  1. SUNNYSIDEGA I hear you. . . . . . . I'm in your boat!
  2. Amazing all the lovely Banders out there! Thanks for sharing.
  3. Hi Minnesotans, I found this group several days ago and wondered why it wasn't hopping with activity. We must have a lot of Lap Banders in the area because we have some good bariatric centers available. I love my Band and would not part with it! I used to attend Group Band meetings but they were held 50 miles in distance. Rather far in winter, and I don't know if there are any active now. How would I go about finding out? Or if there are any more being held closer? The lap band path is a rather lonely one but with Lap Band Talk we can find encouragement. Keep pushing!
  4. Welcome to our World of the Banded! Walk, walk & walk and things will improve. Let us hear from you. .
  5. How unlucky to be that one of thousands to have trouble. I pray for you. My band has saved my life. I had it placed by a very good surgeon who had done hundreds of procedures and worked in a teaching hospital. They had nutrition classes and informational seminars plus a long list of preop things my GP had to cover before scheduling my LapBand procedure. This prior workup and education on my part almost guaranteed success. This operation requires a dedicated bariatric center's follow-up required by medicare and my insurance company. The follow-up kept me alert and listening to my body. My morning cup of coffee and visit to lap Band Talk starts my day off on a smooth path. . . . keep in touch . . . we want to help . .
  6. Hi, I'm from West-Central Minnesota. I drove to the Bariatric Center at Abbott NW in September 2006 to have a lap band placed. As I was over 65 my insurance company required me to have my surgery at a hospital that did over 100 operations of this kind during the past year, and gave me the locations of only three in the State that qualified. My surgeon teaches at the U of M and I think there was a student in observation present. They had me go through a long list of tests before I was scheduled. I had to lose 30 pounds on my own before they accepted me also. I attended 3 seminars and several nutritional classes before being okayed. I have never been sorry since and would not think of having it removed. I am a frequent visitor to Lapband.com and visit here each morning with my cup of Java. Greetings to all other Banders from Minnesota!
  7. Welcome to our Banded World. We wish you smooth travels on your road to good health!
  8. Sounds great! Welcome to our Banded World!
  9. Walk, walk & walk. Follow you bariatric center's instructions and fight off the infection. Wishing you a healthy road ahead!
  10. Soon we aren't going to say anything of substance because we may offend someone! If a blog bothers me I just delete it. Everyone has an off day once in awhile.
  11. Welcome to our world of Banders! Listen to your bariatric medical people and use your tool and your path to good health is just ahead!
  12. We welcome you as an active bander on our road to good health. Isn't it amazing what all this extra food has done to those of us who live in the land of plenty? My taste buds have me wanting certain foods I particularly like and if I know they are in the house I'm in trouble. Life can be so complicated. . . We know what to do and we have our great bander tool. Now we must make that great effort to use it correctly! Good traveling, we have our road map. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
  13. Every Patient is different. Every Surgeon is different. Every Bariatric Center is different. Every Nutritionist is different. After listening to all of them I spent much time really listening to my own body! It will reach a quiet zone and really give you signals. (It was almost like the messages from the baby/fetus when I was pregnant) Now I don't hear it again because I'm overeating. I have been on this forum for inspiration to get back on the path again. . . . . .Please don't blog negative, run it all through your own thought process and be positive going on the road to being happy & improving our health.
  14. Welcome to our banding world on the 19th! I joined on September 8th in 2006.
  15. The surgeon has always done my fills. However, when I went in to have all the saline removed so I could have my cancer surgery the next week, his nurse said, "Oh, there probably isn't anything in your band as they all leak!" But there was, as I saw all that he took out. I wish I had reported her, as I'd never had heard of a leak until she made that statement. Now that I am cancer-free I'm having fill put back the first week in October. It is hard to control eating without the assistance of my tool/lapband.
  16. My insurance company requires a follow up on all bands covered by their policies. Can you discuss the problem with your bariatric center that your surgeon represents? I don't understand why you would sue them. . . .
  17. Best wishes to both of you and we'll look forward to welcoming you to our banding world!!
  18. I'm a happy old bander from the great state of Minnesota!
  19. Thinking of you. Welcome to our banding world!
  20. I think I would have liked mine there as I do a lot of gardening and bending I can feel mine move a lot. (Occasionally it gets sore in the bend at my waist.) But last year I had a breast removed because of cancer and my head would have had some awful thoughts about having the band placed and being the cause. Anyway I will say my son had a pacemaker & that is where it is, as it is an out-of-way location. Let us know sometime in the future how you like it. We all wish you the best of using our little tool, and a happy healthy future!
  21. You will do well because you have done your homework and the LapBand is the very best tool! Walk, walk & walk and listen to your bariatric people. Good health & happiness are in your future.
  22. Please turn him in to the state medical board before he kills someone! (Perhaps forward this blog to that board, as this should be part of their duty as member of that prestigious position.) What you have written should make all of us on lapbandtalk.com shutter with concern!
  23. I called my Bariatric Center & made an appointment with my Doctor and the Nutritionist. This will be the first Monday in October. In the interim I will use a few more low-cal lattes and salads for my meals. I'm still not drinking sodas nor eating cake, cookies, brownies or etc. with sugar in content. I'm eating fruit for binges & trying to add more fish, turkey & chicken. The nutritionist will give me more ideas. They should put saline back in my band so hopefully I'll get the "enough" message and cut back on quantity. I'm wishing to find my "zone" again after my visit and the refill. So relieved to be over my cancer surgery and pray that will never reappear! It is not an easy visit to appointment as it is over 200 miles and I have to find a driver for my car, but my friends will be there for me . . . and thank you all for your best wishes!
  24. You are an inspiration in our World of LapBanders! Keep up happy thoughts & walk, walk & walk on the path to good health and a bright future. You will be a Bariatric Doctor's success story.
  25. When the swelling goes down won't it get better? Walk, walk & walk is my suggestion. Welcome to our world of banding!
