Lower BMI Bandsters!
Hello Fellow Low BMI ers: How is everyone doing today? What was your menu like? Did you exercise today? Did you drink enough low calorie beverages? I am starting my new exercise program on Monday. My preop doesn't start until Dec. 30. I almost can't wait till then. I like to have guidelines or I feel out of control. I am eating what I want right now, and feel out of control. I can't wait to be banded. 20 days till banding!!! Audree:clap2:

Hello all! I just wanted to check in. I am not on the pre op yet and surgery is not until Jan. 5. I am just eating normal foods. I find myself eating less than I usually do, but my portions are still large. I plan on starting exercising again on Monday. Is everyone exercising? Audree

January Bandsters???
I will also be getting banded with Dr. Ortiz, but on Jan. 5!!!! I was supposed to get banded Dec. 18, but I had to reschedule!!!:welldone2: Man, it would have been this weekend I would have been leaving! I almost didn't want to go through the holidays. But, this will be my first Christmas at my house, so maybe it was best I wasn't on liquids only. I just recieved his book "Lap band for life". I bought it on Amazon.com It is really an awesome book. I just started but I feel even more confident reading up on him and what even the inventor of the Lapband has to say about him. He has trained most doctors in the US!!!! I am soooooooooo excited! Audree:clap2:

Lower BMI Bandsters!
Hello fellow lower BMI party people!!! Jane: I didn't go for my walk :welldone2: Why can't I get off my butt and start exercising again? I love the way I feel when I do. Christa94, JDru, BeacheeGirl, Julestwu and Big Girl Banded (I hope I didn't miss anyone): Nice to meet you guys! I look forward to getting to know all of you, doing this together and helping each other through the different hurdles we will face. You guys are right about the low carb in the strict form like Atkins. The way I liked to do it was more like a South Beach Diet, having whole grain breads, whole grain Pasta, staying away from white flower products and sugar. I try to eat more organic when my finances allow for it. I think I will try to have a small salad with chicken and some veggies to keep things well rounded. I just recieved Dr. Ariel Ortiz's book "Lap Band For Life". I started reading it and I am even more impressed with him. There is a section where the inventor of the lapand writes the foreward of the book about Dr. Ortiz. It is a really good book. I am about to start reading about the nutrional section. I will be posting different things I find that I think will be interesting. I also bought a bood that has recipes from a lady that used to write for Gourmet magazine. She got banded and just revised all her recipes for lap band friendly recipes. They sound really good! I want to go for a walk today. I just feel like I have a mental block and CAN"T do it!!!! I can't figure it out! I am not on my pre op diet yet, so I am eating regular. Still trying to keep it pretty decent. I am having Protein shakes for Breakfast and usually a quesidilla for lunch. I am taking liquied Vitamins and liquid B complex, cod liver oil pills and a eating suppressant called Green T? How are the ones that are banded taking there pills? Do you have trouble taking them? Have a great day!!!!! Audree,

Lower BMI Bandsters!
How is everyone doing today? Is everyone journaling what they eat, drink, supplements, exercise, etc.? I am not banded yet, but I have read that people that journal have better results since you can look back and see what you did and lost weight and what you did and didn't lose weight. I feel like I am in limbo, not on pre op yet since my surgery is rescheduled. I do feel compeled to come here at least twice a day and learn as much as possible. Does everyone followe a low carb diet, eat the Protein first, veggies second, fruit third and carbs last? Everyone that has had really good weight loss tells me that they stick to that kind of eating plan, stay away from sweets and chips completely, drink a lot of Water and exercise. We went through this much trouble, especially the self payers, to not eat they way the doctor tells us to. Why do we self sabotage ourselves? When I found out my surgery was rescheduled, I was so upset (I was on day 3 of pre op and feeling really good), that I just wanted to eat anything I could get my hands on. Fortunately for me, I had no junk food or junk food, so I had baked chicken, rice and a salad, but more than I shoud have. My husband asked me why was that my first response? People who don't suffer from weight problems don't understand. He just couldn't understand why I just wanted to binge and gulp down my food without tasting it. I felt bad after wards and thought, man, I can't wait till the day that I CAN"T do this to myself anymore. My band won't let me. Please keep me accountable with the exercise thing. I won't be able to lie to you guys about it. I may just take a walk right now so when you ask me, I can say I did it!!! Also, why don't we introduce ourselves? Like, I am 33, married, 2 girls, 5 and 7, two step daughters 15 and 19. I live in Rancho Cucamonga, Ca, 5'5 and 185 pounds, highest weight 240. Audree

