    Slimband?

Dr. Cyriac performed my surgery on surgery day...but the whole time I was told I was having Dr. Yau. He did a great job but I was surprised to see him and questioned myself in the final moments before surgery. I did it and glad I did. I will be 4 months post op tomorrow and down 58 lbs. I travelled from Nova Scotia to Toronto for my surgery.
  4. Hey. Just wondering how you have been. Your one year anniversary is almost here. You will have to post a one year pic with your total amount lost :) You are such an inspiration. Take care.

  5. I am from Nova Scotia and the Nova Scotia government would not help me with Lapband. They told me that I could apply for vertical sleeve and gastric bypass as they are the only surgeries paid for by the Nova Scotia government. Then they told me it would take 18 months to 2 years to get approval after receiving the recommendation from your Family Doctor. If you do get approved there is a 3-4 year waiting list unless you are a diabetic. I could not wait 5 years to change my health so I applied for a loan and flew to Toronto and paid for my own surgery. If you found out something different I would love to know what you found out about Nova Scotia covering Lapband surgery because I have a huge bill that needs paid back and if the government has changed their mind I want some help!!!
  6. I have a 2.5 year old daughter and I started a new job taking care of 8 preschoolers at a daycare less than 2 weeks after surgery. I was not able to lift my daughter for 2 weeks. She is 29 pounds and some of the kids I care for weigh 40 or more. I am 5 weeks post op now and I have no problems lifting anything. I dance and jump with the kids. I showed my daughter my bandages as soon as I got home so she would understand that mommy was sore. She wanted up a lot and I would sit down first and she would sit on my lap. She was so happy once I hit my 2 week mark and I lifted her. Mommy's all better!!! Everyone heals differently. I had no complications at all and my incisions are practically invisible already. I needed help for the first week with my daughter but was completely capable to do everything for myself the first evening after surgery. Good Luck...it was a great decision for me :cursing:

  8. Hello everyone! I am on my way very soon for surgery....2 days left to go. Getting banded is so exciting and scary at the same time. I am going to be happy to finally have the surgery behind me so I will stop creeping websites for pre-op info. I am very informed but why do I feel so unprepared for my life after surgery???? I know this is the right procedure for me, I just hope my family and friends accept the new me. Any suggestions or feedback would be great...Thanks.
