Don't worry about the GB folks! They all say the same thing in the gorup I attend and think that you're crazy for even considering the LB. I met some ladies last week at group and they are all bandies and are losing great. Yess it is slower but it gives your body a chance to get use to the weightloss and your skin a chance to catch up with you. We all will have some excess skin but possibly we won't have as much as them. :clap2: My surgeon said I made a wise choice for "me" and ay my psych eval she even suggested that the LB would be better for me. I'm going with the dr.'s suggestion which is what I wanted anyway.

Most GNC's carrie the ISOpure. You may have to have them order some for you. The one near me has it and they also keep some in the frige so you can just pop if open right there.

I must have the best doctor. He has taken such good care of me. We/I in pre-op class were given a list of thing to get. Chewable children vitamins with iron is what was suggested. B-12 for under the tongue and they are sending me home with liquid iron. There is a web-site www.bariatriceating.com where everything is made just for R-N-Y and banded. I also read the book by Susan Maria Leach which was very good and it had good recipes in it as well! The site directs you to other bariatric products. They even have Sugar free syrup that is thick enough to make pecan pies with, splenda sweetened cocktail mixes, gourmet cooking sauces, etc. And ther is lots of info there. It is geared for R-N-Y but we can follow the same guidelines. You can find all chewable vitamins there also.

I've been practicing taking small bites and chewing, chewing, chewing. My dr. suggested that all his patients purchase baby spoons and use shrimp forks that way we'll be forced to take smaller bites of food. Just a suggestion for the smaller bites and slow us down. :hungry:

Speaking of panties!!! I can't wait until I can shop at Victoria Secret!!! It will be the first time for me.

Thanks for the encouragement. The jury is still out on my DH. We land problems loooong before this. As long as he keeps paying the mortgage I'm not worried. I have very supportive friends and my band buddies both on-line and in group.

Also, Sam's, GNC, on line I foud this great site vitamake.com and they have great prices. I purchased some "Any Whey Protein" that is tasteless and can be put in anything. You can even bake with it!!! I purchased the 2lb size and it was $13.95 plus shipping. Other places and sites sell it the 1 lb size for the same amount. Try there. :hungry:

Thanks! I think I'll go and buy a can. I saw it at Sam's by the case and a lady there said she and her sister liked it. I was at GNC yesterday and they had a bogo 1/2 off and with the discount card an extra 20%. I think I'll just go out shopping now.

Hey Chica, we are going to be band twins. We have the same surgery date. I looked on my pre-op instructions and it said in big letters "NO BIG MEAL THE DAY BEFORE!!!!!!!!!!" :hungry: Soooo I guess that means go very lite. I'm going to do a semi liquid diet 3 days before to be on the safe side. Have a great day.

Julie, do you live in San Jose? I was born and raised in Oakland, my mother and most of my family live in San Jose now. I visit at least once a yr. I now live in St. Louis.

Don't sweat my pet!! My dr told me yeserday that one of the reasons you have the pre-op diet is to shrink your liver and you can be three days before surgery and it will make a difference. Just start back and do everything by the letter and hopefully everything will be ok. Jennifer

That question came up in my pre-op class yesterday. My booklet says: "Deficiencies in Vitamin A lead to night blindness, kidney stones, mild skin problems, and inflamed mucous membranes. Since Vitamin A is a fat soluble vitmin and excess intke can also be hazardous. Symptons of excessive intake inlude loss of appetite, dry skin, hair loss, headaches, and neasuea." There is a Supplement you can get, I think at GNC, called Hair, Nails & skin I am taking one I got from Wal-Mart by rexall called EXTREME Biotin 1500 MCG. and it says on the front "promotes skin, hair & nail health" perhaps this will help. I don't have a band yet but I started taking it and skin and hair looks better and is growing.

I'm sorry some of you are not getting the support you deserve from your DH's. That breaks my heart. I am quite sure they don't understand a damn thing about what it's like to be us. I wish you girls the very best luck of all and I hope that our support is enough for you for now. We all understand everything. Thanks Terry! In my pre-op class today someone told me I was beautiful and for what-ever reason I was embarrassed. I guess I just don't think of myself that way. But it sure made me feel real good!
