. Wonderful to hear how well you're doing. Congrats. My port area is still tender and a friend whose had the band says it goes on for a couple of months. I am putting on vitamin e oil to help with the scarring. Yay for your staples coming out!
  10. Hi I'm Des and I'm 57 years young. Was banded last Tuesday 14 Sept and it's has gone so well. I am so glad I found this site as you need some pep talks and encouragement - well I did on the 4th day when I felt very depressed which thankfully is now behind me. I can hardly believe I'm losing weight after a lifetime of struggle but it's happening and have already dropped a few pounds. Lots of luck and looking forward to hearing how it went. Feel free to ask any questions. Warm wishes, Des
  11. :smile2: Sorry you're feeling so frustrated. Wondered if you're eating enough and drinking enough. I eat every 2 hours = 6 meals a day and drink from a water bottle all day - try to do 2 litres by bed time. I know you have to keep the internal fire going to lose.... Hope you're having a better day.
  12. Hi there... you don't need to worry. I was banded 8 days ago and my weight went up too. Remember the drip you were on? You are carrying a lot of fluid in your body. 4days after the op my weight just dropped off and now I'm less than my weigh in weight on the day of the op. My clothes are looser and I can feel the difference. Just rest, relax and let your body heal - you are going to wake up one of these mornings to a sudden drop in weight. Promise!
  13. Totally agree with you. Took me a year to decide and the BIG thing is you need emotional and practical support from you near and dear ones. I was banded a week ago today and have my husband 100% on board with me. It's NOT the easy option but the best long term one. I didn't want to die trying to lose weight the way I have tried over the last 30 years! I have lost 7kg (15 pounds +-) since starting on the preop diet to now. I also did a huge of amount of finding out on the internet so I knew the good the bad and the ugly of banding. Good luck
  14. Hi there, my name is Des and I was banded last week Tuesday - 14 September. I really felt nervous on the day but it was all about the unknown! One week down the line I'm feeling pretty good. Are you on a special pre-op diet? I see you;ve got the work function so what have you planned re eating? I also went out the night before which kept my mind busy!!! I pray that all goes well for you on Thursday. You're starting a new life!!!! :rolleyes2:
  15. Hi there. I was banded a week ago and want to encourage you as tomorrow is your big day. You are going to be so pleased you went on the liquid diet as it does affect the weight and size of your liver and makes the procedure that much easier and quicker for your surgeon. So, God bless - it's the Spring of your new life! :rolleyes2:
