    Thank you.
Just got home I don't even want to look at food. LOL
I feel raw and my stomach is gurgling so bad. I guess all that air I was trapping in there as well is moving around.
As soon as it was loosened I felt it drop into my stomach. Kinda gross feeling lol
She took out all 4.5 cc s and put back in 3 until Monday or Tuesday.
    Thanks again everyone.

Thanks Terry I'm sleeping at an incline at the moment to try & prevent which is not the most comfortable. I didn't eat or drink for 3 hours before going to bed last night & all was good although didn't lie flat. I will speak to my bariatric nurse & get her advice. Thanks

if you suddenly got the acid reflux you need to have a barium swallow to make sure your band is in place. if it is, than the treatment is drugs, not eating or drinking right before bed. my doctor had it 4 hours before bedtime and to sleep with a incline. but call your doctor, reflux can be affecting your esophagus.

@@gail10 glad to hear from some one else with the jaw thing -- I rarely have any acid reflux issues but if I do I discover that first because my jaw and teeth are hurting. Weird!

I have acid reflux if I eat too close to when I sleep. It will wake me up almost like vomit in my mouth. It burns my lungs. I did not have this before my surgery. I just make sure that I don't eat at least two hours before I go to sleep and that prevents it from happening. It also helps keep me from late night snacking- LOL.

    I had that problem....severe.....
I found not to eat anything close to going to bed...I made it a personal rule not to eat after 7pm....
In my case, no more reflux.

gail10 reacted to B-52 in Rules for lapband...trying to get back on the wagon
What kind of shape is your band in? Any restriction?
I ask for this reason....I was taught the "Rules" even before I had surgery....at that time they made very little practicable sense...unless I was dieting and therefore did not need surgery in the first place.
The staff assured me that one day, after my band gets adjusted, I would THEN need to know the rules by heart in order to not experience any problems...so it was best to start learning them now.
    Example...
I was taught to take small bites, I think it was as small as your fingernail.....put the fork down in-between bites, and chew thoroughly...(can't remember for how long a time period), and do not drink while eating....
That was one rule...and it made little sense to me at first.....HOWEVER, once my band got properly adjusted, it became the ONLY way I can eat....and I still have to follow that rule to this day if I want to get through a meal....Small bites, take my time and chew thoroughly, put the fork down, and NEVER drink with my meals....if I do not do these things, or close to it, it will result in getting stuck...having the food come back up....and possibly experiencing pain.....
Oh, and another rule that goes with the above...come 20-30 minutes and I'm finished with my meal.....I'm taking my time eating following the first rule, but I must stop within a time frame otherwise I could take my time and eat all day...(Graze)
Third, when starting a meal, go with the Protein first before moving onto the other things on your plate....this became very practicable because sometimes after I've eaten the protein, I cannot continue with anything else on my plate....It would not be wise to do it in reverse...start with the mashed potatoes and never getting to the protein.
I've read here people applying the rules 2 ways, one is to use them as if on any diet to loose weight, and the other is to use them in order to follow a new lifestyle with the band. I am the latter.
I don't have to remind myself to eat this way anymore, it is a new habit that has become part of me....eat too fast or too large a bite and the band will let me know for sure!!!
Then there are other things I must do if I want to stay healthy....8-8oz glasses of Water per day, 60-70 gms of protein per day,....vitamins,....and exercise.
I've also learned what types of foods are band friendly....mostly due to texture and how well they break down when chewed....and because of this I have decided to avoid certain foods all together...
It also turns out these foods are not that good for me in the first place.

My very, very best wishes and sympathy. I can empathise a bit as my father died when I was 13 and my mother when I was 33. But it is different for everyone and so I can only guess how you feel.
Take with you the thought that his last feelings were pride in your achievement.

All this sounds horrific.......I have a band, was fitted in 2010 it's been empty since 2013 but I recently started getting fills again......seems to be going ok but after reading this I'm not too sure I would know if it's ok or not ????????

