  1. Welcome! I was just banded on Tuesday, June 8th. This website is amazing. It helps me get my mind on my goals and is inspiring. I feel so relieved to know I have this tool that will help me get the weight off and stay off! Good luck with your tonsil surgery!! Ashly
  2. So far I have not had any extreme gas pain. I have had some pain in my chest but nothing too big. I walk around the block a lot. Every hour or so I will walk around. Helps me clear my head and stay focused. I will not be able to have mushy foods until the 22nd, which will be two weeks post-surgery. I am going out of town for a friend's wedding the 25th. I might go ahead and stay on liquids while I go. I do not want to be trying anything new out while I am away from home. I have not been nauseaus more than maybe 2 times. Overall, I feel blessed that I am doing so well. I am happy because so far I do not feel deprived or even feel like eating anything other than my liquids.
  3. I am feeling alright today. I am definitely more sore and tired. I have had one protein shake, 1 sugar free pudding cup, and a coffee cup of chicken broth. I am not sure how much more I can eat. I am going to try to get one more protein shake down. I will cross my fingers for you! Are self-pay ore going through insurance? Are you waiting to start the pre-op diet until you have a date?
  4. I will have to try some Greek yogurt. I do like my protein shakes but feel like I can only drink about 4-5 ounces at a time. I know I am barely eating, which is fine if I do not feel like it, but I want to make sure I am getting enough protein to heal. Should I try to break my protein shakes into 4 small "meals"??? I know then I would get my 40 grams of protein. If you are drinking liquids does that mean you can still not drink until 30 min after?
  5. Thanks for letting me know. I am glad I will know what to expect and not think I am getting worse instead of better.Yay for being down 22 pounds! That is exciting. Do you feel hungry? Do you measure the amount of liquid you drink? When do you get to go to soft foods? Thanks for the heads up on the gas!!
  6. Hey girls! My surgery was yesterday and so far so good. I am takingmy pain medicine around the clock. I am sore but have not had the left shoulder pain yet. I am 26, a 2nd grade teacher, and a single mom to my sweet and sassy little girl who will be 4 in September. I am nervous about getting sick so I am taking it VERY slow. I do not ever want to push it and get something stuck. I will be on a full liquid diet for 2 weeks and then a soft diet for 4 weeks. Do you have pills you have to crush? It is so gross.
  7. I am doing pretty good. I am just sore. I am sipping on a protein shake now. It is strange because I do not feel hungry or full. I just want to make sure I get enough protein down to help me heal. This was my first surgery so I didn't know what to expect. It went fine and the incisions are very small. Do you have a surgery date?
  8. When I went for my consultation, I was speaking with someone in the waiting room who had LAP-BAND®. She has mutiple health problems, including PCOS. She mentioned that she has to take steroids quite a bit and hard it is for her to lose weight. She said she had lost about 55 pounds in 7 months. I do think you can do it. I was just banded yesterday so I am not very experienced but wanted to share about the lady I met who seems to be similar to your situation.
  9. I just read up ont he previous posts. I am thinking and praying for those who are having their surgery in the next day or two. I was banded yesterday. I am trying to take it super easy on my liquid diet. I have not really felt hungry or full yet. I am doing my best to listen to my body and figure out what it is telling me. I have managed to get down about half of a protein shake this morning. My goal is to get my protein in for the day and stay hydrated. I am trying to walk a lot! It is about to rain so I keep pacing up and down our long hallway. I am sore but overall doing good. I am very nervous about upsetting my stomach. In a way, I am afraid of the band and just want to be very cautious!! I don't want any complications. I would love to hear how everyone else is doing! Ashly
  10. I know by this time next year I will be feeling A LOT better about myself and have more energy. I am looking to lose 80-100 pounds! I am looking forward to wearing Summer clothes next Summer! I cannot wait to feel comfortable or more comfortable to take my daughter swimming. It makes me sad that because of my weight I don't want to take her swimming. I told my mom that when I get this weight off I am not going to obsess about the stretch marks that will still be there, etc. I want to be happy and healthy. I do not expect perfection and will be proud of every step I take. We tend to look how far we have to go INSTEAD of how far we have come. I am super proud of myself giving up coffee and diet dr pepper. I was a HUGE addict for both! Ashly
  11. Hey ladies, I was banded yesterday (6/8). It went well. I had a hard time waking up from the anesthesia but other than that no problem. I am walking as much as possibe and taking it super slow when drinking. I had to crush my pills this morning. Now that is awful!!! Are you having to crush pills? Looking forward to getting to know you guys. It helps sooooo much to have someone going through the same thing. Ashly
