how long after surgery can you have an alcoholic beverage?
Hi, I had my first post op drink last Friday (vodka mixed with pink lemonade crystal light!), I was 24 days post-op, it went down fine and I have had a frozen margarita since then. I think it just depends on how well you handle your alcohol and also yes it is empty calories so you have to be extra careful if you want to continue living healthy with a successful weight loss!

Labor Day Challenge
UGH! such a slow week! I was not happy with the scale this week, it went up and down all week! surprisingly enough still lost 2 lbs but I was really hoping for another 5! I just started solid foods again last wednesday and cant seem to get full now  I am scheduled for a fill on next Tuesday and can't wait!! I really hope it helps because right now I am starting to loose hope. Sorry to be so negative everyone but you all are the only ones that really know what this is like.

Stage 3 diet question...
tuna in water (i like the small pouches) or canned white meat chicken (in water)-both are pretty soft and you can mix with a little light mayo. creamed soups, and V-8. Also i have a problem with those protein shakes (i'm just sick of them!) i found some special K protein water mix (kind of like the crystal light packs) and its just like drinking flavored water, there's not a lot of protein in them but there is some and it beats the shakes!

Day One Need Help
I am currently on my "clear liquids" post-op diet, it has consisted of water, propel, sf jello, sf popsicles, chicken broth, and protein shakes. On day 6-10 I get to move on to thicker creamier foods like oatmeal, thicker soups ect. Good luck to you and congrats on your journey to your new life!

is this pain normal??
I was banded on 6/29/10 and I am having this pain mostly on my left side just under my rib cage. also it feels like something is stuck...i have my self kinda freaked out that something is wrong. has anyone else had this?? i have only been consuming clear liquids (water, propel, sf popsicles, sf jello and protein shakes) I did stop taking my liquid loratab b/c it was making me way to sleepy and i couldnt take care of my kids.

Protein??How to get your protein in the first two weeks of post op?
I was told 3 protein shakes a day (I am only able to get about 2 oz down at a time) and then for me the hard part is staying hydrated, I have been sipping on water, SF popcicles, and chicken broth but i still feel like im not drinking enough. I had my surgery on 6/29 so I am hoping the fluid intake will get a little easier. As far as the type of protein shake, I was told by the nutritionist to try Syntrax Nectar, its a Whey Protein Isolate shake and has 23 grams of protein per scoop, so I am getting about 35 grams a day in my 3 shakes (i mix my powder w/milk for a little extra protein and it taste better than w/water)

Not sure I'm ready to tell anyone yet but I need help
I was hesitant about sharing the news of my decision to have the lap band done too, I still dont share the info on my facebook or anything like that but those around you especially those who are helping you out with your kids should probably know. I had to tell a good friend of mine because she is the only one my kids will go to other than my husband and he works all day. Good luck to you!

Typical day on Preop diet???
It does depend on your surgeon. Mine requires liquids. I was told by the nutritionist to try Syntrax shakes, it is a Whey Protein Isolate shake and tastes ok as long as its mixed with non fat milk, I tried with water and I couldn't get it down! I was told if i had to "cheat" I could have a small piece of chicken or other high protein meat with no sides! So I have cheated twice. I can also have lots of water, propel and SF popsicles. Now the other surgeon in my dr office allows his patients to be on a strict Atkins diet (that would have been nice to have real food!!) Good Luck, and I hope everything goes well for you!!

Hi! I'm ready!!
I am new to using this forum and am very excited about getting the LAP-BAND®®! I am scheduled for surgery on June 29th and starting to get a little nervous! I have been on my pre-op liquid protein diet for almost 3 weeks so I have lost almost 20 lbs but am starving! I know I will be a liquids for a while longer after the surgery but hopefully wont feel hungry since my stomach pouch will be much smaller! My starting/heaviest weight was 272 and my personal initial goal is 200 and then ultimate personal goal is 150-155.
