Isn't it funny how thinking about the loss of stuffing your face every day almost puts you in a panic? I feel like I am really going to miss all the food after the surgery. I know that's dumb but food has been such a central part of my life for so long, it will really be a big change not to be eating all the time.

lol this post makes me laugh because this is my last weekend before I start my preop diet on the 5th and I am totally going for a last hoorah!! German Buffet tonight, Crab and shrimp tomorrow and one last visit at Chipotle on Sunday, before jello and broth become my new best friends!!

My surgeon is so rude.
KathyM replied to sbingram12's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
somthingwong - not cool.. sbingram - i'm sorry you had to deal with that. I don't know whether he was having a bad day or what, but he shouldn't have been rude to you. What you have to ask yourself is do you want him to do the surgery? It is your body and you need to feel comfortable with the person doing your surgery. You always have the option of finding someone else, or you can just get it done and hopefully if you sail through with no complications, you wont have to see him much afterwards. Then you can march back into his office a year later and show him that emotional eating hasn't ruled your life. I hope you figure out what you need to do. Kathy -
Jennifer - so excited for you!! Please post and let us know how everything goes!!! Kathy

Has anyone gone out of the country alone?
KathyM replied to BlackBerryJuice's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am going to Mexico alone as well. I am newly divorced and both of my boys are college age, so there is no way I would have one of them sitting around for 3 days while I am post-op. I had some anxiety about doing that at first, but after talking with my patient coordinator all of those worries just melted away. She is going to meet me at the airport in San Diego and will be with me through my whole stay. Hopefully it will be a good experience. -
Yaaay LapGyrl!! I am getting done on the 15th, isn't this so exciting? What a rollercoaster of emotions lol. We are on our way to a new life! Please keep posting, we all want to know how your experience goes. :scared0:

Awww....sweetie you need to look at that precious baby girl of yours and know that you are doing this so that you can be around for her for a very long time!!! I was overweight the entire time my boys were growing up and I missed out on so many things we could have done together - I know you are scared, but this is going to be the best thing you could ever do for your daughter! As far as your family goes, right now you have to think about what you need, and if you don't feel like they will be supportive of your decisions, then wait and tell them later. It will all work out. :thumbup1: Remember - just breathe! It will all be good, everyone here will send prayers for a smooth procedure and a quick recovery!!! Kathy

I leave for Mexico on the 15th - can't wait!!! Prayers that you will sail through and be on your way to a healthy new you!! Kathy

Hi everyone - I am being sleeved July 15th and there is no doubt in my mind that this is exactly what I want. I have been practically living on this forum reading everything I can and it has been so helpful. I see that post op, the intake is so small, and even am reading that from people who are a few months out from surgery. My question is, do you ever get to a point where you can eat a regular meal again? Or is it forever just a few bites and then you are done? I think I am subconsciously starting to mourn the loss of food after eating so much over the years. That being said, I am willing to give it all up if that is what it takes to help me get healthy again. I do worry some about how you have enough energy to get through the day when you aren't eating very much. I work in a really busy ER and I am afraid I will start feeling weak and shaky at a moment when I need to be on my toes. Would love to hear anyone's input on this - thanks Kathy

Hi everyone - I am scheduled to get sleeved in July and totally can't get enough of the post-op stories and reading how everyone is doing!! I am just curious, would like people to be completely honest and tell me if they have issues with sagging skin with such a quick loss? The before and after pics are so wonderful to look at and for the most part, I can't see where sagging skin is a problem for people. I have about 145 lbs to lose, and cant wait to get my life back! You look awesome, but you were beautiful to begin with!!! It must feel so good, I can't wait to be there!!! -
I just read through all of your blog entries - thanks for sharing your life. It feels good to hear your normal feelings, doubts, frustrations as well as the joys. I have been considering starting my own blog of my journey, but am not sure if this would be the right place since I would like to include more things about my life than just my WLS (I have been through a mess over the last few years lol). I am so happy for you, and it feels like when I am reading your posts they are written by an old friend Thanks again for sharing

I have heard that before you get the brazilian - if you are used to shaving, you have to let it grow out for about 3 weeks first. Is this true? How long does the brazilian last? I have this picture in my mind of being smooth for like a week and other than that always being in various stages of stubble...

I am looking back at what I just wrote and realizing that more than half the time I eat, it isn't because I am hungry. Wow - I keep getting these lightbulb moments. I wonder how long it takes to re-program your brain!:001_rolleyes: -

Zephra I can totally relate to that. We always have food at work and I am not looking forward to being coaxed to eat - especially when I have always eaten alot, and then I won't be able to. Question - when the food smells good, does it make you feel hungry? -
Nexium...the little purple pill
KathyM replied to cactusmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Reflux is definately worse when lying down - i.e. at night. I am a nurse, and often hear our docs telling people to take their anti-reflux meds at night. Also, try not to lie down for at least an hour or two after eating and that might help some too.
