  1. I tried one other (Tums Chewy Delights Very Cherry) and I didn't like them at all bleeeeh, so I bought the AlkaSelzer heartburn chews & I love them, and they work. They are my goto OTC for any time I have a sour tummy.
  2. I hear ya. I never had it (but one night when my lap band was waaay to tight but I got it fixed the next morning asap), and when I got it after my EGD, it really surprised me. I called after a week and the surgeon said that it's cause my throat kept fighting the endoscope (although I was asleep), go figure lol. At the time, I thought it was going to be forever but it did go away, I was so glad. Sorry to hear your daughter had severe GERD, good to hear she is off the meds now. You're right that unless we go through something ourselves, we just don't know how bad things are until we experience it. It was horrible...
  3. Yes. It took 2 to 3 weeks for it to go away. I just got some otc alka seltzer chewables and took them before I went to bed or when needed. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  4. I felt hungry for the first 2 weeks. Head hunger, acid mimicking hunger...etc. It dropped up big time on day 16 or 17. There is a great video on youtube by Dr. Weiner about head hunger. Dr. Alvarez has a good one too concerning a swollen stomach and how affects you physically in the beginning weeks.
  5. Hmm... First of all, it was by far the most difficult part of my journey so far. Some of the things I did was the following: Adding flavor extracts to make shakes. My favorite was the banana extract (Frontier makes an awesome one). Drinking all the shakes that my doctor asked me to drink, when I skipped, it made it a lot harder. Drinking low-sodium broth once a day to offset the sweetness of the shakes. Made popsicles out of my shakes, each popsicle was a different flavor so I wouldn't get tired of the flavor. (If you don't mind sugar-free things, there are sugar-free popsicles and Jell-O.)
  6. The first 10 days of my surgery. My weight did not change at all. My body likes to hang on to every single drop of water, I swear ugh. Since then I'm going on wk 7 and no stalls as of yet.
  7. @@rolosmom7 ah hehehehe... Yeah, I haven't tried mixtures. I just usually use watermelon, lemons, green apple or strawberries. I should try a mixture though. Someday
  8. @@rolosmom7 Lots of great recipes on the net Just look for fruit infused water recipes. There are plenty of simple and fancy recipes. I got my fruit infuser water bottle on Amazon. At the time there were only 1 or 2 but now there are tons of good ones!
  9. Great share. I am into martial arts as well. I have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. I was a healthy fat person too. When I won the black belt kata at the LA open (at 200+ lbs), the person who gave me the trophy whispered in my ear how happy he was for me and for "a girl your size" you did great. o.O Thanks for the share Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  10. After weeks of liquid diet, I still get nauseous thinking about anything sweet but my favorite treats are superfood fruits. They contain so much more than just Vitamins. They have Fiber, minerals, antioxidants, phytochemicals and a whole slew of benefits for your skin, hair, and body health. Can't get all of those in a pill. Hehe I have a juicy pomelo in my refrigerator right now that I think I'll have a few slices for Breakfast with some cheese. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  11. I love making fruit infused Water especially watermelon. It's healthy, it's zero calories and carbs but you get that wonderful taste. There are a lot of recipes on the net. I used to buy it but it got expensive so I bought a fruit infuser water bottle. I've always been sketchy about anything with artificial sweeteners so I never went that route. I've read too many scientific studies concerning sucralose and microflora. Another favorite drink is homemade milk kefir with berries blended in it... But that's not for hydration purposes but for daily Probiotics. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  12. I had thought it was another doctor, like my situation. My family doctor insists I keep taking Triamterene daily for edema, and my bariatric surgeon says no. It's like a tug o war. Lol Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  13. Ahh, if your bariatric surgeon prescribed it, I think it'd be ok then but good to hear you'll wait to talk to him. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  14. I had to drink 5 protein shakes with Water (or 4 with milk) plus 1 cup unsalted broth. Nothing else. It sucked lol. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  15. Day 39 I was cleared for everything. No diet restriction, no exercise restriction. It was a day that couldn't come to soon. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  16. @@WLSResources/ClothingExch You're very welcome . The only reason I knew about it was my first week with the sleeve I was expecting to not be hungry at all, and it freaked me out (kindasorta hehe) that I was hungry all the time. It dropped off about 16-17 days later after the swelling went down. With my band, it was acid that mimicked hunger, bleh. You are so right, that a weight-losers work is never done! I'm always confused when I get hungry, trying to figure out what type if any hunger is it. /cry
  17. Hmmm... 10 lbs/month is 120 lbs in a year. I would say that you're doing very well. From what I researched, the first month many lose 20-30 lbs but after that it's 8 to 12 lbs per month. Of course it depends on a lot of things such as BMI, activity, what you eat... etc. You seem to be right on target.
  18. I did. On day 3, other than the muscle soreness, it was as if I hadn't had a surgery. I'm 6 wks, and from the beginning I could always drink 64 oz and meet my 60g+ protein goals, and there hasn't been one food that upsets my stomach at all. I called and they said that's the way they always hope it will be for each patient.
  19. Pre-op diet, and the first 4 hrs after surgery (nausea galore). Day 2 I slept, and by day 3 I felt good... But for me, definitely the pre-op diet.
  20. When I was in my early 20s, my boyfriend at the time told me that no one else would want me because I had became a blob. When he met me at 14, I was thin. It hurt, but I welcome that hurt because it opened my eyes that he's been verbally abusive all along. It empowered me to easily walk away. After that, he showed up at all my different universities through the years asking to talk to me again (never gave him my number or home address), only for me to smile and say "No, thanks." Good for you. When people resort to name calling, it says a lot more about them than the person they are verbally abusing. To walk away from a toxic person is a major accomplishment in itself. *hugs*
  21. 13 lbs in one month is awesome at your weight. That's more than 3 lbs/week. Just keep doing what you're doing as long as you're getting plenty of Water and your Protein needed. You're on the right track.
  22. I log my food everyday, calories/carbs/fat... etc, It helps a lot and great for daily reflection. See what your normal average calorie/carb input is, and try to keep it in the same range or change things up if you want to lose more.
  23. I was on the pureed phase still at 4 weeks, I was told not to worry about the amount but focus on getting 60g+ protein and 64oz water. Generally, I was able to eat about 3-4 oz of pureed foods. Solid foods are another thing altogether. At 2-3 oz, I can't eat anymore.
