    Black Eye

Wow Day Dreamer, I feel your pain! I was about 50 pounds less just a little over 6 months ago, but I could not, no matter what I did, drop below 180 lbs, which was still 55 pounds overweight for my height. So, I had to gain weight just to get this surgery to make sure I can finally get past 180 lbs! How sad is that? It was the first time EVER I went to the doctor and actually hoped I weighed enough, or more, for WLS. i can really relate to all the tings you said you feel about yourself. I hope you can get insurance approval and can get a sleeve or bypass. I don't recommend the LB if you have more then 50lbs to lose. I went to my first seminar not ever expected to qualify, but here I am a little over two months later, laying in a hospital bed typing to you, and freshly sleeved! Bad choices didn't all form over night and they can be changed, in my opinion, with the wonderful tool of WLS. It's not the cure, the answer and will be suddenly easy, and you won't like yourself in the mirror the day after surgery still, but it gives you hope that in 4, 6, maybe 10 months, you will look in the mirror and find that beautiful you that you knew if there under the fat.
  2. Wow, that’s something else. The phlebotomist just came to draw blood and he discovered we have the same tattoo on each of our arms!

  3. So, my doctor just came in a laughed at me saying I don't look like i just had surgery, and I told him I don't feel like I did! I seriously feel pretty darn good, other then slight soreness, and already walked 5 laps around the 2nd floor room area!

  4. In the hospital, feeling great, surprisingly so. Just groggy and a hell of a dry mouth!! Thanks for all the well wishes and comments guys, it means a lot to me!!

    Sleeved 6 hrs ago

Woohoo!! I am sleeved too! They did mine just this morning and sounds like we are in the same boat. I really feel very good, other then being so groggy, sucking ice chips and walking around just fine! So cheers to our great surgery and to our speedy recovery!! And to kissing ours pounds goodbye! !!!!! How I feel!!!!! lol
  6. Woohoo!! 24 hours from now I should be an hour into surgery!!!

  7. DazyKrazie, I have had the same thoughts about this being more damaging then helpful especially when I have babies to think about, but if we let our fears get the best of us then we wouldn't be doing the one thing that might actually give us a real fighting chance. Just think of this, my surgeon told me that being 150 over weight has the same effect on your body over time as smoking two, hear that TWO, packs of cigarettes a day!!! And that can cause massive damage and bring a much quicker death. So, trust your gut, and trust fate that this is just one step in taking back control and stepping farther away from death's door rather than closer. Hope all goes fantastic for you and look forward to your updates!

    GAVE IN TO TEMPTATION!!

Try not to over stress about it. Get a good work out in today and stick to your diet from here on out. And think about why and how you are more likely to fail, what sets you up, what makes you fail and avoid it in the future. It happens to the best of us, all we can do is push forward. There is no going back now anyway, so just keep with what you know you need to do!
  9. So, kind of a total loser, but I actually drank a Profect for dinner tonight and I have not even had surgery yet. I'm a little gung-ho I guess you could say ;)

  10. I am kind of bummed. I know I shouldn't be, but I can't help it. I have been on this pre-op diet for 8 days now and have honestly done really good. Sure a few times I had a few more ounces of chicken over what I was told, but I have never gone over calorie limit and have not splurged on anything. Not even eaten any foods I wasn't suppose too. Just a little extra chicken or veggies sometimes. But I just feel fat. I mean, I know I AM fat, but I thought I would be feeling a little better and for sure I thought I would see a number or two drop from the scale. I have been working out, cleaning and just all around been way more active. I am almost panicking, thinking, what if my liver is just too fatty?? What if I did this pre-op diet wrong? I should have lost a few pounds right? What if they see I didn't and think I am a poor choice for surgery because they think I didn't follow the pre-op diet? And all of this in my rational mind if laughing because I know it's silly, but it is just dumb paranoia that I just can't shake. My surgery is on Wednesday and I just want to go in there feeling like this whole kick off prior was a good thing and that I am on a good start to a new me. And right now, I just feel like the same old fat me, never gonna lose a pound, and nothing will work even this surgery. I am sure everyone freaks out thinking this will not work for them, and I keep telling myself that. And I need to stop comparing, but it's very hard not to. Oh well, one more freaking starving day at a time I guess. Ok, I'm not actually starving, but I do miss food, the taste, the smell, the texture, the momentary happiness. But I am so ready to find the new thing, and the new me. So, just cross your fingers that still do the surgery!! Ugh, dumb fat, just go away already!!
  11. Day 5 totally sucked! I was so hungry all day, couldn't seem to shake it no matter how busy I kept myself. Stayed within calorie range, but could have made a few better, and smaller choices for dinner :(

