  1. Good luck to you Thursday, I'm getting banded in the morning.
  2. Wow! It's almost here, finally. Well here I go folks, please wish me luck. I'll post when I get back from the hospital.
  3. I just created this blog, so forgive me it's still very short. But here it is. Banded At 33!
  4. Hey Everyone! Just curious if anyone has used Fountain Valley Regional Hospital in Fountain Valley, California. More specifically Dr. Kelly Francis, I'm having surgery on July 20th and wanted to see if anyone can offer any information on their experience with this hospital. Thanks!
  5. Good luck on your surgery. Take care and update when you can about the experience. I'm having mine next Tuesday the 20th.
  6. You'll get there, just be really disciplined about taking your thyroid meds first thing in the morning before you start your day. Think of it as you "weight loss pill", take care.
  7. I'm sorry to hear you are in so much pain. No one should have to endure such horrible pain. If it were me, I would insist that my lap band surgeon do every test possible to find out the root of the problem causing your pain. You or your insurance paid for him/her for the surgery and now they need to make things right for you. Please insist on this. Don't give up, if they won't help you, tell them you will report them to the proper authorities, they need to fix the problem you're having. I hope you feel better soon.
  8. Since the original post I've purchased of few of the recommended protein drinks and other items needed for after surgery and I feel much more prepared and really ready for being banded on the 20th.
  9. Thanks Everyone!! I feel much better now and I appreciate all of the wonderful advise.
  10. Hey Everyone, I'm feeling a little unprepared, any advise is appreciated, My surgery is scheduled for July 20th. I saw my pre op nurse about two weeks ago and signed paperwork for the surgery. I won't go back until the 20th. My Nutrition class was about 2 months ago, and I'm just not sure what to go out and purchase before my surgery. I feel like I know I am having surgery in 9 days, but nothing in the house is reflecting a change coming. Any suggestions for a shopping list to get prepared would be greatly appreciated. Everything from foods, appliances, comfy clothes suggestions, anything. Thank you!!
  11. Hi, As far as the protein I buy muscle milk from costco online but amazon.com sells many different protein shakes and I always like to read the reviews on them before I buy. One that always has great reviews is Unjury protein drink and you can buy from amazon or directly from Unjury's website. As far as vitamins go, my doc told me to take Centrum silver multivitamin, as well as calcium supplements and iron. These should also help with hair thinning, also any vitamin containing biotin should help with hair issues. Hope this helps some. Take Care.
  12. Hi, I was told I'd also have to pay 20% then I called my HMO (Health Net) and spoke directly to the customer service reps who explained to me that as long as it was outpatient all I had was a $250.00 co pay. I was very relieved! Do you have an HMO or PPO? If it's HMO I would call your insurance directly as the hospital staff may not be as thorough. Good Luck!
  13. Hi, I'm Monica and I was just told I am approved, my surgery is scheduled for July 20th with Dr. Kelly Francis of Dr. Leport's office in Fountain Valley, Ca. I will meet with my surgeon on June 16th. I am very excited and look forward to a new, healthier life. Good luck to all of you who are going through this as well.

I agree the Costco Muscle Milk is great and you can also purchase it online. Available at Costco.com: just type in Muscle Milk.
