Going For It Again in 2010
I got banded in 06. Did pretty good for 2 years..then my band was too tight. Had trouble at night waking up coughing on thick saliva. Went in and my eshopagus was swollen, so I went without a fill for quite awhile. I also learned how to beat the band , eating the wrong foods . I was scared of getting a fill cause I didn't want it too tight. Gained 20lbs back...sucks. just got a fill perfect restriction and I'm back on track. Anyway the point is..the band is only gonna work if you really want it to. There is so many ways to go around the band with ice cream and junk food etc. I just slapped myself and said enough is enough..I paid cash for my band and that's alot of money to just throw away. I'm gonna go for it and use the band and do it right this time. Good luck to you bandsters ..you can do it too!!

Constant Mucus and Saliva Production
I was having the same problem. My band was way too tight. Be careful, I let it go for awhile. The doc had to take all my fill out cause me esophagus is swollen. It's been a month and I can't stand not having any restriction but then again I'm enjoying my import beers that I can't have usually. Seriously I know it's scary waking up choking. Get some fill out, it will help. Kelley

Getting tighter, gurgling, reflux and regurgitation at night. HELP!
I had my last fill at the end of jan 08. Everything was fine until end of march into april. Then I started getting such bad problems at night. Choking on thick saliva and coughing all hours of the night. But it was weird it didn't happen all the time. I went to the doc and had a barium swallow. Nothing was getting through the band. So my esophagus is swelled above the band. He took all the fluid out of the band to let my insides calm down. It's been over a month without the band. I go back june 4 to get a fill. Hopefully all will be well. I'm praying I didn't screw up my band. Just know that coughing up all the time and spitting up food all the time can screw up your insides and possibly mess up the band. Good luck and please get checked if you have bad reflux. Kelley:thumbup: Just

question about regurgitating....
I was just hoping to find someone else that has gone through this. It is just weird and scary to wake up choking on water and saliva. It's not vomit at all. I cough alot, also when this happens. Still love my band tho. Just wanting to understand why this happens.

question about regurgitating....
I have the same problem with fluid coming out of my nose and mouth at night. It's weird cause I will be in a deep sleep and I will wake up choking on all this fluid coming out. It happens probably 2 to 3 times a week . I don't know what causes it and why. But I choke and cough every time it happens. Not alot of fun, is it.

PBing at night
Hi, I just had liqued removed cause I was overfilled too. My problem now is that I can't get a decent amount of sleep either. I'm constantly waking up from coughing and coughing up lots of saliva. My throat is raw from coughing all night. I'm gonna try not to drink or eat for 3 hours before bedtime to see if that helps.....I thought I was alone in this..I'm not. I'm hoping my band hasn't slipped cause I am a self pay. Keep posting if u find a solution or why this is happening , me know PLEASE!!

Splenda and gas pains
I was using sugar substitutes in my coffee. I had terrible acid reflux. I switched to sugar and it went away. Could be a coincidence but 2 tsp of sugar a day in my coffee is better than all the chemicals of the other stuff.

Does anyone get B12 shots?
I take 5 hour energy. Its sold at mini marts and gas stations. Its just a massive dose of B vitamins. Just like a shot of B . I love it and it works well for me.

I am having great trouble getting food and fluids in, i need some help please
I know how you feel about being too tight. It's a terrible feeling. I was so tight that I couldn't even get water down. I was like that for 3 days and my urine was getting darker and darker, which means i was getting dehydrated. I was told to drink 2 tbs. of soup base every hour until I could get an unfil. I feel your pain. Besides being too tight you are most likely swollen too. Get an unfil and start all over. It's scary to go through but I made it and so can u get over this hurdle.

Reflux Poll
:oI feel the same way as you. I have problems at night too. I will be dead asleep and this stuff just comes pouring out of my throat and nose and I sometimes gag. I know it is gross and its just clear liqued but it scares me. It just started with me after I got my last fill. I didn't know that it's called reflux. I also have the burning throat thing too. I know my band is a little too tight but I figured it would loosen up like the other fills. I can handle the liqued and mushie diet cause it really kickstarted my weight loss again. But the waking up to clear your nose and throat so u can breathe is a little unnerving.

Still Left Out
Heck ya. I'm still in my same pants size since my surgery (nov 10 06) . Although they are finally looser. I'm a slow loser but I'm not gonna stress on it. I'm down 33 lbs so far now. It's a 2 year process and I figure once it's gone it's not coming back. Least that's what I'm hoping for.

Slow Losers - Unite!
I am a slow loser too. I was so tired of everybody asking me how much have I lost ? I was bummed cause i haven't lost much. So I just gave up on weighing myself. Just follow the rules and don't stress on losing. It's gonna happen. I was stalled at 23lbs for months now I'm at 33 lost. It's a 2 year process. Dont be discouraged.

Still Left Out
I survived on apple juice and chic broth the first weeks. Boy, the next 2 weeks cream soups tasted so good. Where r u getting the surgery done? I'm excited for you. I'm a slow loser, I had the surgery in Mexico in Nov 06. I'm only down 30 lbs but I'm fine with that. Good Luck to you . Keep us posted.................Kelley

$$$ ???
I went to Monterrey Mexico for my band. I was comfortable there. I took a friend who spoke spanish. The only issue I had was the nurses didn't speak any english. Take a translation book if u go alone. The doc and his assistant spoke english so there wasn't any problems there. Everyone was very pleasant and I would take my daughter there if she wanted a band.
