Good advice about the foods above! Another thing to try is DISTRACTION. Go to your local library and borrow some great (preferably FUNNY) movies. I you like crafty stuff, get your hands busy, knit a scarf or something. I have had trouble with depression and chronic pain from arthritis and distraction works wonders for me. It makes the time go faster and getting your mind involved in something other than your pain can help you heal. Good luck!
  2. You poor thing! Congrats on quitting smoking though. That is a tough one, but worth the struggle. My mom died from smoking complications (a slow miserable death with too much wrong with her to list here). I agree with the others to get a psych eval from someone who is familiar with what the band is. They mostly want to know that you are not bulimic, anorexic, or psycotic ( sorry about the spelling errors). I can tell you though, if you go into a shrinks office madder than a hornet about anything their radar goes off. Even if you are mad at the incompetance of the shrink!
  3. I have one year of free fills with cincy weight loss, after that if I am dissatisfied, I'll be calling Dr. C. I was upset with cincy weight loss that although I'm allergic to codeine, they gave me a Rx for a pain med after surgery that was contraindicated for someone with a codeine allergy. So there I was with no pain meds other that otc stuff. Then on my first (and only so far )appt. after surgery I only saw the nurse.
  4. I got my band done by Dr Osborne and he was very nice. I get the feeling though that I will never see him again since he didn't check me after surgery. I was feeling rather adrift after that and I havn't even had a fill yet. Do doctors or nurses do the actual fill?
  5. Dr Osborne of the Cincy weight loss center only does lap bands. That is where I had mine done. In dayton, miami valley hospital and kettering hospital also do bands. good luck!
  6. Hi I went to Dr Osborne at cincyweightloss.com. They were very nice. (banded nov 15, 06) annieM
  7. Hi Flowerpot, I was banded on Nov 15th and told only my sisters who ask about the weight loss everytime I speak to them. (what was I thinking when I told them??) I drank the Myoplex protein drink in the ready to drink boxes. It has 300 cal, but only 2gm of sugar and 42 gm of protein. Unlike a lot of other drinks it tastes OK. The only problem is going into the GNC store and buying it from some muscle-bound fellow....
  8. My husband had the gastric bypass and now has to deal with all the issues of malabsorption of vitamins, etc. He has lost bone and muscle mass in spite of being careful to injest mega-amounts of vitamins. The lap band doesn't involve any of the troubles of malabsorption of the bypass type surgeries and that's why I had it (Nov 15,06) instead.
