1 Year Check In For March Bandsters

Am I the only one who has only lost 40 lbs? I have only had 4 fills in the year because I had 2 other major surgeries (including spinal fusion surgery) since the band, but I know I still make bad choices about what I eat. And I haven't been very active so far. I just feel a little like a loser in the not so good way! Getting serious now though. Plan to get a fill and started walking now that I am healed from the spinal surgery.
  5. 1 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 1st Anniversary sisterwood!

  6. June 23,2011

I went in for my 3rd fill today. I havent felt any restriction to speak of in the last month unless I took a big bite of something. Eating slow and chewing well, everything seems to go right thru the band. I had gained a pound so my official weight loss today on record was 24 lbs since March 7th. I am at 6.25 cc's in a 10 band now. Surely I will begin losing again now!...

Lap Band AND Knee Replacementy anyone???

I Have only lost 23 lbs since March 7th surgery. My unoperated knee already is thankful for that and my back is too. When I had the knee replacement I weighed 10 lbs less than I do now. I gained weight each year after. Felt like my legs were balloons about to pop when I went for my lap band. Now they are soft and not full of Fluid or fat. Legs seem so light. If you tried everything and can't "not eat" the band should be wonderful for you. It's like you still decide what you want to eat but your stomach has more input in the decision. It is a wonderful tool I am still waiting for another fill to get more restriction but even without that I eat 1/3 of what I always did before.

    MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!

OH GREAT! this is the first day I decided to have whole grain Cereal for breakfast instead of the low carb! I agree, I have been having too many carbs and will try to make the rest of the day Protein. Thanks [/url]
  10. Still so happy to have had the lap band! Slow weight loss is better than slow gain!

Lap Band AND Knee Replacementy anyone???

I had a TKR in 2005 so I guess I am past the concern of infection traveling to the knee site. I remember having antibiotics the day of any procedure even dental for 2 years afterward. Maybe that is all you will need to do. Just make sure your lap band surgeon and knee doctor both know about each other. Then THEY will say whether its a good idea. I think its a great idea!

    MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!

I've been doing terrible! I weigh the same thing I did a month ago. Surgery was march 7th, quickly lost 20-25 pounds and no more. Even after my first fill. The 3 weeks since has made no difference. I am so mad at myself because I am eating good foods but apparently too many calories to go below the original loss. I feel like I have been here so long this is my fat self :-( and I will not lose weight! I called the doctor after a week of the fill and they told me to go ahead and wait for May 12th to come back. Once I saw I had no problem swallowing anything I admit I ditched the soups and mushies and eat regular food. It has been stressful because of an elderly mother in law having to move into a nursing home but then I always have an excuse to eat. This is why I chose to have lap band because I admit if I could eat less by will power I would have done it years ago. My breakfast is usually egg omelet with cheese in it and 2 thin strips of bacon. Lunch is a sandwich (which I can eat a whole sandwich) supper is veggies and chicken breast or cheesburger patty. Snack during the day may be a string cheese and an atlkins bar. A treat I have at night is luigi's frozen ice. Now that I write it down it is a lot but still its 1/4 of what I used to eat! Oh and I drink skim milk. I think I just told you all why I am not losing weight! I just have to vent. Confession is good for the soul.

    Gall Stones After LapBand?

Oh my goodness! I thank you all for your comments. I am getting my prescription filled and starting it!
  14. My doctor says I should take Actigal for 6 months post op to prevent gallstones. Do all bariatric doctors do this? I can understand it for the bypass since vitamins are not processed the same in the body but with lapband, all our vitamin and minerals are absorbed normally.
