  1. So, I was diagnosed with depression a couple of months ago and was prescribed with Lexapro. I understand that Lexapro may increase weight. I have the medication but I'm not taking it the way i'm suposed to because i'm scared I'll gain weight. My question is if any one has taken Lexapro or any other anti-depressants and what were the pros and cons? Thank you in advance, Claudia
  2. Isa,

Haven't written to you in quite a while. Just wondering how you're doing? How's the process working for you? Hope all is well. Take Care!!

  3. Thank you for the great advice ladies. I have been taking Lexapro for 4 months on an off and I've gained approximately 12 lbs. Which is even more depressing. Also, it makes me super tired and all I want to do is sleep. I will consult with my dr. to see about a switch. Thank you once again!
  4. Lovemysgt, Have you tried crackers? I love bread but I am unable to eat any at all. I can't eat tortillas either but crackers seem to do the trick. They will give you that bread taste without making you sick. Crackers, Whole-wheat

    Judgement

Drassan, don't feel bad. We all vent here at some point or another and the good thing about it is that you are not alone. There's many of us here facing the same problems. Remember that we are here for support. I know exactly how you feel. It's been almost a year and I still have not reached the green zone. I am currently I'm starting to think the lap-band is not for me. I was banded on May 26, 2010. I have lost a total of 30-some lbs. Through out this year I've had many "stuck" episodes. They started getting worse back in November. I've been throwing up everyday almost for every meal since November. Needless to say, the very few people who know I was banded last year label me as lazy and say that I'm not trying hard enough. They don't understand how hard this process is for a lot of us. I've developed depression because of this of the disencouraging words and PB. It has got so bad that I was prescribed anti-depressants which I might add are not helping with my weight loss. I hope soon I can reach that green zone and begin losing the weight as I have seen with many who were banded last year. Just remember, people are always going to be judgemental and we can't allow these individuals to bring us down. We took that step therefore we are a step ahead. We will get there! Don't lose your motivation. If you like, we can buddy up and help each other. What do you say? Claudia
  6. It's sad to say this but I'm beginning to doubt the lap-band is for me. I was banded on May 26, 2010. I have lost a total of 30-some lbs. Through out this year I've had many "stuck" episodes. They started getting worse back in November. My doctor agreed to remove some liquid from my band but it has not done much for me. I've been throwing up everyday almost for every meal since November. It seems that I can't eat anything without it irritating my band. I've tried eating steamed veggies and fruit. I even tried going back to mushies and protein for a day or two but that didn't help much. I've developed depression because of this issue and I was prescribed anti-depressants which I might add are not helping with my weight loss. What should I do? Has anyone else had this problem? Please advice!
  7. He would only remove 1cc. I have not been back to the dr. since. I was quite disappointed. I'm considering making an appointment but I'm scared he will not agree to a complete unfill. I have been struggling with chewing throughly all the time. Specially when I'm so hungry but even when I do, I still get stuck.

  11. I had my second fill yesterday and I was told I had a total of 7cc in a 10cc LAP-BAND®. I'm a little freaked out because i've seen most people find their sweet spot to be around 5 or 6 cc's. Does any one else out there has 7cc's or more on their 10 cc band? If so, at what point did you find your sweet spot? I think this fill is good for now I just got it yesterday. It's my second by the way. I'm getting a little frustrated and I'm not sure if the bad is simply not working like it should for me as for everyone else as I have only lost 22 lbs since May 26, 2010. I know I should be patient and 22 lbs is a lot to have lost compared to nothing without the band but I see so many of you being successful and losing 3 time the amount I have in 2 months. I'm almost 4 months post op. Please help!
  12. Good morning Isabel,

Wow you got more than I did. I had a 3.8 and Dr. Lourie gave me a 1 more so I am at 4.8. Yeah, I didn't feel any difference till like 2 weeks after. it works kinda weird. The first few days once I felt restriction i kept getting stuck but I'm doing so much better. I think i'm ready for another fill. Swimming sounds like fun. If you were hungry when you were done swimming, i'm sure it must have been a nice little work out. Don't worry about the chips and stuff. i've had my share as well. I think it's ok to cheat one in a while otherwise we'd go crazy.

You know, I've never been to the support group. Where is it and when? How does it work? I've heard it's wonderful I'd like to go. If you have the info can you please give it to me?

  13. I'm so glad you're walking. It's helping me to be out doors. I get lazy at times and I also hate working out. lol It's normal we haven't done this in a while so hopefully we'll get the hang of it. How much do you have on ur band if you don't mind me asking. I've only had one fill and I am currently 4.8 I believe. The fill did help and I think i'm ready for the next one. I haven't weighed my self but I think I am losing weight. I feel slightly slimer. I think now the only problem is chewing. I have to work harder on that. I've been getting stuck and well i'm sure you know how much it hurts right? and it's annoying. Outside of that, I think i'm doing pretty great! Thanks for asking.

  14. Good morning Isa,

How's it going? How was your appointment on Tuesday? Did you get your first fill? How are you doing with that? I'm so excited for you lol

I had an appointment today but I think I'm gonna have to reschedule it :(

I'm glad the weekend was good. What happened at your sisters if you don't mind me asking?

  15. Ash, I have the same problem. I am 3 months post-op and I still can't tell the difference. It's truly a frustrating situation.
  16. My next appointment is on Sept. 2. I haven't weighed my self. I only know if i've lost when I go to my Dr.'s office. It's accurate and I'm afraid of getting discouraged lol

Congrats on your lost! I'm so happy for you. How's the fill so far? How much do you have on ur band now?

  17. Hey Isa,

How are you? I finally called Dr. Martin. I have an appointment for next Tuesday. We resolved the issue with the insurance so that's great!

Good luck with this weekend. I hope everything turns out ok for you.

About the chewing, I think I'm doing better. How are you?

  18. GM Isa,

How are you doing today? Were you able to stop by Dr. Martin and Dr. Lourie's Office? I'm going to call my insurance today and also Dr. Martin so see if he is still part of my medical group. I will probably switch if my visits are covered.

Yes, I was very excited about my first fill as well. At first I couldn't tell the difference but now I can. I have less food choice and I keep getting stuck because i'm not chewing properly lol I have to slow down. It's a matter of getting used to it. Hopefully I will learn soon. Being stuck is sooo uncomfortable and painful.

I'm doing much better thanks for asking. How are things going for you? Hopefully nice and smoothly.

Please let me know how it went.

    Claudia

  20. Good morning Missy,

I was banded a day after you, May 26, 2010. My weight the day of surgery, being my highest as well, is 284. I am 5'3". On my last appointment, I had lost 16 pounds. That was the first week of this month. I don't know my current weight because I don't really like weighing my self. If I don't want to get discouraged by the scale ;)

What about your self? How's it going so far?

    By the way I'm Claudia.

  21. Hi Isa,

Thanks for the update on Dr. Martin. How's it going with your insurance issue? I'm still not sure if I should give him a call. Dr. Lourie's office told me my insurance pre-paid them for a whole year. I have an HMO so I have to call and she if Dr. Martin is part of my medical group and then go back to my dr and get a referral. It's a hassle.

    How are things for you?

  22. Hello!

Thanks for the request. Things are going ok for me. I just started walking/jogging last week and it feels great!

How are things going for you? When were you banded if you don't mind me asking.
