To the short of it all, I was suffering from terrible edema in both of my legs and constantly had sores that I was embarrased about since I had to cover them with bandages. I also could not tie my shoes for work and had to have others help me with this. On top of everything else, I am a professional chef so I am around food all day long. Over the past 18 months I had developled Pre-Diabetes and high blood pressure and was on medication for both. I think the deciding factor for me was the cold fact that my health was deteriorating at an accelerated rate and I was helpless to do anything. I had attended a seminar at my local hospital, which coinsidentally has the only bariatic clinic in the area, on both lap-band and gastiric bypass. At the end, I had made my mind up on lap band and pursued it with the help of my HMO doctor and the clininc. By Sept of this year I had my suregery and am now on my way to a new life.
