  1. I want to see what everyone else sees!! I have been banded for 19 months and I am down 161.5 pounds!! It is absolutely amazing and I am almost half of the old me. 18.5 pounds to go. I feel fantastic and I know that I look good from the compliments I get. But WHY when I look in the mirror I still feel like I have so much farther to go...still the FAT girl! The flabby bat wing arms...the saggy thighs and the rolls of hanging skin on my stomach. With clothes on, it doesn't look so bad. Shapewear can fix almost anything! Will I ever be happy with my body? I know that plastic surgery is in my future and with it I know that I will look great but even then will I always see that FAT girl in the mirror??? I know that even the smallest of women find faults in their bodies. I know I will never be satisfied 100% with my body...but it's my mind that needs alterations!! Please tell me that I am not alone and that it does GO AWAY. -Sherry.
  2. Cheri...i was thinking the same thing...what a difference an inch or two makes!!!
  3. That website is great...thanks Hard to believe that I am comparable to these girls...I guess I am looking pretty darn good!!
  4. I have been on my journey for 16 months and have went from a size 24 to 14. I weighed 359 and now weigh 200.5. I am looking for a picture of a woman that is the same height and weight as me to compare myself with. I am having a really hard time seeing the true me in the mirror. I still see the old fat me!! So if you are 200 pounds and 5'9 or 5'10 and would like to contact me with your picture I would be grateful. I would love to see what I really look like in comparison to someone the same size...Thanks so much.

  6. To Regret...I am sorry for your experience with Slimband. I however have had a good experience so far. I had my surgery in June 2010 and it was the few months left of surgery with an empty band. My band was empty after my surgery and I didn't need a fill for 3 months and even then it was only 2cc's and I didn't need another one for 3 more months. Some people are sensitive and I am sure that if I had the surgery in August 2010 or after where they fill your band to the "ideal" sweet spot I wouldn't have been able to eat or drink anything either as I could barely eat or drink with just the band on my stomach. Have you had any success with a refund? Ohaw

  9. Hey, I was banded on June 23. 2010 and I will never look back! I am down 145 pounds and have 35 more to go to my goal. May change it when I get there to more but for now just one step at a time. I was a size 24W and now a 14/16 depending on the brand name. I am 5'9" so that has really helped me hide my weight for years. I am at the point right now where I am truly lost at shopping. I haven't been this size since I was in grade 8 or 9 and that was 18 years ago so the stores that exist now did not then and I am now small enough that plus size stores are too big...so I don't know where to go! I live in Nova Scotia, Canada if anyone has any suggestions I should be super excited right now but instead I am super terrified!! Sherry.
  10. Hey I was banded June 23, 2010. I have lost 145 pounds and I have another 35 to go to my goal but may change it to more when I get there. I was wearing a 24W and now a 14/16 depending on the brand name. I love my band and would do it again in a heartbeat!
  11. He sounds like an Ass****! I'm glad I do not have him to deal with. Sherry.
  12. I eat a cup of food every meal and one snack. I eat a protein shake for breakfast...one cup of 1% milk, scoop of protein powder and 1/2 banana. For lunch I could eat soup, rice, pasta, anything really but I make sure there is a protein on my plate and for supper I eat any meat to half a cup and then have veggies and my starch. I love deviled eggs for my snacks and cheese sticks. I drink sugarfree juices like crystal lite or koolaid. I gave up bread because my band doesn't like it but i do eat biscuits, wraps and english muffins. No food is off limits I just measure to one cup and will not eat it unless there is a protein. I do exercise but it's not traditional...my job is active...I am a preschool teacher and care for 8 children...they keep me on my toes and my daughter is almost 4 and she does the same thing evenings and weekends So always on the move.
  13. i have had hypothyroidism for almost 15 years...I had my surgery 13 months ago and I am down 148 pounds. My low acting thyroid has not slowed my weightloss down so far. I have 32 left to lose to reach my goal. I hope that it doesn't decide to kick in now! Have faith...I am one success story of someone with hypo!
  14. I have been banded for 12 months and I am down 140.5 pounds!! I love my band!!!

  17. Dr. Cyriac performed my surgery on surgery day...but the whole time I was told I was having Dr. Yau. He did a great job but I was surprised to see him and questioned myself in the final moments before surgery. I did it and glad I did. I will be 4 months post op tomorrow and down 58 lbs. I travelled from Nova Scotia to Toronto for my surgery.
  18. I am from Nova Scotia and the Nova Scotia government would not help me with Lapband. They told me that I could apply for vertical sleeve and gastric bypass as they are the only surgeries paid for by the Nova Scotia government. Then they told me it would take 18 months to 2 years to get approval after receiving the recommendation from your Family Doctor. If you do get approved there is a 3-4 year waiting list unless you are a diabetic. I could not wait 5 years to change my health so I applied for a loan and flew to Toronto and paid for my own surgery. If you found out something different I would love to know what you found out about Nova Scotia covering Lapband surgery because I have a huge bill that needs paid back and if the government has changed their mind I want some help!!!
  19. I have a 2.5 year old daughter and I started a new job taking care of 8 preschoolers at a daycare less than 2 weeks after surgery. I was not able to lift my daughter for 2 weeks. She is 29 pounds and some of the kids I care for weigh 40 or more. I am 5 weeks post op now and I have no problems lifting anything. I dance and jump with the kids. I showed my daughter my bandages as soon as I got home so she would understand that mommy was sore. She wanted up a lot and I would sit down first and she would sit on my lap. She was so happy once I hit my 2 week mark and I lifted her. Mommy's all better!!! Everyone heals differently. I had no complications at all and my incisions are practically invisible already. I needed help for the first week with my daughter but was completely capable to do everything for myself the first evening after surgery. Good Luck...it was a great decision for me :cursing:
  20. thanks so much...I leave tomorrow for my surgery. Flying to Toronto. I can't believe it's actually happening! I am so beyond words!
  21. Hello everyone! I am on my way very soon for surgery....2 days left to go. Getting banded is so exciting and scary at the same time. I am going to be happy to finally have the surgery behind me so I will stop creeping websites for pre-op info. I am very informed but why do I feel so unprepared for my life after surgery???? I know this is the right procedure for me, I just hope my family and friends accept the new me. Any suggestions or feedback would be great...Thanks.