    8 MORE DAYS!

Only a little over a week away!! So ready for this! I went in for my pre-op surgical visit and it seems all is good to go. Got all the things done needed, chest x-ray, ekg, and lab work. Took a two and a half hour class on how to eat after surgery and more info then I could have possibly imagined. It feels good to have such knowledgeable people I know I can ask anything to and tons of resources for this surgery. I am on the tail end of Day 4 of the pre-op diet and so far it really has not been bad. Day 1 was the worst for me because of the horrible headache from the caffeine withdrawals, I forgot about those! But I am all good now! And feel pretty good too! I have been able to get on my elliptical a few times, and then did some major house cleaning the other day so that was a work out in itself. I am shocked at how easy it is to really pack in the protein and not the calories or fat. I had 850 calories today, 150 under goal, and 132 grams of protein!! Which is like over twice I was told I had to make sure I got. So, only real thing I am worried about is that I love, and I mean LOVE, water, but I gulp, chug, inhale, breath it.....no take tiny sips of it all day long. I have never had a problem with water intake, but now am facing a small mouthful every few minutes deal? Yikes. So, I am practicing now, when vomiting is not such a scary thing, rather than after surgery when it is. I told my husband if I have to use coffee stir straws in order to sip less water and protect my new fragile tummy, I will! Oh hey, ONLY 8 DAYS GUYS!!!!

    8 MORE DAYS!

You know, I was just reading about the straw issue last night! Thanks for letting me know, last thing I need is air in there!
  14. Wanted to be like the cool kids so I made a weight loss ticker. Now to watch it move!

  15. I am just about done with Day 4, and all I can say is Day 1 was the hardest for me so far. But just think about the end goal, how much safer it will be for your surgeon to work, a decrease risk of complications, and how happy and proud of yourself you will be tomorrow when you wake up on Day 2 knowing you did it! Stick to the plan, find something to do, and it will pass. The hunger pains suck, but being overweight is suckier, so do it just for this short period and then think of the reward of the surgery making those hunger pains go away!
  16. So I went in for my pre-op blood work and the phlebotomist asked if I had been drinking enough water cause my veins where hard to find, I wanted to slap her!!! I have been drinking like 80+ ounces a day! She needs to get her eyes checked I think! lol

  17. Day Three of Pre-Op diet! So far doing great! Very mentally starving, but also mentally strong, which is a good counter to the hunger pains :D

    Upper arm compression sleeves?

Hey guys, I just ordered one of these today because I swear by wearing a compression garment. I am not sure how much they help really with the extra skin, but I know I work out about 10 times better when I am not flopping all around and feel nice and secure. So maybe something like this could help with your arms. It's similar to the one Spanx sells, but with sleeves and a little cheaper, but the even 3x is really not as big as you would think, so check the sizing chart first to see if this is an option. Check it Out!!
  19. Woohoo! Congrats! Hope all goes great!
  20. just wanted to say thanks for the blog and hope your surgery is going great!

  21. Wow...wow, wow, wow. I still just cannot believe it. I have been reading so many posts on here and just keep getting more and more excited. I have been hoping for this for so long and to think it's going to happen in less then 3 weeks is just....shocking. My husband was so adorable when I told him. He knew how much this means for me, I got very emotional, but I did not except him to get so emotional also. It was so moving because he is not normally like that, so it really showed how much he really supports me. I don't see it most the time and it was like a giant flashing sign that knock me to the core to see him so happy for me for something that makes him so nervous. I am just so excited for this part of my life to really start. I have two beautiful kids that I am so excited to finally have pictures with them, and vacations, and park days, all while being a normal weight. It means so much for my life because I feel so blessed and am so thankful for all I have, but feel so distraught over this one thing, and now I feel like this one thing, this fat, has been keeping me from so much more. Alright, enough gloating, I still have a long ways to go and I am afraid to be to optimistic about the end results just yet. Hope this day is finding all you Sleeved and soon to be Sleeved friends very well!!