I have to come here to at least read posts, but I feel like I should be doing something. Maybe I should go for a walk? I am bummed. I was supposed to be leaving this Sunday to get banded. BOOOHOOOO Hope you all had a great day! Audree

Lower BMI Bandsters!
:update: My surgery had to be rescheduled to January 5th. I am still a little bummed. I was getting really excited too. The positive thing is that I wanted to re start going to the gym so it can be easier to walk after surgery and keep on going. I just wanted to give everyone a tip that I learned when I was doing a medical weight loss program at Lindora. It is a plateau buster. Breakfast: 1 egg and 1/2 a grapefruit Lunch/Dinner: white fish, spinach and 1/2 a grapefruit Also, a lemon boiled and drank all day You are supposed to eat this until the plateau breaks and I remember it always worked within a few days (I did Lindora like 6 times, I just couldn't keep the weight off). I have done so many diets. I think I will rotate them for fun. South Beach, The Daniel Fast, Juvo shakes, Lindora, etc. Does anyone else have a plateau buster they'd like to share? Audree:clap2:

Negative People
I mentioned it to my family, not as in I was going to do it, but as something my friend did. I think people are just ignorant on all the facts. It is the unknown, they just don't understand the pain of the weight gain/loss over and over and over..... They don't realize how we live our lives and how obsessed we are with food, feeling uncomfortable, how we put our lives on hold to do this or do that, the next diet, the time wasted thinking about it.... My mom and husband are the only ones who know I am doing it, and a friend who actually had it done a year ago (and I was one of those ignorant people, who had doubts, but I kept it to myself and supported her no matter what) Now I know better and am scheduled to do it myself January 5. My mom actually told me she thinks this is to radical of a thing to do and that I should just have a butt reduction!!!!! That doesn't change the fact that I over eat. I can eat more than my husband! Even if I do Atkins, vegan lifestyle, I still don't lose because my portions are to big. In the end, only we know the pain we have suffered, the time wasted and how FREE we will feel to eat like a normal person, to actually stop when we are full, now because we physcially have to. Sometimes I think my mom wouldn't know how to deal with me thin, I think she thinks I will change. Maybe we are safe overweight for people. On the other hand, my husbnad is so happy he won't be forced to go on another diet with me. He says when ever I do another diet, he is forced to do it too! He has to also go through the emotional roller coaster ride I take every time I start something new or recycled, start to lose weight, start to gain it back.... Do it for yourself. You are the one who lives in your own skin. I am doing this for me! Audree

January Bandsters???
I was supposed to be banded Dec. 18, but my financing may not come in by the date I need to pay, buy a couple of days. So, that might put me in January. I will find out by Friday afternoon. I was on the pre op and now I just want to blow it. I guess I shouldn't because there is a slim to none chance I may get the money by Friday, but most likely not. I will be posting recipes from this awesome book I got. It is a recipe book from a lady who used to do recipes for Gourmet magazine. She got banded and modified all her recipes. They sound really great! Audree

I don't have any other avenues for money. The loan is a for sure thing. We already signed loan docs. Just the cutoffs gettng in the way. I can always pray for a miracle. 50/50 doesn't mean no, right? But, he said don't hold my breath. I want to EAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But what if the money comes in and I screw up my pre op diet? Audree

:update: :spit: I may have to reschedule my surgery!!! I am very sad. My loan may not fund in time. I will know for sure Friday afternoon. I contacted the Dr. office. I needed to be honest and tell them it is a 50/50 chance. And my husband already took the week off vacation! I dont know how to feel and just feel like EATING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I asked them if they have a cancelation, maybe do my surgery during the week instead of Monday? If not, I guess I have to battle the holidays and do the surgery in January!!!! Audree

Ariel: It just freaked me out that they kept on saying "I am going to try to not hit the artery" TRY! And then they had to keep going to that guy to answer questions because they couldn't get the stiching. Maybe I am wrong. I am just curious to know how many lapbands they had done up to that point. I am sure they are great doctors and I am not trying to say anything about them. Just them saying "trying not to hit the blood vessel" freaked me out!!!!