Yes, Gail10, it's daunting. If I get any answers that may help you, I'll post them here.
Meanwhile, don't let them give you too much of a fill. Throwing up is not good for your gastro-intestinal tract, aside from being very uncomfortable. Just follow the food and drink instructions to the word. That is all in your best interest and you'll be doing all you can do that is within your control.
We cannot control the adhesions or scar tissue, or inflammation that the band may cause in some people.
Just so you know, a woman who had her band placed on the same day and by the same surgeon as I did in 2011 got her band revised to the sleeve last July, with no problems whatsoever and in a single surgery. Each of our bodies are different.

I see the majority of people posting on this topic are "Gastric Sleeve" people.
Gee, I need to start visiting that group....The Lap Band section gets a little boring compared to this.....
Wait, I think I just insulted two groups?
Seriously, it's a big world out there with countless persuasions of people...and the Internet is tapped right into it....so signing onto a public "World Wide" forum......you expect, what?
Take the good, spit out the bad.....just like life itself....
I've been posting here for over 4 years....but does anybody really know me?
Am I legit? Are YOU legit! I'm have no idea. But I do know myself, and I can only pay attention to things that relate to me.....
If that makes any sence.........BTW, this forum is tame compared to some other forums I belong to.....

gail10 reacted to Keeper in I think I just might be at green!
I had my 5th fill (they have all been slow and incremental - slow and steady) last Thursday, and I think I can say with authority *this* time that I think I am at green! :-) I didn't lose a pound this past month. I was frustrated, especially after feeling so great initially, but I can say this. Yes, you (I) do get hungry, but comparing today to last month is night and day. I've never been a Breakfast eater so depending on what time I get up my first meal would generally be around 10. Today I don't think i ate until noon. And I am just now sort of getting hungry, but I know i will be cooking dinner soon. In the past I would have run for a snack, but right now I am like, "meh. I can probably wait." That feels amazing!!

    (Re-printed from my Surgeon's website)
    1. Your co-worker heard a strange noise and doesn’t bat an eye…knowing it was your stomach.
Patients often ask me why their new pouch makes odd gurgling noises. It could be too big of bites or eating too quickly. It could also just be your stomach moving around and making noises for all to hear
    2. You have a space heater under your desk in the middle of July.
It may be in part to losing some “insulation” but many postop wls patients are colder than they’ve ever been using more blankets at night and space heaters to keep warm.
    3. Your alarm just went off for the third time today to remember your next Vitamin.< /b>
While bariatric Vitamins have become much more simpler in recent years, it still takes reminders to get in your vitamins. Your family might even hear the alarm and hand you your calcium!
    4. Protein is always first on your mind at your meals – it might as well be plastered inside your forehead.
Protein…protein..where’s the protein? Protein is what fills you up and keeps you full! You get the most out of your surgery when you focus on lean and solid protein sources.
    5. Your waitress keeps asking if the food is okay. And if you’re sure you don’t want a drink.
When you can only eat an ounce or so, the wait staff may think something is wrong with the food. And what do you mean you don’t want anything to drink??
    6. Your pants are barely holding on but you’re still holding off to go shopping.
Just make sure you don’t carry a heavy object and walk up a flight of stairs. At least not around anyone
    7. Speaking of shopping, you still go to the plus sized section first out of habit.
It’s hard to wrap your mind around your new body. Leave plenty of time and stay patient with yourself as you find out what size your body is. Take a good friend to be your “runner” and someone to talk it out with.
    8. You get overjoyed at the release of a new Protein Bar flavor…or a sale on your favorite Protein Bars.< /strong>
Quest® has a new flavor?!?!??! Ahhhhh!!!!!!
    9. You rejoice at the small things like crossing your legs or getting a pair of boots that zip up your calves.
Some things you’ll never take for granted again. It may seem like nothing to others, but to you it’s something big.
    10. You use lingo like “wls”…”bariatric friendly”…”pouch”…”vsg”…
You gotta know the lingo to be in the club!
    11. You smile as you think of how far you’ve come and get excited to think of where you’ll be soon.
Patients wonder why they didn’t have their surgery sooner.
