How long did it take you from approval to surgery?
I got approved in less than 2months and didn't have to do the 1year diet BUT---- I have a very large hernia and my dr really fighted like -ell to get done within a 3months time zone. I would call your dr office and explain to them your situation and maybe they will push it for you.

What do you think of this?
You have the same shaped face. I wear my hair super short!!! right now it is pretty long for me about 4inches long. You would be suprise what a shorter cut will do for you. Also with that cut you can still wear in a barrette, ponytail on top of the head. the rule is the older you get the shorter and lighter your hair goes.

Why the Band?
I don't like to throw up and could count on one hand how many times I have. It is not like when you have the flu. I don't PB that much at all maybe 5 times since I have had the band. I was really concerned with it also. Was told by the dr. once I do it I won't want to do it again. If you get slow, chew, chew, chew. Find out what goes down well( I can't eat chicken unless I have a sauce on it--too dry) and learn to listen to your body it will tell you when you have had enough. If you don't stop your body will tell you also. Plus my DH knows my look when I have had enough and pulls my plate away from me or push it away and keep it out of my hands reach. I am a picker and that has gotten me into trouble.

How often do you have a protein shake for breakfast?
I started to experiment with different protien shakes. Plus my neighbor is really big into them since he has to keep in shape for his job and we would exchange powders we like. I went to GNC (not sure if everyone has them) and bought small amounts (bags) of the different flavors that I thought I would like. They only have 2grams of sugar and 15-18 grams of protein. And my DH and I have found out that we like them with a bananna in them for to give them a ice cream texture. I love my bananna, chocolate/carmel and strawberry flavors. I do mix them with a little bit of skim milk. two pkg (resturant size) of splenda and ice in the blender. I would rather have these then ice cream. They are so good. When I did my two pre op shakes. They told me I could mix anything with them that doesn't have any calories. So I bought some different extract flavoring and a lot of time put coffee in with the chocolate and it tasted just like a starbucks frappicino. I can't drink a shake unless it is in the blender with ice. but I am always experimenting with different flavors.

finished pre-op testing/more confused than before!
I have eaten around my band but just eating small amounts all day long. Not good and still not felt full. My dr told me 70% of the band is up to me it is not guarenteed to a weight loss.

Overeating.....Stretching pouch?
on my 3rd fill my dr told me to be careful that I might stretch my pouch back out. I don't know if it was a scare tactic or what. But I had my surgery in May and just now getting the "true" I am not hungry anymore. It takes time be patient. Everyone is different and will experience things at different times. I can honestly say that I was depressed when I would see how much and how fast everyone has been losing. I am averaging 8.2 pounds a month which my dr wants me to lose between 8-10pounds a month. So I am normal. :speechles

Why the Band?
My mother in law had the bypass done shortly after I met my husband. I saw with my own eyes how she replaced her food addition with alochol. She was about 180 and now almost 90pounds last we heard. She was sober for 5years until she had it done. Plus I was scared to death to have the bypass done. Too many complications.

Dilemma/confusion would love your help
I could eat a bagel when I first started with my fills. This is the first time that I have really noticed my fill that I got a month ago and it hit me about a week ago. My DH insurance pays 100% and I have been unemployeed and my stepmom passed away a day before my company let me go. So I started going to my dr. every two weeks if I was still snacking. I had my surgery in May and just now have had a different mind set. Remember it is not going to happen over night. Even though we would like it to. Learn to replace food with something else. I have started and almost done with my christmas presents. I made blankets for everyone. and my hands get soo sore and I can't move them. Also my friends have tried to replace always meeting and going out to eat with something else. I have a very supported circle around me.

How often do you have a protein shake for breakfast?
My dr. said about 2 months ago I can no longer do protein shakes because they won't fill me up. I LOVE my shakes because they taste so much like ice cream shakes to me. I experiment a lot with me. I am going to try and put some pumpkin in with vanilla and hopefully it will taste like pumkin pie filling. But I use a very high protein shake powder and skim milk and ice and splenda. And a bannana for texter. Ask your doctor and see what he says.

Question for everyone
I don't want to get any of my fill taken out. I can honestly say this is the first time I can feel my band working with my body. I have even noticed my thinking about food has changed a lot. Plus my snacking between meals has slowed down A LOT!!!

band lost
I have experienced within the last week that I can no longer wear my wedding band. So yesterday I took it off and until I lost my 100pounds I am not going to have it resized. I do have my great great grandmothers wedding band that I can almost wear. My husband thought I was taking my ring off for good, but I just don't want to lose it. Too many people that mean too much to me are within my wedding band.

Question for everyone
I don't know if anyone else has experinced this but I have noticed the past couple of weeks that I am feeling "tighter." I have my last fill about a month ago. It is possible for the band to get tighter the less I eat? because I am have been really hard to cut back

Handling the negativity of mom
My mom is very negative about everything!!! Even when I was only 20pounds overweight she told me I was obese. On my Psych. evaluation she told me to keep my mom out of my weight loss and don't invite her when I have my surgery. I know it sounds cruel. But it was very good advise. When she ask me about how my weight loss is going I tell her how much I have lost and that my doctor is very pleased with it and change the subject. And now I can say I am finally after 40years getting a grip on my weight and what caused me to eat.

When you woke up from anesthesia.....
I woke up in so much pain and all of theses nurses around me. I kept feeling something weird on my neck. and I started to pull at it and they of course freaked out. They had to put a central IV in my neck during surgery. Then I felt something heavy on one of my hands and they kept telling that I just woke up. then about 5mns later they discovered they put a battery backup on top of my hand. The Doc came and told me what went on. I was in a lot of pain and just wanted to get something to make me feel better.
