Rushing-
Almost everyone decides on surgery because we can't get it off on our own and if we get some off we put it back on. I haven't been able to lose over 11 lbs. at one time in about seven years!
-
Now what do i do!
Don't panic, it doesn't mean you will be sick!

Help! Ive gained 10 lbs from goal. :(
You should be happy with the progress you have made...go back to weighing yourself everyday and doing what you know works for you...accept yourself and understand we all make mistakes, it's nothing that can't be fixed...God loves you!

No Smoking
Some people hate my answer because quitting smoking is so hard...but it's 100% mental. I smoked for about 14 years, and I knew I wanted to quit, and when I decided to quit ( after trying a few times ), I knew I would not smoke anymore and I accepted it and didn't look back. It was a decision I knew I had made and I'm not going back. It's been almost ten years since I quit. Once you get it deep down, you will succeed. Good luck!

general insurance questions
Your surgeon and their staff will have a good idea if you will get approved. You will have to have a certain BMI and they take into account if your diabetic or have high blood pressure...check with your insurance ASAP

general insurance questions
You usually get all these tests done and then get approved or not, and most insurances pay for these things leading up to the approval or not, ask you insurance company...most surgeon offices know the answers because they deal with insurances so much.

general insurance questions
You have asked a very common question and you will get different answers because doctors and insurance companies are all different. This is a small list of how mine is going so far...I called and scheduled to attend seminar, the surgeons office sent me information to take to my PCP...I have to see my PCP six straight months, he has to write a letter that he recommends it, blood work, EKG, chest x-ray, sleep apnea test...if over 50, which I am not, a stress test, go to a nutrition class, a psych evaluation, see surgeon, but not often...some people get endoscopy, I'm not sure about it yet...I hope this helps

Getting ready mentally
Sorry, I forgot about your back hurting...try some different protein shakes so you will know what kind you like so you can be prepared after surgery.

Getting ready mentally
I haven't had my surgery, but I know I'm going to have to start finding time for myself...make time for exercise a few times a week to start off.

Insurance!
Call your insurance and ask! Some Dr. offices are experts at what you need also, because they deal with insurance companies everyday, good luck!

Very early, but I have begun!
Yesterday I went to my Primary Care Physician and had blood work, EKG, chest x-ray...he filled out my first of six assessments/weight and has to write my letter of recommendation. I'm signed up for the seminar on Tuesday, April 1 and I'm in the works of having a sleep apnea test done soon. It feels good even though I still have a lot to do!

weight-related comorbidities
Those are not listed as the usual things they look for...I'm not sure about your heart...they are looking for things the surgery will more likely improve. I have back problems and I definitely think it will help me, but I haven't found out yet if it will count"

Pre-op liquid diet and losing weight
Ok, that helps a lot

Pre-op liquid diet and losing weight
Right, but does my 20 lbs" that I can lose include this time right before surgery? In other words, do they weigh me on the day of surgery, I can only be down 20 lbs. from today? Or 20 lbs. down on the day I start liquid diet before surgery?

Pre-op liquid diet and losing weight
I am very early in my journey...I was told today I could lose 20 lbs. and still be eligible for the sleeve surgery....but how will losing weight that very last week or two before surgery when you're on a liquid diet play into the weight loss? Do I need to save a 10 lb. weight lose for that or once I'm that far it doesn't matter?

Want to back out.
I know someone going there, it's cheaper...but I wonder about his after care

Does everyone have to wait six months before surgery?
It makes me mad because my insurance isn't requiring it, my Dr. is
