    Eating Pizza

I hate to be a party pooper but I would say listen to your surgeon. Your surgeon has intimate knowledge of your stomach, your band and your progress. I would be too scared too go against my doctor's advice. Who knows? I haven't been banded yet, so I might be on here in a couple of months asking the same question, but as of right now, I feel like following your doctor's rules is best - whatever they might be! Best wishes!
  2. Sending you good vibes! Good for you for staying on top of this. I truly hope that you can keep your band. I've had to pack an infection before and it is not fun but keep your chin up and remember that this will pass. A few weeks from now it will be a memory. Best best wishes to you. Keep us posted.

    Help

It seems to me the band is a tool ONLY when it provides some restriction. When it is not providing restriction, it is up to your sheer will and determination to lose weight. I think it might be good to be gentle with yourself and really refocus. You didn't go through two surgeries to end up gaining back the weight you worked hard at losing. I certainly don't think you were suggesting that you thought the band was going to be a miracle. You're clearly not afraid to work hard at losing - you've lost 100 pounds before. I hope your doc can help find a way to get you some restriction and put that tool to work. Best wishes,
  4. Hi, I did a search online in Google for "salt craving" and it looks like there are many reasons why you might be craving salt. It could be dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, adrenal overload or your body could be missing some of the other minerals in table salt. Perhaps see what your doc says. Most of the diagnostics appear to begin with a blood test. Best wishes,

    Wii fit

I tried Wii Fit but was disappointed with some of the workouts. They seemed remedial and I never felt like my heart rate was elevated. HOWEVER - EA ACTIVE is fantastic. Love it and worth every penny. Cheers!
  6. I'm interested. I don't have my date yet but I am in the process with Dr. Machado.

    Oh What To Do???

Why not just reject the box from Nutrisystem when it arrives? They should give you a refund if you don't even accept it (less shipping). Also, that way, you won't have to pay for return shipping. Best wishes,

    Curves???

I went to Curves five days a week for almost a year. Every single person that was there looked exactly the same as they did the first day I started there. I didn't change either. Based on the Runner's World calculator, at my weight, I would have to run 5 miles to burn 600 calories - consider that a fast mile at 10 minutes per mile = 50 minutes of running to burn 600 calories. I can tell you that I am shocked to hear that Curves counters say you can burn 600 calories in a half hour. Not saying it isn't true - just really shocked. Personally, I'd give Curves a skip and opt for walking/running/swimming or a traditional gym setting. Best wishes,
  9. I am so pleased you are doing well. Get a flu shot this year! That should ease your mind! Good for you! Best wishes,

    My band slams shut!!!!

As a daughter who, at 16, ran away from home, stole money from my Dad and his car, said horrible things to my parents, got my stuff together, graduated with a degree in Psychology, went on to law school and have been in practice as an attorney for 8 years - I can tell you - ONE DAY THEY WILL APPRECIATE YOU. I promise. I still cringe when I think of what I put them through. Hang in there!

    Discouragement already?

Hi ashleigh, Perhaps ask your surgeon's office if they can put you on a liquid diet. Maybe call the nutritionist and tell her you've been following all the guidelines. Maybe make a food journal and send it over to her so she can review it and maybe make some suggestions for changes. I know my surgeon offers a liquid diet but she also doesn't require pre-op weight loss as a general rule. Best wishes,

    Just venting

Hi there Machan, Why not talk to your therapist about it? Perhaps he/she can help you come up with a plan or maybe increase the number of sessions you have until you can sort through some of the feelings. I do the same thing, stuff away my feelings with food. I'm in therapy too and I really think that a therapist would understand about emotional eating and help you work through it. Best wishes,

    Crushed...

I'm so sorry to hear that. Whatever you do, do not cancel you current insurance without getting another insurance policy in place. I was denied health insurance due to my weight when I tried to get an individual plan. At the time, I weighed 210 pounds. The insurance carrier suggested I get on my state's high risk waiting list for health insurance and I was told that it could take a year before I get insurance. Having been an insurance adjuster, I can tell you that if there is no coverage on a policy - they will not find coverage. Maybe consider some of the suggestion about Credit Care and/or Mexico? Best of luck,

    How did you do it????

Hi there, I quit by hypnosis. Cold turkey - no cravings for cigarettes at all. It was awesome! Took 3 sessions.
