    South Beach Diet Bandsters???

Hey all, I did much better yesterday. I ate a lot more Protein and I am on my way to the store today to get stuff for the week that will make it easy on me. I do better on the weekend when I am not rushed for time. Today's goal: 64+ oz Water, 1800 calories or less & exercise!

Heart Rate Monitors and cardio workout

I think the problem with the Garmin comes when people run under trees or where the satellite can't find the GPS unit. The Polar uses different technology. But I do know quite a few runners/bikers who use the Garmin too.

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

Deckedout and Audree those are really great tips. I am going to go shopping in a different way. I never thought about the oatmeal in a styrofoam cup but that would be perfect in the morning for me. Some stuff that is band friendly and easy is so carbohydrate laden it isn't worth it... so having the high protein stuff like string cheese and cottage cheese really helps. I am going on my weekly shopping this weekend and I am glad I have some new ideas. I had a tough time this week. I was tired all week and ran late all week. If I start off in the morning wrong it seems to mess me up all day.

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

Hey everyone, Hope all are having a good day. Julestwu, I hope you had fun at that spinning class... what a workout! Dianels, welcome to lower BMI bandsters. So what happened? Do you know why your stomach stretched out? What does the unfill do in terms of your stretched out stomach? I weighed in today and didn't gain or lose from last week. Frankly, after a couple of the days I had, I will take it and not complain. I am eating too much to lose weight but I am not being a pig. I am eating about 2000 calories a day it seems. I have also found that I cannot tolerate any type of bread or tortilla. The longer I am into the band, the less I tolerate it. Even one bite and I am like urggghhhh and it doesn't matter what time it is either. It isn't like I am trying to mess up or do something wrong. I just notice that I am 75% of the time eating on the go, so I think a sandwich would be really convenient, or a wrap. I think I may buy some lettuce and make lettuce wraps instead. I just thought of that today. Does anyone have any good ideas about "on the go food" that would be appropriate for a bandster? A single bandster who barely knows how to use a microwave, much less cook?

Heart Rate Monitors and cardio workout

Jachut, I know a ton of people who have the Garmin and love it. I think that thing will actually map out your route on the computer using the GPS. I will say my one complaint about the Polar is that it isn't exactly the easiest thing in the world to program. Just recently I have started slowing down to keep my HR lower and I am amazed at how much better I feel when I work out. Jachut, I am trying to get up into your distances on the running this year and I know I wouldn't be able to the way I had been training.

I totally agree with you about the HRM. I have a Polar 625sx. I do a lot of outside stuff and it has a computer that attaches to my shoe to tell me how far and how fast I am going. It also has a computer that attaches to my bike to tell me how far, how fast and how many rpms I am doing. It is great. Plus of course it works inside when you want to watch your HR on the machines at the gym. I also love downloading all of my information and tracking it on the computer. I am a gadget geek though, so this kind of thing is right up my alley. You don't have to spend a ton of money on a HRM but it gives you instant feedback in terms of whether you are staying within your targeted HR range. Like you, I find it really motivating Notsobigguy

    South Beach Diet Bandsters???

Alright Audree, I am going on my treadmill. Just walking for me today... I am not released from my Lasik surgery yet to jog... but I am going to walk away tonight. It is rainy and gross here. Thank goodness for the dreadmill.

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

Well I am doing a little bit better today on eating. I feel like I am pigging out but when I add up my calories I am below 2000 calories. Normally when I pig out I would be eating 4000 calories. I don't want to eat to the point that I am totally stuffed though which is what I have been doing this whole week. I am eating less but I don't think I am changing my mental habits very well this week.

    South Beach Diet Bandsters???

Yes, I seem to have the most trouble in the mornings. It is hard for me to make enough time for myself to eat right in the morning. And if I get off on a wrong foot it seems to make the rest of the day difficult. My goals for today: Eat a good breakfast Drink 64 oz H20 Eat less than 2000 calories Walk on treadmill

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

Hey guys, How is everyone doing today? I had a bunch of carb cravings today and yesterday so I am feeling a little discouraged. I haven't made that great of choices this week so I went ahead and made my fill appointment for February 23rd. I signed up for an 8k race in 2 weeks. I think I am going to try to do an event a month to keep myself on the workout track. I don't have to do well but I want to stay motivated. I can't work out until Saturday because of the Lasik and I think that makes me grouchy.

    South Beach Diet Bandsters???

Hey guys, I have been doing not so great the last two days. Haven't been keeping track and I haven't been doing good either. I have been craving carbs, and eating them. I am still eating less but I am not making good food choices. I did call and schedule my fill for February 23. The last two days I feel like I am getting closer to being an overeater. So tomorrow I am going to get back on track again.

    Band problem, need feedback

Mark, I am on regular food now, and am not yet at a fill but I know exactly what you mean about not missing things you used to love. It is VERY weird. But VERY good.

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

Hi Audree, <y goal today is to eat around 1500 - 1800 calories today. My other goal is to walk on my treadmill while watching tv - no sweating for me because of the eye surgery. My third goal is to drink 64 oz of water too. I have been bad the last couple of days. My mantra for 2007 is consistency, consistency, consistency. I want to consistently eat better, exercise and drink water.
  21. ser123

    Already discouraged!

I totally agree with this. Impatiently stamping my feet into a perfectionist tantrum is how I have gained a lot of my weight. Changing fathink is a lot harder than changing food habits.

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

There was a class I only heard about (but no way would I dare to go to it) at my gym at 6 am called boot camp. If you were late, or missed, then the class got punished because of you. If I would have been in that class, the other people would have set my car on fire or something. I hope you rock that dress tomorrow Deckedout!

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

I hear you. I like to have something to look forward to so I am doing all the exercise for a reason. I like to exercise but if I am just going to go, then it doesn't seem important.

    South Beach Diet Bandsters???

I ate 1835 calories, 76 grams Protein, 266 grams of carbs, 57 grams of fat today... which is 16% protein, 57% carbs and 27% fat No gym today because I am still on restrictions from Lasik surgery. I am wanting to participate in a 5k this weekend but not sure if I will be cleared by that time.

Yes, everyone said it would be sooooo easy, but I sure didn't think so. My sister was surprised I had trouble with the eye stuff. I am not, since I am a HUGE baby when I go to the dentist. Anything around my face freaks me right out.