You could call me BabyGB? Or by my name, Audree if you'd like. I just love the name, plus it goes with my theme song "Baby Got Back". Wherever I am and with whoever, if that song comes on, everyone looks at me. I just went to a Christmas party and the song came on. Instantly everyone looked at me to see if I was going to go dance,so I did! They were all like "go Audree, go Audree, go Audree" and I don't know hardly anyone there! My friend also made a theme song up, to my butt. It gets noticed, hence the name. Just imagine Jennifer Lopez butt times, let's see, like 5 or more!!!!! Audree

Lower BMI Bandsters!
Julestwu: Hi! I just wanted to know how you lost your weight? Do you eat low carb or do you eat whatever you want in moderation? Do you exerciese regularly? It seems like those who really "stick" to the rules do best and I wonder if for the lower BMI's, if that would help the weight come off quicker. I used to exercise about 4 times a week for 2 hours, but after my kids had Thanksgiving break and then sick (two weeks), I couldn't get my butt back to the gym. I still can't. I just need a kick in the butt or some major accountability. Maybe we can check in with each other, write what we ate, what supplements/vitamins/appetite suppresant, how much fluids we took in and what form of exercise we did. Also, how we feel, mentally and physcially. I know it helps me to journal my feelings, emotions, anger, etc then I can relate it to me or the food issues. As for me, this is what I ate today: Breakfast: 1 Protein shake 240 calories Lunch: Lean Cuisine 320 calories Supplements: Glacial Milk liquid Vitamins, liquid B's vitamins, 1 cod liver oil pill, 2 Green T appetite suppressants(one in the morning and one at mid day). H20: So far about 20 ounces No exercise yet! Please kick me in the butt someone!!!! Audree

It's good to hear there are other videos that looked better than that one. It seemed like they were not very experienced!!!! DAMN I am glad my doctor has like almost 3000 or something like that under his belt. These doctors looked like it was there first time. Can you send me the link to the other surgery? This one left me feeling queezy too. I am the type of person that wants to know exactly how it is done, somehow that makes me feel a little more in control than if I wouldn't have any idea. 3rd day pre op diet and I feel WEIRD! My stomach feels sick and hungry at the same time. Major hunger pangs! I HAVE to take the appetite suppresant or else I get a desperate feeling. THe ones I am taking are too big and solid. I don't think I would be able to get it down unless I crushed it. My mom is going with me and I know she is just going because if she doesn't,she knows I will go alone. She is not being supportive, just quite and like she wishes she didn't have to go. My husband has to stay with the kids and took the whole week off to take care of me when I get home on Tuesday. I asked my mom to see it like a little vacation and time together, but she just doens't say anything. I think she thinks I am crazy or something. It kinda bumms me out. She knows how much I have struggled all my life!!!! A part of me thinks she is scared of me being skinny. Do you think people get jealous when you get skinny? Have any of you dealt with friends or relatives changing toward you because you are no longer their fat, yo you diet partner? She tells me I look fine just the way I am. But every time I gain she tells me my butt is getting bigger. I look forward to the day that I don't have to spread my cheeks just to go to the bathroom or fart!!! (sorry so graphic but it is very sadly true) Audree Hope everyone is doing well!

Would appreciate everyone's prayers
You know what they say, "If you are going through hell, don't stop!!! HE will bring you through it and you will be refined in the process. Just draw near to Him and He will give you that peace that passes all understanding. You will remain in my prayers! Audree

2nd Day of Pre Op diet
Today is my 2nd day of Pre Op. I am hungry, but feel good. I had energy even if I am only having about 800 calories or so a day! I am having my protein shake for breakfast, Lean Cuisine for Lunch/Dinner. They are such small portions. It makes me realize that my portions were enormous! I could normally eat 4-5 of those little Lean Cuisine plates. I weighed in today at 182. The scale at my mom's last week said 185. I was also premenstrual. I am waiting for Dr. Ortiz's book to come. I can't wait to read it. Hopefully, I will be in Mexico this coming Sunday!!!
