My story seems to be consistent with others...I have fought with my weight all my life.  After having my son at the age of 23 I started taking diet pills and from then on it was up down up down...the ups kept getting higher and higher.  Last year I decided I was done with the  diet pills.  I knew the were not good for me or my heart.  I was watching Dr. G the medical Examiner one day and she was performing an autopsy on an obese person.  At the end of the autopsy she said you can not imagine what the inside of an obese person looks like.  She said if you are overweight you need to do whatever it takes to get the weight off... whether it is weight loss surgery, calorie counting etc.... just get it off!  Well I knew what I needed to do at that point but unfortuantly it was not covered by insurance.  Then a few months later we came into a little $$ and the first thing that popped into my head was lap-band.  I knew about the procedure as I had been researching it for a couple of years so I knew that it was right for me.  I went to the doctor in Feb and and scheduled my procedure for Aug.  When I told my son what I was going to have done he said wow mom, I've never seen you skinny!! It all hit home, I was headed down the right path.
