  1. Hi. I also have Tricare and hoping I will be approved. My surgeon seems to be very confident that I will. My BMI is also 40 and I have no co-morbids. I should know by the end of this week, or early next week. I'll let you know.
  2. I have it and love it! I love that it's non-hormonal and I don't have to worry about taking a pill everyday. The only side effects I had were really bad menstrual cramps for the first few months. I didn't change my period. I still have a light period.
  3. I met with my surgeon again on Wednesday. She was very happy with my psych eval, and my appt with the nutritionist. I've lost 6 pounds since my appointment with the nutritionist. Anyway, she said she would now submit my paperwork for approval to Tricare. My BMI at my first appt was 41. Now with my weight loss it's 39/40 ish. I think she's submitting the 41 BMI weight. I have no co morbilities. She said I should have no problem getting approval because my BMI is 40. Anyone else share their experience with Tricare? My surgery date is set (tentative) for December 16.
  4. I should be getting banded in December if everything goes as plan. Hoping for the second week of December.
  5. I had my first consult today with Dr. Olson at La Jolla Surgical Associates. It went great! She says I should have no trouble getting my approval through Tricare as my BMI is 41. Has anyone had surgery with Dr. Olson? If so, what are your experiences?
  6. Hi, I need recommendation for a surgeon that takes Tricare in San Diego? I've had two appointments that have been fails because of bad paperwork from Tricare. Anyone know of a good surgeon? Thanks
  7. About two weeks ago I met with my PCM and we talked about Lap-Band. She submitted paperwork and so far Tricare has approved a consult with a surgeon. I'm 5'3'' (sometimes they say 5'4'') and about 232-236 pounds. I don't have high BP or diabetes but I have carpel tunnel, knee and back pain. Also very large breast. Do you think I'll get approved? Can anyone offer some pointers and what to do before my consult? Thanks!
  8. Thank you all for your responses. I go in on Tuesday to see my PCM. I know she'll give me a referral and hopefully things go smoothly from there. If not, I won't give up and keep trying. I don't know where I'll have it done when I qualify. I'm in San Diego. Does anyone have any recommendations?
  9. My BMI is between 39-40 depending on my weight that day. That said, I'm not too sure if I have co-morbidities. I don't have diabetes or hypertension. Like I mentioned before, I do have large breast causing bad back pain and rashes. Also have carpal tunnel. I have a civilian PCM but do live near a large MTF (San Diego).
  10. Hi, I wondering if anyone knows if Tricare would qualify me for a lapband? I'm 5'3'' and about 234 pounds. I do have very large breast that are causing back pains and bad rashes. Also have carpel tunnel. Thanks. I'm really trying to get qualified as I've had weight issues my entire life but after having my twins, it got worst.
