  1. Hi Tammy, Don't worry about what your friend says. If you are like me, you've already tried all the diets-lost weight- stoppped diet and gained back even more. I have a friend who had a gastric bypass and lost alot of weight fast. She warned me that some people who you think are friends and should support you do exactly the opposite. She was amazed at how mean spirted some of these so-called friends were. Maybe jealousy who knows. Lap banders lose weight much slower than the other surgeries , so it's much healthier. Go For It!!! Have a Great New Year!!
  2. Hi Theresa, Just wanted to say HI. I've been banded since Nov 06. I'm only down 13 lbs. Congats on losing 30lbs. Great Job. Yes, I love my band too. I'm having my 2nd fill jan 4. Not much restriction happening for me yet. I still am happy to be losing and not gaining especially over the holidays. Keep up the good work and oh yeah...HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
  3. Yep, 2 days out of surgery was the worst for me. The gas pains in the chest were bad, but walking around helped me alot. Hang in there it does get better.
  4. What I like about the band is that you can still eat most anything u want. Just ALOT less. I am still new to the band experience(banded nov. 10 06). But when you eat something that doesn't go down right..believe me you don't want it that bad anymore. It's a way too uncomfortable feeling and when you eat too much....OUCH the cramps you get are not nice. It's a way to control ourselves since we can't do it alone. The band will do the work for me. I know I know and exercise too.
  5. :clap2: The one thing i look forward to is going into a regular clothes store, picking out something not from the plus section. I can't wait until I can do that. I just wanted to say how much I get from this site. It's a chance for all of us to get together and inspire the ones who are down or just share our stories. YOU GALS(and TOM )are GREAT!!!
  6. :clap2: Hopefully the RN can give you some ideas about the meds. HOPEFULLY, you will be able to swallow the meds after all. Keep us posted on your surgery date. I have my 2nd fill Jan 4. My surgery date was Nov 10 06. It wasn't so bad, I've only lost 13 lbs-but over the holidays I would have gained for sure/. Slow and steady will be fine for me. Happy New Year!!
  7. I can't do diet pills. I don't like how they make me feel. Be proud, you went down two sizes. Congatulations!!! My positive thought would that I didn't gain weight over the holidays....how many non-banded people can say that??
  8. You might not have to crush the pills, what about just halfing them? I'm able to swallow pills. i guess everyone is different. When is your surgery date?
  9. After my surgery, the first few days i wasn't hungry at all. I craved juice and sipped that and chicken broth. But unfortunatly the appetite does come back. The docs are prepping you pre-op to stick to liqueds so it's easier after surgery. Happy new year all!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Cream of wheat, Tomato soup and cream soups helped me fill up. Try it you'll like it.
  11. When i got my first fill the doc said it's like a primer fill . He said I won't feel much restriction until 2nd or even 3rd fill. It is a slow progression, I'm so impatient to get this weight off. I guess we have to look at it ......It took awhile to put all the excess weight on , so slowly it will come off. :heh:
  12. Where did u get banded? I didn't have to do the pre op liqued diet either. That would seem like the hardest part! I was pretty hungry at your point too. The cream soups really helped me. Just remember you can't eat the same portion size you used to before surgery. If you overeat it is very painful. Good luck and Happy New Year , most importantly Happy New Life!!
  13. I did that too. Not once but twice.....It is painful and the guilt and worry doesn't help. Same worries, did i screw up my band. You know now to not revert back to the same amount you ate before the band. You'll be ok just remember to not eat so much ..........it hurts. Happy new year and new Life
  14. I'm fully recovered from surgery. I'm doing good. I had one fill and not much happened. I get another fill on jan 4 , then i hope to fill some restriction. I didn't have to do the pre op diet, guess i was lucky. The first week after surgery is the toughest after that it's uphill. Good luck and happy new year and happy new life!!
  15. My vote is Mexico. Dr. Javier DeLaGarza and staff were numero uno. The hospital was spotless . Monterrey is a great city. Check out docs credentials on line.
  16. Here's to ya!! I was banded on nov 10, 06. I was so ready to get my band too. It's a solution that actually works and i've tried all the diets and fads. good luck and keep us posted. Kelley
  17. Beth, The gas pains do go away after awhile. I don't have much restriction on my band yet. I didn't have any pre op diet like others had. So far, i'm only down 11 lbs. I think i probably gained some of that back today tho. I go back on Jan 4 for my 2nd fill, hope to feel the resrtiction then. I had 2 incidents that were very painfull. Eating too much, be careful when you get your appetite back. Worse cramps ever.
  18. Hi Serious, Great present to yourself. I went to monterrey and was banded in nov. 06. I paid for the surgery myself also. I'm really excited about the whole process too. It's gonna be s slow process but at least we will be slowly losing instead of slowing gaining which is what i have been doing for years. I started at 224 and at 213 now, slow but sure. Have a merry christmas. Kelley
  19. HI Sirena63, I was banded on nov 10 06 by DeLaGarza in Monterrey too. Great doc and a pleasure to look at too. Where do you live? I live in central Valley in Calif. Did u meet Veronica? Did u deal with Ann Marie, she's a trip. Congrats on your new life journey.......
  20. 5 days ago! Your stomach needs to heal for 6 weeks. Right around the corner is cream soups. That helped me get through the rough patches. Keep tough u can do it! Fat free puddings and cream of wheat helps too. Good luck
  21. Hi, I had my first fill yesterday. I was nervous but it wasn't bad at all. The worst pain was a sting from the novacaine to numb the area. [a whole 10 -15 seconds}. Remember woman can have children if we can deal with that pain, nothing can stop us. I have to go back in 2 weeks for another fill. Doc said first fill is like a primer and you don't fill much restriction until 2nd or 3rd fill. You can do it, have faith!!:biggrin1:
  22. So where u banded on dec 18 or when?
  23. Hi, Can someone tell me how to move the ticker to my own page. I'm confused. I set it up on their site and now what .....:help: please.
  24. I bought a 2006 Honda shadow 600 vlx cause it was half the price of a harley. It's a nice bike. It's a great bike to get re aquinted with riding again. I can't wait to be a little momma instead of big momma on the bike;)
