Liquid Diet During The Holidays
I was banded last year on the 20th, so I was on liquid the week before and 2 weeks after. Luckily on Christmas I got to add full liquids and the Unjury I had tasted wonderful. I did go to my parents house, my parents knew I had surgery obviously (I told my sister that day) so I had asked my mom not to go crazy cooking, I knew she would cook some for my sister, but I managed through. I did not cheat. Just remember it is just another day. Unfortunately the holiday treats at work have been kicking my butt. So I'm just focusing on maintaining right now.

Crazy Question For Women Bandsters....
I dd not wear an underwire bra prior to surgery and I don't beleuve it has anything to do with my surgery since my port is much lower. But I've found if I sit a certain way I guess the wire pushes into my skin/fat whatever and can be quite painful if sitting that way for to long.

Help Stuck In Starvation Mode
@ sanction. Yeah you can lose weight but anorexic also lose a ton of lean body mass as well and that is why they look like skeletons. I know I don't want to not have any muscle (not buff, but have a little definition) so I eat more than the average bandster. I'd rather lose slower and not look awful down the road.

Lifting More Than 20lbs After Lap Band Surgery?
Odds are you'll be ok just be careful you don't want to tug at the incision sites and rip the sutures causing a hernia. I went back to work one week post op and was lifting animals. I think the max I lifted until like 3 weeks post of was 22lb or something. So I did not go crazy and start picking up 70 lb animals right away, but I did pick lighter ones up and had no problem

1 Year Lap Band Surgery Anniversary And Struggling....
Odds are you are not eating enough due to your restriction. You'll surprise yourself if you get a little unfill and start eating more and you'll lose.

How Many Days Of Work Did You Miss after Lap band Surgery?
I'm on my feet 10 hour shifts, and I took one week. Had surgery Monday, back on Monday. Though Tuesday and Wednesday are my scheduled days off, so I had 2 days off after my one day back. But I felt pretty well. Started getting really bored by day 4. I felt I could've gone back sooner. I even shoveled myself out through a foot of snow to get to work that monday. Though I know if I had called my supervisor she would've been fine with me staying home. I just needed to go back to work, I was SOOO bored.

Knot In Area Of Lap Band Incision
Probably just scar tissue forming. When were you banded?

Wth, My First Lap Band Fill !!
A fill will not make you lose weight. A fill makes you feel less hungry (if you are) so that YOU eat less. So therefore if you're within your calories and not hungry a fill isn't going to do anything except make it harder for you to eat. You are not going to lose the weight overnight. So don't get discouraged.

Suggestion If You've Never Had Lap Band Surgery Before...
They put a scopolamine patch behind my ear before surgery and I did not feel nauseous once. Not sure why all hospitals don't do this. The only side effect I had from it was my vision was not right, After looking at something for more than a few seconds my eyes could not focus. I was going crazy until I realized it was from the patch a bit after I removed it my vision was fine again.

Wth, My First Lap Band Fill !!
If you're not hungry and are losing weight, why do you want a fill? You're not supposed to feel full, you are supposed to feel satisfied. I'm a year out and I had one tiny fill 5 months out, only to realize that it's not for me and I'm fine losing weight without fills. Though my body's being really stupid now, but I know a fill is not going to help with that. You should only get a fill if you're hungry between meals and are not losing weight. In another of your posts I saw you had to set a timer to remember to eat, well not eating at all is not going to make you lose weight.

Slow Weight Loss After Lap Band Surgery......
Some people lose slower than others, I've been banded a year today and am down 68lb. A lot of people banded last December are down over a hundred. Though some of those had more weight to lose. Be happy with your loss.

Wow Is This Normal ...
I wasn't really that hungry my first 5 months post op, I was hungry at meals, but not much around them. That went away after 5 months and I started getting hungry again. My doc gave me a small fill 0.75 ml, and it worked for about 2 weeks. Then I was hungry again, but I decided to just work with it. I quelled my hunger with drinking my crysta light. That fill took away my ability to eat breakfast without feeling like crap. Now I have a new lifestyle change. So you may get through a while without being hungry.

