  1. I was banded on 6/22. Had my first fill about 3 weeks ago. I'm not scheduled for a second fill until 9/4. The actual fill was easy. But now I think I'm in bandster hell! I don't feel any restriction and I'm hungrier than I should be. It's so frustrating. I refuse to give in to any carb temptations so I'm still eating a lot of protein to help with the hunger. When I got my fill I had told my doctor that I had started to feel more hungry, but he has a standard protocol that you can only get .4 cc's on your first fill. I just don't think that was enough! UGH!
  2. I was banded on June 22. Today, I started to get a migraine. Without even thinking, I reached for the Excedrin Migraine and took 2 pills. Well let me tell you! BIG MISTAKE! I instantly got sick to my stomach. I vomited a little bit. But then suffered the rest of the day with a horrible sick feeling in my stomach and a headache that wouldn't go away! I have read a couple things on here that says no aspirin. Is that the rule of thumb? If so, I don't know what I'll do about the next migraine! Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

    Anyone banded in June?

Hi everyone! I was banded on June 22! I have lost a total of 28 pounds! I also had problems with my bowels but I started taking the Benefiber chewable pills and it seemed to help. I had my first fill last week, but I don't know if it did anything. The doctor put in .4 cc (he says this is standard for his office). But I'm feeling hungry and not feeling any restriction! This concerns me. Although I REFUSE to cheat and I have promised myself to be disciplined! I just hope that I keep losing something each week!! Good luck all!

    1st fill blues

I had surgery on the 22nd of June. I had my first fill today. The doctor put in 4cc. Right after surgery I felt some restriction but the last two weeks I have noticed that I'm very hungry. But even though I'm hungry I refuse to give in to the snack attack! I'm hoping that this fill today will start to help a little as I have to wait 6 weeks for my next one! Congrats on the weight loss so far! Keep going!
  5. I'm still very new at this and am scheduled for my first fill on July 21. However, I had my surgery on the 22nd, adn I have noticed in the last couple of days that my appetite seems to be growing. My doctor still has me on an all protein diet but with my increasing appetite and I'm starting to crave vegetables and other things. I started getting nervous about my increasing appetite but it sounds like it might be the norm??? I'm still sticking to my nutrition program but I feel hungry more often, but I refuse to give in!!!
  6. I go in on the 21st for my first fill. It might be gas, I don't know! I'm worried about slippage but from what I have read on here, if the band slipped I would definitely feel it. Congrats on your band!
  7. I was banded on 6/22/10! Yay for me! For the most part things have been pretty smooth sailing. I didn't have a whole lot of pain and I recovered nicely. Now for the past three days I have had this pain in the left upper quadrant of my abdomen. It's not excrutiating pain but I can certainly feel it. Did anyone experience this? Does anyone have any suggestions of what it could be? I can still eat and I can still drink, it just bothers me some. Should I call the doctor? Any suggestions are appreciated!

    I cant even believe it!

Congratulations! I do wonder though, if there is such a thing as losing too fast??? I started my pre-op diet on 6/8/10 and weighed in at 274. I was banded on 6/22/10. They did not weigh me in on surgery day (which I thought was strange)!! Today is 7/3/10 and I weighed myself and I am down to 245. That's 29 pounds!!!! As you can imagine I'm super EXCITED!! However, I also am cautious! I know that I'm going to level off soon and lose a little at a time (which I'm anticipating and okay with). I just wanted to know did anyone have a large weight loss at the beginning?
  9. I was banded on 6/22 and still don't have much of an appetite! I am forcing my protein down, just because I know it's important. But there is no way I could finish 4 oz. at a meal. I'm drinking a lot of water and decaffeinated tea. Good luck!
  10. Hey everyone! I was banded on 6/22/10! YAY!!! Right now I am on a protein mushy diet. I'm running out of things to try and am getting bored! I'm actually craving vegetables!!! Anyone have any suggestions? I have 5 more days on mushy protein, and then I move to protein for 2 months. So I need to get some new ideas!!! Thanks!

    Soft Protein

All of these ideas sound great! I've never tried Greek yogurt but I think I'm going to pick some up! My wonderful hubby is making a slow cooked roast in the crock pot today so that way I will have something different for the next couple of days!!! He's such a peach!!!

    Soft Protein

Thanks for all the great recipes! I'm definitely going to try those! I wish I could have veggies!
  13. Good day everyone! I was banded on 6/22/10. So far so good, a few gas pains here and there. I started a mushy diet this past Friday and that seems to be going well so far. However, I am a little concerned about bowel movements. Is it normal to go a few days without one? I know this might sound gross but I'm just worried. I haven't had one since day of surgery. I'm not sure if I should introduce a fiber product or just wait it out. My mom has had severe issues when it comes to this topic so I'm very sensitive to it. Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
  14. Thanks for all the feedback! I'll just relax and see what happens! I started mushy foods on Friday. So far so good! I think each doctor has a different program. I could be wrong though! Good luck!

    tomorrows the day

Good luck! I was banded on June 22! I'm actually feeling pretty good besides some gas pains here and there! But heck, I'll take a few gas pains on my journey to being healthy!
  16. Did anyone try Maalox? I went to the store to get some Gas X and they were all out! They only thing they had was Maalox. i do believe it's basically the same, but I'm just wondering!
  17. Does it have to be the Gas-X strips or can it be the tablets?
  18. I had my band put in on the 22nd. I too have had some difficulty keeping things down. The day after the surgery I didn't keep anything down. Then yesterday I was able to keep some fluids and today I'm able to keep fluids as well down. I too am worried about dehydration. But I keep sipping hoping that it stays down. I haven't really experienced too much pain except for the occassional gas pain. Those can be tough!!!! good luck and keep your chin up! I'm just trying to stay positive in knowing that things will get better!
  19. Congats!!!! I'm having my surgery on the 22nd! I am in my second week of pre-op diet and have lost 13 pounds just on this! Although the no caffeine is KILLING me!!!! But I guess it's a little price to pay for the rewards in the end!!! Good luck!!!!

    Pre-Op Hungry Girl

I'm on day 7 of mine and doing good so far! The hardest has been the no caffeine!!! Have had headaches off and on but they say that will go away eventually too! Good luck!

    Any June Bandsters???

My date is set for the 22nd! I'm excited, nervous, scared, etc! I'm more anxious about the gas pains! Have been doing all protein & liquid diet for 1 week and that's going well so far! Good luck everyone!

    Holly Hell Batman!

I'm on my first day of my pre-op diet and I swear the only thing I'm thinking about is FOOD!! I'm NEVER like that!!! My diet consists of 2 Protein shakes and 1 meal (4 ounces of protein and 1/2 c. of non-carb veggies). I can also have Jello, broth, and popsicles. I am having surgery on the 22nd and I think every emotion I have is popping up! Excited, scared, nervous, etc..... Good luck to you all!
