I have not been a person to struggle with my weight for my entire life. I was thin in high school and college. However, after I had my first child. I was not able to get down under 200 lbs. Part of it was the stress of having a very sick baby who would sometimes wake up 8-12 times a nights. However, I stayed in the 210 lb range. 2 Years after that I had my second son. Again, I stayed in the low 200 lb range. However, 2 1/2 years later...surprise...surprise...I had twins. I still weighted about 210 shortly after they were born. Soon though eating in the middle of the night while feeding the babies, I started to put on weight. I also continued to work fulltime. In 2005, I lost my mom in July. A year and half later we lost grandma. A short ten weeks later, we lost my neice, our beautiful Alisha (we had just celebrated her 18th birthday the week before) in a tragic car accident. This stress was all too much to handle and I turned to food for comfort. The weight kept piling on. I accepted a job that required me to teach via the computer. That lack of activity did little to help with keeping weight off. I gained 40 pounds after starting this job. Finally, I got sick and tired of being sick and tired and knew that I had to do something. I was fortunate that my approval and Dr. appointments went smoothly as did the surgery. I was banded on July 28th. I am absolutely thrilled with everything so far.