No Lap Band Fill After 2 Months & Still Losing?
Gizmo, a fill is not going to make you lose weight, a fill will help control your hunger (eventually). Sometimes your hunger is controlled (or in my case was controlled for 5 months and I just learned to change my ways making me not want or need a fill) and you don't need a fill. The way you eat post banding determines your weight loss. You have to question before you start getting fills if you are hungry.

10 Day Liquid Lap Band Surgery Diet
If your surgeon lets you choose the protein drink you need to get some samples and find out which one YOU like. Everyone's taste is different and you will be in them post op too so you need to be able to drink them.

What Was The Deciding Factor To Finally Lose The Weight?
I made the decision after multiple diet attempts that while I tried I think k didn't put my full force into it. But I was very depressed about life (not seeing anyone as antidepressants never helped me in the past). I said I'm going to do something or I'm going to kill myself. Since I've been losing my depression has pretty much gone away. I still don't have many friends but I'm more active and trying to get better with socializing. I'm happy I'm finally done something. But realized I did not need this surgery to do so, but I do think it just gave me the motivation

My First Lap Band Fill
You say you have a problem eating three meals a day? Was this prior to the fill? If so, did you tell your doc this? Why would he fill you if you were having a hard time eating before??? If not, it could just be swelling and as long as you cn get liquids down give it a few days to resolve.

Calorie Counting/tracking Website Advice
I second myfitnesspal. I used to use live strong, butr after seeing so many people here use mfp, I switched and like it so much better. I love their forum, I've learned so much. Also the App is great for my phone, I can see the breakdown of all my macro nutrients that I've hard for the day right there (which I could not on the live strong app). I highly recommend it.

Pricey Protein Drinks....i Can't Afford To Keep Buying Them..help
You may want to try them first. I tried those and other of the "clear proteins" and they all made me want to vomit. But everyone has different tastes.

Please Tell Me, my surgeon pushed off my Lap Band Surgery!
I say most definitely take the job. Good jobs are hard to come by, especially in this economy. If you don't want to tell them you're having surgery you can tell them you have a vacation already planned and is it ok. When I got the job I'm at now I had a vacation that I was planning I told them and they were fine with it. You can tell them though you're having a hiatal hernia repair or something, not sure if you need one, but they're not going to know. I just wouldn't say your gallbladder or appendix (unless you already had them out), use in case you need those some other time.

Lapband And Cancer
I'm glad to hear you're doing well post radiation. My dog was on prednisone recently and he of course gained weight and I had hopes his appetite would go back to normal when I got him off of it. Much to my dismay his appetite is still humungous and I keep thinking. Great now my dog need a lap band. I'm sad to hear his appetite may never go back to normal.

Nine Month Physician Supervised Diet For Lapband Approval?
First I've heard of nine months. But I guess all insurances have different requirements. I had to do 6 months and I did mine at the surgeons office, but I could've done it at my PCP. It didn't matter.

Pricey Protein Drinks....i Can't Afford To Keep Buying Them..help
I know that they are expensive I buy the premeir protein from Costco, $25 for a box of 18, but I drink one every morning so I have to buy two cases since I'm not going every 2 weeks to Costco. I can get my protein from food but when I had my one and only tiny fill after that every time I ate breakfast my stomach would feel awful. So I decided to just have a protein drink for breakfast. I think now I'd probably be able to eat breakfast but I just don't want to most of the time. Most days I wake up around 8:30 and go to kickboxing for a 10 am class so it's not worth it for me to eat and then have my stomach feel like crap during my workout. I do have some Unjury in the house but it sounds stupid but I hate buying milk because it always ends up going bad

Am I Overeating?
I don't think that is bad. Maybe the potato is not so good, but I don't really think it is to much. I used to not really eat carbs, but now I do, mostly they're Low GI carbs though. I also personally believe that you should not eat less than 1200 calories per day. I now eat much more than that and I'm losing better than ever (due to my workouts and my lifestyle).
