  1. The Bolthouse Farms ones taste --AMAZING--, but they've got a good bit of sugar (albeit organic cane sugar, but still) I figure it's worth it in the long run though, since I'll actually DRINK these. They have 'em at Target. Try one!
  2. I'm going insane. Four months out and I've lost 65 lbs, which seems reasonable I think? Only problem is my weight hasn't changed since before Christmas! How do I jumpstart this thing? I can't possibly be done losing, can I? I'm fighting back those old familiar feelings of failure. Not fun! Anyone go through this?
  3. haha, oh man the "greatest hits" phase was so freaking awesome for me. I can't even tell you how much sushi I ate. so much. good lord. I still miss it though! I don't know if sticky rice & I will ever get along again, but MANNN. Anyway good luck to you! You're at a point where it's both exciting and totally stressing at the same time. Just be nice to your body, is all I can say. We're really good at being mean to ourselves when all we need is a little support
  4. Ditto to the "one month" suggestions. I was told it could be as soon as 3 weeks but to be very careful. I had about 3 sips of a friend's margarita at the 3wk mark and got SUPER TIPSY, it was pretty funny. Now that I'm a little over 5wks I can handle a small cocktail just fine. I stay away from harsher liquors like tequila and stick with softer stuff like schnapps and Malibu. Malibu cranberry goes down great and tastes even better. All things in moderation though, of course!
  5. Yeah, I wouldn't worry too much, as long as you don't go TOO crazy. I definitely took my opportunity to indulge in all my favorite foods before my surgery. You won't be able to eat a lot of that stuff afterward, and even if you can, only very little. Personally I'm glad I ate a ton of sushi beforehand, cause now I can't go near sticky rice
  6. You don't offend me, but perhaps you misunderstand me. Or maybe "grazing" isn't the proper word. I'm not talking about eating a lot, but rather eating often, as others have described in this thread. Even if I ate all day long, at 3wks out it'd still be impossible to eat even what normal people do. Getting enough in my body IS a concern at this stage of "the game." If you're asking for my reasoning behind getting the surgery, it was largely preventative. I'm only 23 and decided to reign my health and weight in now while they were still manageable-- none of which has to do with an apparently perceived obsession with food. The point of my post was simply to get a gauge of what others are eating, and how often they do so, not to excuse myself into a binge (that, these days, would consist of 2 bites). In other news, I finished an egg this morning- achievement!
  7. I should think so! I'm about 3 weeks out and feeling relatively normal. Everyone is different of course but you should be able to move around just fine. The only thing you might struggle with is your energy level-- be sure to get enough Protein so you can spend the day sightseeing without needing a nap! I'm planning a trip to NY for xmas and I'm hoping all that walking around will do me some real good
  8. I'm at 3 weeks out now and can eat a wide variety of things, albeit only small amounts at a time. What I'm having a problem with now is GRAZING. It's a bad habit from before surgery that I'm afraid will come back to bite me. I find myself making a small plate of food and eating from it over the course of an hour or two. I know you're not really supposed to do that, but without doing it I feel like I'm not eating enough, and with it I worry I eat too much. So, how bad is this? Or am I just trippin' cause I've hit the dreaded 3 wk stall and the scale stopped moving
  9. I had a TON of nausea in the second week-- it was awful! I'd wake up at 3am to vomit bile like you described. Dr. Ortiz's office suggested taking Maalox an hour or so before bedtime, and that made it stop completely. In fact, I haven't been nauseous since. Only problem is I'm afraid to stop the Maalox! I'll probably ween myself off of it in the next week or so though. I hope you find relief, hun! That period of time was definitely a low point for me.
  10. It's different for everyone of course-- the poor girl that had hers removed ahead of me screamed like a banshee. To me it just felt weird and kindof gross, I had a bit of a gag reaction to it. Afterward though-- RELIEF. I could take deep breaths! Euphoria.
  11. Still experiencing this. Had another vomit/dizzy episode at around 5am and ended up dry-heaving since my stomach was totally empty. Called my doc today and he said to try to take a spoonful of malox an hour before bed, so we'll see if that works. I'm getting food down during the day but just not feeling well in general... just sick all the time. Wish me luck! I'm totally regretting my decision right now. It's really rough
  12. I'm totally in this same boat right now, nothing sounds good, nothing tastes good, nothing even SMELLS good. It's kinda hard not to freak out. I know it'll pass but food literally sickens me for the most part and I'd rather just abstain entirely even though I know I can't. I even try to play this game where I imagine if I could eat whatever I wanted, what would be good... And nothing! The scale goes down every day but lately my morale does with it
  13. For the most part things are okay initially, and then they turn on me. For example, cottage cheese was going great and then suddenly it made me super queasy one time and now I can't stand the sight of it. I guess I'm just stuck between holding back out of fear, or pushing forward trying to find balance. A fellow sleever friend thought maybe my body was grossed out by all this mush and I should see if I can handle soft foods. Could that even be possible at 10 days out though? Totally scared to even try.
  14. So I had my first food nightmare last night. I dreamed I ate an entire Subway turkey footlong and nearly killed myself. It was pretty brutal. These days most things are making me nauseous so I've found myself literally afraid to eat/try new things. Anyone else deal with this? How'd those of you further out get past it? Food and I used to be the best of friends, and now we're definitely enemies. How does one declare a truce? Literally frightened of my yogurt. It's staring right back at me. Help.
