I don't think I took the easy way out!
The way these people feel is how I thought about this whole Process. I was over 400lbs for 3-4 years and my dad asked me several times, if I would look into WLS. I told him that I could do it on my own. Well 4 years later I still hadn't done it. I agreed to look into it and within 2 hours of reading about the lap Band online I decided to go to a seminar. After that I knew I wanted to do this for me. I have missed out on a bunch of activities the past few years because of my weight and was Tired of it. I knew that I was ready to change my life style and had a good group of supportive Family and Friends that are all willing to help. I have only run into one person that looked like He wanted to say something. He just recently lost 70lbs, but he went to the Dr and got a prescription. I don't know if I really get people's True reaction because I am such a large Guy. I think These people are Idiots. I am only a weak Post op but I fill Like I am working hard. I hope to be able to start a better Exercise plan Thursday after my Doc appointment.

Then it went all downhil...
Yes, I was told not to Drink out of a straw also. You will take in some air with each sip. Day 4 was probably my best day but days 1-3, my stomach was so swollen that I couldn't get anything down. I am 1 week post op today and ate some mash taters for lunch and it was the first food since the surgery. Had me feeling good for awhile but now I am really hungry.

One Week Post Op
Had my Surgery one week ago today. I am back a work and am really tired. I am ready for some real food. I am a little lite headed sitting at my desk today and think it might be the lack of food for a week. I am thinking about trying some mushies for lunch. When Did everyone else start Mushies? I have heard 1 week to 3 weeks. Everything else is going good and I have lost 19lbs Since my Surgery.

Thanks everyone, I am going to get the protien shots tomorrow. I was told I needed a lot of protien because of my size. I am over six foot. I was getting a little nervous with only a little broth and juice and water. I will let everyone know how I progress.

Have you guys watche Too Fat For Fifteen?
When I was 14 I was 275 lbs. I went the dr route and took the diet pills. I lost 85lbs and kept it off until I was 17 and started gaining it back. Now that I am 28 I just got banded and weighted 440 at my top weight. I think 14 is to young to get banded. I could have changed my lifestyle before I got to this point.

Day four getting better.
Alright I am now on day four. I was still unable to get anything down this morning. I went in to the doc office and he decided to take some fluid out of the band. I didn't think their would be any fluid in the band after surgery. He ended up taking three CCs out. I was beginning to wonder WTH I got myself into after not having any liquids for 3 days. After the ccs came out I drank a cup of water and had instant success. I am already feeling much better. I have now had some apple juice and Gatorade. Hoping to get some broth later today. Hope everyone is doing good.

Day 2
Not much better than day. Still can't keep anything down. Everything feels stuck. I have only tried water today and it doesn't last long. The doc says the band could be too tight from the swelling. Told me to give it until thursday to see if it gets any better. If not be in the office at 9am.

Banded today (9/20/10)
I don't know if it is gas pains or not. I have tried some Water, popsicle and chicken broth. The only way I can describe it is that it feels like it is still in my esophagus. I keep having to make myself vomit so I can get some relief. I am planning to call the doc first thing in the morning.

Woke up Sick
I am suppose to be banded Monday but I woke up this morning with a little bit of a sore throat. I am a little nervous about calling the Surgeon because he might want to reschedule the surgery. I feel fine I Think it might just be my Sinuses Draining a little. I don’t Know what to do!

Who did you tell at first
Erik, I know exactly how you feel. I started a Diet at the first of the year. I went Jan. thru Feb. on a strict low calorie diet and only Lost 10 Lbs. This might sound good but I was Over 400lbs and was starving myself. I have always been Big but I could lose the weight when I wanted to but I would always Gain it back. My Father was the first to suggest looking into the Band. He brought it up a few years ago and I told him that I didn’t need It I could do it on my own. It was all about will power. This Past April I started looking into the band as a favor to my dad, after reading a bunch of material I decided to go to a seminar. The whole Time I felt like I had given up, that I was letting my weight beat me, that I wasn’t strong enough to do this on my own. What changed this for me is when I talked to my Best Friend from high school. I was the Best Man at his wedding and we talk a few times a month and see each other a few times a year. He told me that the Last time he saw me he wanted to ask why I hadn’t looked it to a surgery. Now After going through the whole process and getting ready to have surgery Monday, I see that it isn’t really “waving the white flag” it is more like calling in reinforcements. The Band isn’t going to make me lose weight but it is going to be that little bit extra that is going to help my on the way to a better and healthier life. Biggie

Any September 2010 bandsters to be out there?
Piper, It is good to see you doing to well. I hope Mine goes that smooth. I have had two Surgeries in the past, where I have been put to sleep. I had All Four of my Wisdom Teeth Removed and also have had my Gall Bladder Removed. In both cases I got along better than most people I know that have had the surgeries done. I am hoping for the same thing this time. My tolerance for Pain is high and I really do feel better when I get out and about. My Softball Team has a Game the night of My Surgery and Depending on What Time I get back and If i can nap in the afternoon, I am hoping to go out and watch the game. If not Monday Night then maybe Tuesday Night. How Tired where you when you got home from the hospital?

High Protein Diet
Give your Dr. a call but I am sure that he isn't going to allow the Fruits. What the Dr. is trying to do is Shrink your Liver. To do this the body needs to be deprived of Carbs and Sugars. Fruit is full of Natural Sugar. Let us know what the Dr. says but this is how mine explained it to me.

High Protein Diet
Yeah, My Dr. has me on a High Protein. No Carb No Sugar Diet. Everyone on here know that No Carbs is impossible but that is just what he said my goal was. I eat a bunch of Meat. Mostly Chicken and Turkey. For being on the go you could always eat some processed Turkey or Ham slices. These aren't as good for you because they do contain some Carbs but most are less than 1 g a slice. There is also I think a Sliced Roast Beef that has No Carbs. I ate this alot. I have been on this diet for almost 2 months. Being a Male and over 400lbs the Dr is making me lose weight before the surgery.

Getting banded on 9/20
After about 5 months of going around in circles my surgery date is coming up quick. I was 440 at my highest weight. Since I am self pay the Surgeon wanted me to lose weight before my surgery. The cost of doing it in the out patient facility was almost half of what it would have cost in the hospital. I have been on a strict high protein, low Carb no sugar diet since July 27th. I have lost a total of 35lbs and need to lose a few more before Monday. I am getting a little nervous about the surgery, and the weeks/years following. I just wonder am i going to miss not being able to eat. I guess time will tell and maybe by then I won't need the food like I feel like I need it now.
