I'm so very optimistic about the new year. Although I do feel somewhat selfish. Everything lately has seemed to be me me me. That will change though as I'm able to do more. On being able to "do more". I'm dissappointed that I'm still having pain in the one area just below my left breast. If I move or stretch the wrong way, it seems like someone has stabbed me with a hot knife. If it were not for that area, I would be close to 100% I feel certain. Now, I've found a "hard" area under the largest incision. Could that be my port that high and centered? Do I just have too much time on my hands laying around trying to not overdo it? Or maybe just being paranoid? Tomorrow the weight loss center offices open back up and I'll be calling them first thing. I've got to get going so I can get back to work.
  2. Hey Y'all, as some of you know my surgery was this past Wednesday, was home by 9:00 pm. Been doing fairly well considering. I'm worried about an area that's swollen though. Just below and a little to the right of my left breast. There is NO incision there but there is one about an inch below where the swelling is. I tried to call the surgery center # that they sent home with me but know answer. I've been laying with a cold pack on the entire surgery area. Kinda concerned, any thoughts? I've followed instructions to a tee other than maybe not getting as much protien as recommended.

    December Bandsters

Hey everybody, Just wanted to log on and say Happy New Year (& new you) to everyone. Having a few closest friends over this evening and I told them to bring whatever they wanted to eat and drink that they wouldn't like my pureed peaches, apricots and plums...lol. Wish you ALL the very best for 2007! Wanted to pass along a little nsv that happened today at church. Three different folks stopped me to say how "well" I looked...lol...Even our Interpreter for the hearing impaired stopped me...she started telling me how she had always been heavy and that she wanted to talk to me more about the lap band...I told her about this site and y'all...

    Wow

Well, it's been an exciting week! Kids all HOME for Christmas (youngest has a new BF...sweetie) I had prepared some things ahead and frozen and the extended family came over for breakfast Christmas morning. By the time everyone left around noon, I was pretty tired and "hit the couch". Today is one week and a day out from surgery, and I'm feeling great. With the exception of one incision area, having no other pain. Still getting a lot of lower stomach gass pain/pressure that the gas-x doesn't seem to help. Called the surgeons office and he said the pain in the area that I'm having it is "normal". Something about that being the area where he had to spend the most time. Food today, A.M. 1/2 c. cream of wheat w/splenda and 3 Tbsp. spiced apple sauce 1 c. V-8 juice 20 oz water P.M. 1/2 c. oj 1 c. cheesie potatoe soup 20 oz water EAS Advant-edge French Vanilla 1 cup lf. peach yougurt

Hello and Happy New You to all my fellow December bandsters. Well I'm exactly 1 week post-op today and on cloud nine. Before showering this morning I just had to do it....stepped on the scales...Day of surgery (the 20th) was at 235...this morning 221!!!! Wish they had a smilie on here that was turning sumersaults and doing flips...cause that's exactly how it feels. Also, getting to make some of that wonderful sounding runny cream of wheat. woo hoo!

Less than 24 hours after surgery

Didn't get to leave the hospital till after 8 pm due to the fact that I couln't pee. Well, after 3 iv's and 5 or more cups of water/chipped ice and a grape juice I was finally able to go...didn't completely empty though. Well that happened during the night. Was up 6 times during the night to go. My precious baby girl (19 almost 20) took care of me and slept on the other couch across from me. Every time I got up, she was up checking on me and helping me up. Even with the phenergan sup. lol. Some gas pain this a.m. but taking chewable gasX. Trying to stay up as much as possible to get it to pass if that's truly what it is

    new here--just banded

Hi Beth and welcome, I'm a 12/20 bandser also!...right there with you on the gas pain. Haven't had to take the vicoden all day, but have used tons of gasx strips and chewables...good luck...
  12. Hi Amy and welcome to the most wonderful support group in the world. I'm a fellow horse person and was banded 2 days ago. It has been so embarassing as my weight continued to climb and I couldn't climb on my horse without someone holding the saddle in place on the opposite side. But those days will soon be over. Keep us all posted and good luck!

    2 days since surgery

Hi All...be sure you follow you drs. instructions. It really is funny how each dr. is different. Mine has me on liquids a full 7 days, then to "full" liquids like carnation instant breakfast, the protien shakes, yougurt and such. Hey by the way, mix a cup of peack yougurt into an EAS advant-edge French Vanilla, really yummy...Good luck all

    Too much liquid?

Thanks for the replies. Yvette, yes I did use Dr. Land. He is very soft spoken and on the quiet side. When the nurses had me almost prepped and ready he came in and was "all business". He did answer my questions. My surgery lasted almost 2 hours, and I was kinda surprised at that. But, if it took that for my wounds to look as good as they do...no problems. He used only glue to close me back up and although I bruise very easily, I have very little bruising. I've also had nearly no gas pains! He prescribed liquid Vicoden and that's worked well. I was up a lot yesterday and think I over did it a little bit. Slept through the entire night last night and just wore up about an hour ago, so I'm really sore this a.m. The folks at Memorial are angels in people clothing They were so sweet and kind to me and my family. Hope this helps and keep in touch either on here or you can email me at meadowviewstbl@aol.com
  15. Hey guys, I'm 24 hours out of the hospital and feel like I may have over done it. Can you take in too much liquid? In about an hours time I've had 3/4 cup mixed veggie/chicken broth 4 ounces grape juice and a banana popsicle...all the liquid goes right through right? I'm feeling very full.

    December Bandsters

Hey Y'alll. One fifteen the morning after. Had to stay at hosp. till 8:00 ish due to the fact that I couldn't pee. Finally half way through the 3rd IV bag, success! Had a "wretch/gas" episode a couple of hours after arriving home. My sweet 19 year old daughter has been my wonderful nurse, even to the extent of my phenergan suppository...LOL. I told her she was paying me back for all those times I dr'd, cared for her. liquid Vicoden working well. Very little gas pain so far. Surgeon did great job with glue only, but my surgery lasted right at 2 hours. Welcome Kirsten and Carol! willl be thinking about you today and say a little prayer for you also. Discovered a clear liquid treat, SF Spiced Cider Appple flavor drink mix, by Alpine for Krusteaz. Just add 6-8 oz. hot Water. Sweet dreams all. Love Kathy :notagree :notagree :notagree

:nervous Y'all keep me in your thoughts and prayers:) ....I asked my surgeon for something to help me sleep these few days before surgery, Have woke up about every hour it seems like...and the office called in a RX for 1 (one) ,yep, that's right 1 valium to take the night before surgery...lolI hope that's no indication of how he doles out pain meds...I'm a firm believer in the miracles of modern medice. Oh well all you you ladies hang in there and thanks so much for the words of encouragement!

    Update

I had all my pre-testing done Friday afternoon the 8th and was running a low grade fever. I'm recovering from a bout with bronchitis and not completely over it evidently. My PCP put me on 2 different inhalers. Her comment when she came back in the room after checking my chest x-rays was..."Well, there's good news and bad news...the good news is, it's not pneumonia, the bad news is, if your not significantly better by Monday (the 11th), you need to contact your surgeon :phanvan. Anyway, that's where I am today, and kinda bummed out. However, I know it's definetly for the best as far as my health, don't want to take any chances! :update: UPDATE: Surgery Rescheduled for DEC 20! 11:00 a.m. Have found another lap band patient and 2 rny bypass patients at my Church!!!! Back on the liquids and down to 234!....Thanks for all y'alls kind words and encouragement! By the way, on a scale of 1 to 10, how BAD is the pain after surgery?.. such a wimp here, I'm all for the miracles of medication....
